Hi ALL! I just got this '01 Legacy GT a few months ago, its new to me. It has 154 K miles on it. I had to get one with an automatic, ran out of time looking. Anyhow... when you first try to put it into gear, it sort of sits there, then it techs up, and then goes. It only does this when I first use the car, then it's ok. I had my first real cold morning here in MAss a week ago, that situation got worse, it took even longer to go. It has enought ATF fluid, it's clean, doesn't smell, any ideas out there? Will a simply change of fluid and a new spin on filter take care of it ? Many thanks, SubeeTed

Hi ALL! Bought a 2001 GT Wgn Legacy with 153K miles on it a few weeks ago. I called SOA and gave them the VIN, it seems that most of it's life it was maintaned by a dealership, but they couldn't give me details. I did call that dealership, they couldn't offer up maintenance details either. Of course I'm trying to find out if the timing belt was changed or NOT! I've been looking around to find out if it's an interference engine or not, I've gotten different answers. I've got a buddy of mine who has a MOTORS timing belt book, it says that these are "Free Wheeling" engines. IE, NON interferance. I'm seeing here, that they are, what gives ?? How many miles does the belt need to be changed..... 105 K ? HELP. SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I just got this '01 GT Wgn. I totaled my beloved '97 GT WGn, and got this. It's an automatic. It has 154 K miles on it. Runs fine except this weird problem. I've had the car now for about three weeks, it's happened to me 3 times. It just stalls when braking for a light or stop sign! It isn't heavy breaking, or emergency braking...can't figure it out! It runs and starts fine. Any ideas ?? HELP ! SubeeTed

Thanks for the info gbhrps. I did some other snooping around for this problem. I saw that there is an easier access ....... I think ! I opened the door were the jack is kept, I found a drain hose there. Is this hose exclusive to the drivers side? Or do the two tubes join ? I'm leary of that rust 10 mm situation. Can I access the tube if I remove that box just inside the hatch on the passengers side. It has a simple lid on it. looks like a valubles compartment. When you take the lid off, you can see 4 of those "Push it's", those plastic interior panel fasteners. I assume if I remove them pull that box out.... will I see that drain tube behind it ? Hi ALL! I have a '01 GT Wagon with the 2 moonroofs. The rear one is leaking, I tried fixing it. It leaks at the passenger side. I pulled the panels, got to the headliner, pulled that away. I pulled off the 1/2 clear drain, it didn't look clogged, it was clear looking. I pulled of the hose, I sprayed air down the drain tube with my small compressor, that sort of worked. Then I did the hose test, ran the hose for a while over the moonroof, then took a look above the headliner, leaking !!! So I ran my hand down the track as much as I could, found two leaves...thought maybe this could be the problem, cleared them, did water test....NOPE, still leaking ! I finaly realzed what is going on ! There is a clog somewhere further down the line, after the hose runs a while I can see that the tube backs up and over flows...the leak! SO I ran a clothes hanger down the tube, did hose test, backs up, then leaks. So then I got the household toilet drain thin snake, I got that to go about 5 feet, pulled it back, no sign of clogging on it. Did water test, backs up, leaks ! Just what to do ! Were does this drain tube go EXACTLY ? I've got to find the clog!! HELP !! SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I totaled my beloved '97 GT about a month ago. I searched the web and stumbled upon an '01 GT Wagon with an auto, boo (rather a 5 spd) ! It has it's little problems, it has 153 K miles on it. It has the window mirror noise, which I see here is an easy fix. I need, what I think is a cup holder that goes on the bitter end of the console. I guess I have the typical rear hatch interior trim problem..it has fallen off ! I have on one of those stupid plastic push in trim screws (what else are they called) . I went to 1st subaru parts, can't find these stupid things ! Can I get them somewere other than Subee ? Were's a good place to find that cup holder, non on Ebay! Many thanks, SubeeTed

Hi all! I totaled my beloved '97 GT Legacy Wgn over a week ago. I love to find another '97-'99 Wgn, I'm finding that difficult to find a good one with a 5 speed. I have never driven a 2000 + GT or plain Legacy with the 2.5 single cam and different body style. Just what are they like compared to the '97-'99's ?? Many thanks, SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I just had an accident Mon the 29th at an intersection in Pittsfield, MA. My beloved '97 GT Legacy Wagon is totaled !!! Would love to find another one of the 97-99 years, with a 5 speed. Somewere close to me in Western Mass. Of course I will be looking in the usual places Craigslist, Ebay, Autotrader etc. pickings are slim ! I know that this might be the wrong section in the board to post this. But I find the For Sale section is mostly filled with Loyale and GL stuff. I was hoping for more eyes to see this !! Hi ALL! I'm replacing both my 9003/H4 pigtails on my '97 GT Wgn. Both are fried, one more than the other. I'm getting them on Ebay, both are ceramic. I was going to snip and solder them togther and then shrink wrap them (then I have to get some !) , I do have a cordless soldering iron ,great toy ! OR is that just ovekill? I have those colored plastic crimp things, is that good enough ? THX, SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I like the new Outback, has nothing to do with the old one, except the name. My brother has one, very different from his old Outback, try SUV now. As I took a ride in it...I was wondering...what is it really??! IS it just a reskinned Tribecca? I suspect that the Tri just doesn't sell that well, I'm in New England, Subee country, haven't seen that many of them? Just wondering! Ted

Hi ALL and thanks! It's time for my timing belt to be replaced. I also need a serpatine belt. So I have an SAE mechanic buddy that has Subee experience that'll do it all! What do you think of these parts guys,importexperts ? I've heard only good things about them here! I'de like to have them put a package together including EVERYTHING! Oil, water pumps, idlers, Belts, thermastat, Oil seal etc. Do I really need an idler? Many thanks to ALL!! SCARE is ON! I just went out to visit friends, about ten miles away. No problems out. But on return,Oil Light went on, basically stayed on! It tries going off with RPM. I have planty of oil in car. It doesn't do any clicking and clacking as if out of oil or pressure! Does burn any out the tail pipe, no leaks! Could a sensor go bad? Can you see our here if oil pump isn't working well?? How can you check oil pressure otherwise? HELp !! SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I have a '97 GT Wgn,with the DOHC 2.5. Last night I went out to my normal watering hole for a beer and some pool. Were I go the road is hilly. So I drove up this continuos grade that runs for about a half mile, then you have to stop, then I take a very short left here, then stop again. Well right in here my Oil Light comes ON! I've never seen an oil light come on in the 33 years of driving, I change my own oil for that many etc. I changed my oil about 3 months ago, which is about 2500 miles in this case. Well.... were I was going is only a few hundred feet more, and I DIDN"T hear that clicking, clacking of the valve train going dry!! So I parked, slight incline, checked oil.....NOTHING on stick. Of course I checked right after stopping, no time for oil really to settle! ANYHOW.... I carry oil with me, I only had a 1/4 of a quart, restarted car, oil light STILL on! I went into bar, asked around, some people carry oil in there vehicles, maybe I could "borrow" a quart! Nope, no luck there! Anyhow some wonderfull woman who I hardly know lent me here newish Hyndai Sonata so I could drive to the nearest market, were I got 3 quarts of oil! I returned shortly, put 1 quart in, oil on stick...now slightly over full! So...what gives??? NO clicking, clacking, was it just an anomaly!? I drove home, it's about 12 miles no problems!! Any ideas? SubeeTed

Hi! That's for ALL that info! The instuctions say that I should just take of the nut and the next 2 pieces. Then pull the mast out with sleeve, then simply feed the new one in when you shut the radio off and it recoils back into the unit. Those other pieces after the nut are plastic, I didn't want to start pounding on them, fearing maybe they are screwed on or something! THX, SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I bought one of those replacement mast's off of Ebay. It says they'll send detail instructions, well there generic instructions! I got the "special" nut off. Then I stopped. Everything is plastic, there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to remove the next two pieces to get the mast out. I have the Legacy Subee Service manual on CD, I can't find antenna on it. It doesn't have a good index. Anyone out there with info...pix? Many thanks, SubeeTed

Hi ALL! I have a 1997 Subee GT Wagon. I suspect the teeth are gone on my rear mounted factory antenna. It will only go about halfway up. I do here that motor working. Just how much of a PAIN is this to fix myself? I see on Ebay these Antenna people will sell you a mast, the supposedly will fit and fix the problem! Anyone have any experience with this??? Just how much is it a pain to get to the Power Antenna in a wagon? MANY thanks, SubeeTed
