I have a code reader . I used to be able to clear the code and use the cruise control . It doesn't do that anymore . But when the CEL comes back on the CC flashes green again . So I guess the light still works. Just not when you actually want to use CC after clear CEL !

So I have a 2005 Legacy Wagon , NOT Outback ! With 216 K miles on it . And of course the CEL is on for bank 1 insuffient catalyst ! Well that's old news , my car is 15 years + old in my state CEL doesn't matter anymore ! But anyhow I used to clear the codes on occasion and be able to use my Cruise Control and of course when the CEL came back on in 50 miles or less. I'de lose it ! Well now when I do that and hit the button to turn on the cruise ..... nothing happens ! And of course when the CEL is on the Cruise is flashing green . So there are no fuses for the cruise . How about a relay ? Any guesses to what the problem is ?

SO I have a 2005 Legacy Wgn with about 2005,000 miles on it . And of course the CEL is on ! Well it's always code P0420 , “Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) , Ya, YA ! So I'm in Massachusetts and the car is 16/17 years old . CEL doesn't matter anymore for inspection ! I have been doing a lot of highway driving and like to use my cruise control , so what I do is get my handy-dandy OBDII checker and clear the code and then you can use cruise again 50 about 50 miles, which works for me ! Well that's getting old ! So I'm thinking of actually fixing bank 1 ! I know there are dozens of systems out there, Ebay junk, the big box parts stores etc. My mechanic says that Subaru OEM bank 1 is the only one that lasts , it better for $1,200 ! Well my question IS, is there any decent after market bank 1 out there ? And just WHO makes Subaru OEM bank 1's , maybe get it direct? The car runs fine, getting great gas mileage !

So as we all know these H7 bulbs on Subees burnout ...alot ! And because I'm running Sylvania Xtravisions, they really burn out quickly ! So I had an idea that maybe I'de search Amazon . I did . Bought these BeamTech H7 LED bulbs. I'm sending them back ! The have a white color. but they are not as lbright as the Xtravisions ! My question IS , has anybody had any luck with an LED or Xeneon H7 bulb setup ?

When did they stop making simple Legacy Wagon ? I have a 2005 Legacy Wagon with about 200K miles on it , it's not getting younger ! Sort of looking around for a replacement ! When I bout it about 6 years ago, I thought when that time came I would simply buy a newer one, because this body style changed in 2010 with the new bigger Outback and they ONLY made Legacy sedans in the old body style like mine ? Well I having a hard time replacing my simple station wagon ! I can find GT's with that Turbo, that I want nothing to do with ! So ...... when did they stop making my simple 4 4 station wagon ?

So I have a slow leak in my power steering system somewhere. It's wet around the pump. I have only topped it off an ounce or 2 in the last year. I have a 2005 Legacy Wgn with 191 K miles on it . Not replacing anything right now . I want to try this AT-205 stop leak and it uses 1.5 OZ per quart of fluid in system . They say the average is using 3 OZ. which is a 2 QT. system.

So were to go to get brakes done ? Between mechanics now , I live in Western MAss . I've got the Monro, Mavis, Good Year , Firestone and Walmart chains. Don't trust a one of them ! Need Pads, Rotors maybe even calibers all around. What to buy online for quality parts ? THANKS !

When I got this car about 6 years ago it had I think 130K miles on it . I bought it from a guy who had a small Subee shop , he was an Ex-Subee mechanic . It had a lot of work done head gaskets, timing belt water pump and brakes all the way around. Then he told me that CATS were replaced by cutting out the old ones and burned in new ones....I thought he was kidding me ! The first time I saw it on the lift you could see were they were burnt in ! They lasted me about 4 years ! Two years ago I did the same thing that you did ! I actually called around to see what garages did for the P0420 code, as in what CATS do you install OEM, aftermarket etc. Called one garage and they said NOTHING ! That's when they did the OBDII code checker things as you have . I did it successfully last year and couldn't pull it off this year! Those other years it was much warmer and I wonder if that has anything to do with it!? I tried it twice this year, the P0420 code came back within the driving time ! I had a flyer saying the driving time is supposed to be over 53 miles an hour, for 15 minutes and the gas gauge is between 1/2 and 3/4 ! I'm going to try it again on a much warmer day and see what happens ! I've got about 55 days left !

Know I remember when I got this car I was told it does have the 5 02 sensors . So my question IS......do I simply take the last 02 sensor out of the stream ? OR ...do I take the last sensor after Bank 1 ?

There is no PZEV label on the back of the car. But when you lift the hood it does says ....CALIFORNIA regulations ! Is this the SAME as PZEV ?

I have a 2005 Legacy i WGN, NOT an Outback ! The sticker under the hood says ...CALIFORNIA regulations....or something like that ! I have 183 K miles on it and it's an automatic . It's inspection time again ! I have a shinny black R on my windshield. Thinking of getting one of those 02 sensor spacers to get 02 out of stream ! Just which 02 sensor is it exactly ? I'm assuming it's the one that should be the last one for Bank 1 , or is it simply the last one ??!

I just had a thought about this cleaning and re-oiling of my K&N filter . I just watched the video below were this guy is testing filters of different types on a dyno, then real world. And yes it's a Subaru and yes it's a K&N filter too. I'm not so much interested in the performance results, but what he says at the bitter end of this video, he talks about the charcoal filter that is there . I find the idea ridiculous that the oil from the K&N filter can migrate pass this panel and get to the MAF sensor !

So I suspect that OEM's like to sell you a brand new air filter when you go to OEM's garage. So now I'm in the market for a dry synthetic air filter. So who makes the most reasonable for value one out there now? I'm new to this type filter and I'm finding there are lots available so I need a way to " filter "them out and figure out which one I'm going to buy. The whole idea of cleaning the K&N filter and then reoiling it bothers me. And I don't want to mess up my MAF sensor. Thanks. GD.

I just checked on eBay, those Cosworth air filters are 63 bucks. I have bought a paper air filter in years, and when I did they were by Fram. It seems that there are many paper filters on the market today, are there more that are reasonably priced?

If this K&N Filter and other oil type filters we're such a problem. Why don't I hear about this everywhere. And why don't I see commercials on TV saying buy our paper panel filter ? Get rid of those reusable oil filters! Etc!

Just bought this CRC kit off of Feebay. I'll clean re-oil K&N , then run car a bit and clean MAF and then Throttle body .

I have other spray bottles, I haven't tried transferring the fluid yet. I haven't had good luck with other sprayers working, I keep them around and hope they do, and they don't . And just what do you clean a MAF with ? Just another one of those Urban Myths...that you CAN'T ?

So I dropped a K&N filter into my 2005 Subee Legacy wgn years ago. Decided that hey...it might need cleaning by now ! I have THE cleaning kit, it's been in my house for years. The cleaning fluid won't pump out of the sprayer, just seemed like over kill to dump it " neat " into the filer. So I vacuumed the big stuff along with brushing it, most of the stuff comes off ! I want to do a good cleaning on it some day when it's not 30 degrees out there and I'm not in a hurry ! Maybe I can't just splash the K&N cleaner on it , but I'de rather spray it on ! Anyhow, there's always been a urban myth that you can ONLY use K&N cleaner on the filter. I have plenty of K&N oil for it . I've done some snooping on the web, some people say use Formula 409, that " Awsome" stuff from the dollar store, or even Simply Green . Anybody here have any REAL experience with other stuff ?

I can see the Clarion booster . What I was getting at , or my question , just how many db boost does it give, and the other question is if I get this other antenna with it's own boost can I put it through the Clarion and get even more db boost ? And by the way that link doesn't work . Thanks !

I have a 2005 Legacy wagon , not an Outback ! Anyhow I have the wiring bundle problem that others have had ! The reception comes and goes ! I have had it fixed twice and just returns. Right now I have it cobbed up ! With a wire fished outside on top of my roof and taped to my roof rack, and it sort of works fine ! Anyhow , I know that there is a Clarion signal amplifier back there ! Does anybody know how much it boosts ? I saw this antenna on Amazon for a mere $15+ bucks. And it says it has a 16db booster ! I thought I'de get it and maybe bypass the Clarion booster and head into the car ! Or better yet......would the Clarion booster boost the new signal from this antenna ? THANKS !

Yep I'm up in the BerZerkshires , tiny town of Housatonic . I'm sure you've heard of Housatonic because the river ends up in the sound. More Housatonic stuff in CT than up here and much nicer too . Great drive south on 44 or 183 or 63 following the river . And the Housy is CLEAN down there , not much PCB action ! Anyhow, I looked at FB for a MASS-ARU club before and just now , nothing and of course Googled it ! I just got a glimpse of the sticker on the Forester and it was cool , in the shape of MASS and I thought it said " MASS-ARU " , I'de like to get one and put it on Subee #4 !

Hi ALL! I have a 2005 Subee Legacy Wgn. It has thrown the p0420 insufficient bank 1 catalyst code. YES, my car is a California emissions car!! I did the Catcleaner, didn't do anything. So decided to replace the LAST 02 sensor of the 5 that are in my car ! The dealer of course wants 130, I was told that the OEN 02 sensors are DENSO. So I went to RockAuto and bought a DENSO 02 sensor, it was described as California emissions, down stream and after the primary catalyst. I just came back from my buddies who installed it, now I'm just wondering if it IS the correct one ! The one that came out was a 4 prong connector, so is the one that went in. I THINK the part # for the one that came out was 2269-AA450, hard to tell, I do have a pic here ! The new DENSO # 234-4446. HELP ! THANKS ! SubeeTed
