I was goining to go with rockauto. They are about one dollar cheaper each than the other site. One goes for $46 the other $51 . And they have other stuff I need. It will be the first time I've tried rockauto, only here good things about them ! It sounds like what I already know....there are NO absolute solutions for this situation! So I'll do the cheaper thing first.....and HOPE !!

Hi ALL ! I've got the dreaded PO420 code. CAT below threshold ..... ! I have a 2005 Legacy Wgn i, Auto. It runs just fine, gas mileage is fine ! IT IS A CALIFORNIA Emissions car !! I want to replace the last 02 sensor, OEM part # 22690AA45C. I can get it for $130. I've heard that they are made by DENSO, I've found this DENSO site . The 02's they have are much less, but ARE they really the real thing ? IS this what SUBEE uses ? WE DENSO #'s are DEN 234-4732 or DEN 234-4446. Or am I just hoping and this is a waste of time ????!!! Many thanks, Ted

CEL came back on today, about 24 hours going OFF! I was on a different dirt road ! I came home and hooked up my Ebay Cheapo scanner....it DIDN'T find any code ! I've used same scanner before and it DID find P0420 code ! Anyhow, the car is going to my buddies for other work, he has a real MAC scanner ! Maybe that'll tell a better story ! My car IS a California emissions car. I look at that sticker under my hood, you have to actually read it ! It says ......... CALIFORNIA regulations....or something like that! I'll trudge on to figure something out ! I didn't add the CATAcleaner to my gas, I was going to experiment with it, my car is at that 1/4 tank, but I'll wait to we scan it ! THANKS !!! SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I have a 2005 Legacy WGN with 157 K miles. It runs fine. Just had the oil changed, burned only 1/2 qt. in 5K miles. Gas mileage is fine! So....a few weeks ago I took a short cut over a rocky dirt road to avoid a bridge construction light thing. Little did I know there was a accident on that site, they sent all the traffic thru, so there saw a lot of pulling over into the rough to let traffic by ! Next day my CEL comes on, I didn't check it out, I wanted to buy a scanner. A week goes by, the CEL goes OFF, YAE !! A week later it comes back on! BOO ! By that time I bought my scanner, it was dreaded code P0420, insufficient Catalyst what ever !! Just today, another week or so later this CEL goes OFF ! I did nothing except drive my car ! What gives ? So I'm think (OK hoping) that maybe one of my 5 O2 sensors got hit or something ? That's why it comes and goes, because from what I've seen of a real 420 code, it doesn't go away !!! Can someone tell me if my car is a California emissions car? My VIN is 4S3BP616657307620. I might just change out the first O2 sensor, or should I change out the first 2 ??? HELP!! THANKS, SubeeTed

So my CEL came back on ! I just got a cheapo OBD II scanner from FEEbay ! It says, not what I wanted to see that my catalytic converter isn't doing well ! I'm going to try some of that miracle in a can Catacleaner ! I've heard it might work. My inspection is in Nov. I have time to play ! If that doesn't seem to work, I'm going to replace both my upstream 02 sensors. From what I'm seeing DENSO is the OEM manufacturer ? Is this true ? Anyhow...anybody have a part # ? My VIN is 4S3BP616657307620. Are ALL the o2 sensors the part # ? They sell DENSO 02 sensors on Amazon and they are cheap ! My car is running well, I just my gas mileage all the time. It just went up because it's the summer fuel mix. I just changed my oil after 5K miles, I only burned 1/2 quart. I have a 2005 Legacy Wgn. THANKS !! SubeeTed

CEL is GONE ! Well... got coffee for the crew this AM, came back to my car....started it up, and there goes the CEL, gone ! Have absolutely no reason why ! When it did go on the other day, I was on a dirt road that was kind of rough, I'm thinking maybe I kicked up a rock or something ! Any CEL is gone, flashing cruise control light s also gone AND does work ! Thanks everyone anyhow !! SubeeTed

My CEL just came on this AM. I haven't had a chance to get it looked at yet ! I have a 2005 Legacy WGN. This year Subee is new to me ! I have a buddy with the same basic car and year an Outback. He's had the Catalytic code go off several times. When this code goes off for him, the green cruise light blinks, and cruise doesn't work ! My question is on the 2005 Legacy does the cruise light blinking happen with ALL CEL. Or is just for the catalytic problem ? So I'll assume it's the CAT code.....what are people doing to repair the situation ? Go to the dreaded Subee dealer and pay $1,000 ?? Will it come the a warrantee 100 K miles ?? Are there any aftermarket CAT systems that work for more than a year ?? What's the thing to do ?? Many thanks, Ted

HELP!! Just tried to figure out what's going on with my 2005 Legacy Wgn Drivers door handle ! I can open door from inside ! I took off the panel. I couldn't see anything oblivious . I was able to remove the 10 mm bolt from the back of the outside handle. I can see, but can't remove the 10 mm bolt from the upper left side ! I can put a wrench on it, but that's it ! In the video I saw for a 2004 and less Outback on youtube, they did a step by step thing to take the outside handle off! I suspect they are similar BUT not the same ! I remember them taking out the lock tumbler easily, I just couldn't figure out how to do it ! And it's plastic, don't want to break it ! I suspect that it is in the way of the other bolt removal ! Has anybody actually replaced one of these outside handles on a 2005 + Legacy ?? Just what IS the trick ? I don't want to buy another handle if it's ONLY the rod has fallen off ! HELP !! SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I just broke the door handle on my 2005 Legacy wagon, on the drivers side ! I just lifted it up and heard a snap ! I found a video on youtube on how to replace a handle on a '04 Outback, I suspect they are similar ! ? I'm going to see if I can find handle WITH on Ebay. It was 20 degrees here in Western Mass, I suspect that it just was too cold and broke from fatigue. Just what usually breaks inside ? Will replacing the handle actually work ? The handle outside is still loaded and I can still open it from inside. if that helps. THANKS, SubeeTed

Hi again. Just found my antenna booster, I just pulled the panel down . Found out that it's a Clarion unit, EF-1214I-A . I started snooping around the interwoven, can't find anything ! Went to FEEbay, found a used unit that sold. It says that it came out of an '05 Subee Leg Wgn like mine. I can look at the model #....everything is the same except it has a " C " at the end...wonder if that makes ANY difference ?? Anyhow...I think I'm going to go to the junk yard to get one.... I'de like to be able to test to see if I'm getting 12 Volts to the one I have in the car, I'de like to know what pin it is ? I suspect that it's ( - ) ground via the screws that hold it on ??? Many thanks, SubeeTed !

Thanks for the reply Texan ! No...I did not install tint. When I order head unit from Crutchfield, I bought the Metra wiring harness as well. I'll suppose it powers up the booster as the OEM radio did !? I'm WONDERING if I could buy an aftermarket signal booster, if that would work ? They are a lot cheaper than the OEM one. Or are they just junk ???? Thanks, SubeeTed
-
Hi ALL! So my OEM radio started too loose reception a few months ago ! I was listening to CD's , but wanted my radio back ! I decide to do the Crutchfield thing, got a Pioneer AM/FM CD player. Had in professional installed, along with to rear door speakers that were blown out ! So...new radio also has poor reception, in the same way ! Unfortunately I started to Google antenna problems AFTER I did this ! Seems that there is a antenna problem in the 2005 Legacy Wagons. Maybe not the antenna, but the signal booster ! I saw some info on this, not quite clear on how to track problem down ! It seems that the antenna wires are on the drivers side wire bundle in the hatch. Which is shared by the windshield fluid tube. I don't have any idea were the antenna booster is, or how to get to it, or how to diagnose ! HELP !!! SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I have 2005 Legacy Wagon. I've had it about 1 yr + . Anyhow, I have just had another set of those Sylvania Silverstar H7 low beams go on me ! At the SAME time ! Just how can that be ??? Anyhow....I bought them because of the volume of light they do throw when they are working ! I have a plain Jane Legacy I....NO fog lamps. I have had fog lamps on my last 2 Legacy's because they were GT's. These bulbs at low beams throw a wider stream of light. But blowing up after only 7 months just doesn't work ! SO....what do I get for H7, Low Breams that work this well ? I've seen those LED low beams on Ebay.....are they a joke like I think they are ? HELP !!! SubeeTed !

Hi ALL ! Stupid question ! I need to replace my 2005 Legacy Wgn front pass door jam switch. It's beaten up, it gets pushed past the metal in the door jam and doesn't work, the alarm doesn't like it, neither does the interior light. I would think this would be stupid to replace ! I saw a switch on feeBAY there asking $40.00 ! From what I can see of the picture, it seems to have a long , maybe 6 inch lead to it and then coupling. I barely can get the switch out of the hole because the leed is so short ! What a gives !? How do you get to this thing ? Is there a better way of replacing it ? I'm seeing Subee part # 83331AE00B9E , I can't tell from the pictures if that's JUST the rubber bumper part OR it's BOTH the rubber AND the actual switch ? THANKS ! SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I didn't see the first post. So I actually went into the manual and found out that you actually have to remove the entire tail light assembly, I was thinking it would be a door only thing to replace the bulbs. Anyhow, I did remove the assembly and shook the water out. I'll keep an eye on it. I couldn't see any cracks, it was weird to see how dirty it was behind the assembly were it meets the body, I even had a leaf ! Anyhow.... if the water continues, I'll do the drill a hole in the bottom of the unit thing . Thanks ALL! SubeeTed !

Hi ALL! Just wondering how to go about removing my rear taillight on my '05 Legacy Wagon without destroying the surrounding stuff . I can see water inside of it. I hope to remove it and get it out ! I don't see a crack in it I'm befuddled how water got in there ! OR is this just a big waste of time taking (hopefully) off, because I won't be able to get the water out ?? Many thanks, SubeeTed

I talked to the guy I bought the car through.....long story. He worked at a Subee store, went on his own and sold this car for a client. I bought the car 6 months ago, he doesn't remember if he replaced the T- stat. Anyhow, he said something about the 2005's and how Subee put in a heater core that was higher than usual. He was saying that it might just be the car needing a good burp ! He said that Subee had a special tool so you could give the car a good burping. Don't know how true this is, but he also suggested doing the cheap and easy thing and getting a Subee rad cap, which I have just bought via FeeBay from a Subee Dealer, see if that works ! THANKS, Ted

Hi ALL! I got a '05 Legacy Wgn a few months ago. I was told that the head gaskets were done...but I have my doubts! It uses some coolant. Not really around town but doing highway speeds. I think I have a internal Head Gasket leak. It doesn't leak anything in the driveway and I don't see any. I'de like to add some of that Subee Stop Leak to see if it takes care of the problem ! I thought it would be SIMPLE ! I did it in my '01 Leg GT Wgn. This '05 has a plastic skirt below. I hoped to be able to feel my way around the lower end of the radiator and figure out were the petcock is ! NO luck ! I thought I might pop the upper hose of and get rid of some fluid that way, don't want the mess ! So what's the easiest way to do this ? Just were is the petcock ? Any hints !? Thanks, SubeeTed
