Hi all! Well my CEL came on again! And it happened again in the same way! I was going down the Turnpike...cruise control 73 MPH, then it comes on! This happened back in August, same Turnpike, same cruise speed. That time it did a little flashing, not this time! Back in August I went to my buddies garage, it had the code P0303, misfire cylinder #3. All we did was clear the code, nothing happed for a few days. I snooped around here, the recomonadations I found were the usual, replace Plugs, Wires, Coil. Well I did ALL that back when the car had another code, that said misfire #1. These parts have 35K miles on them, not exactly old! The car runs fine, no skipping, no hard starting. Back in August with the first round of this problem (CEL P0303) added some Fuel System (Chevron Techtron) Cleaner, it's the only other suggestion I did do anything about (bad injectors) I did notice that the car was a little peppier, my gas milage rose by 1 mile per G or so. So what gives?? It runs fine, I just cleared the code today, I doubt it comes back! What DOES highway driving do to cause this? I have 163K miles on the car, it had a rebuild at 80k, the blown cylinder problem, it has a new lower end, and YES, new Head Gaskets! Many thanks, SubeeTed

Hi all! I have a 1997 GT Legacy Wagon, with a 5 speed of course. I know the problem is that clutch safety switch. Sometimes my floor mat gets in the way. In the last few mornings that switch is getting harder to activate. Just were is this switch? Can it be adjusted? My car has 160K miles on it. Can it be bypassed? Or....just how easy is it to replace? Yes I have Cruise Control! Many thanks, SubeeTed

Hi all! We all know that we are supposed to buy 4 NEW tires for our AWD Subee's because of the Xfer Case blow up problem. My questions IS this! When you have 4 tires that are older...one blows. When you put on that shiney never used Donut Spare, will it fry up that Xfer Case because it's new and it's circumference is bigger, therefore not making Xfer Case Happy!! Do you have to pull out that mystery fuse that enables the AWD system? HMMmm SubeeTed

Hi all! I'm looking to replace my '97 GT wagon. I came across this at Autotrader.com. It looks like maybe a 2000 NOT a '94? I know you can tell by the VIN, but I don't know how to read it for that, they have it posted with the ad. Any guessers out there!? THX, SubeeTed http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=228339974&dealer_id=100002968&car_year=1994&num_records=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=128&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=75&marketZipError=false&color3=&color2=&search_lang=en&make=SUB&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&body_style=WAGON&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=2&sort_type=priceDESC&address=01236&advanced=&end_year=2008&doors=&transmission=Manual&max_price=7000&cardist=48

Hi! I had a similiar thing on my '97 2.5 DOHC. But it was #3. I replaced coil, wires, plugs. It ended up being...this IS weird! One of my valves was sticking! I finally brought my car to a REAL Subee guy! HE had a real Subee Code machine. He was able to see that the "Wait State" for one of the valves was TOO long! This thru the code. I had a Valve adjustment done, this 2.5 DOHC is a shim engine. After that, code gone! Good Luck!! SubeeTed

Hi all! Well my '97 GT Legacy Wgn is up to new noises AGAIN! I've got this sort of high pitched noise from the rear! I've brought it to my mechanic, we had it on the lift. We spun the tires around listening for some tell tale bearing noise...nothing! OK, I said, it sounds like tire cupping, my Good Year Assurance's are only a year old. WE looked....NOTHING! ANY IDEAS??? I searched threads awhile ago, I found the one that someone had a step-by-step procedure on installling REAR Bearings, including PICS! I didn't bookmark it! I beleive it's at another Legacy Forum. ? I was talking to my mechanic about the rear bearings, and what a pain they are to do. He said something about it's because you can't remove this long bolt, that he had to do it a different way, longer of course, more $! I'm in MAss, I suspect this long bolt is rusted in, anyone really know what he's refering to? Many thanks!!!!!! SubeTed

Hi all ! I was wondering if anyone out there that has a Legacy GT with 205/55/16 tires, reduced the size of there tire, when they got a set of true Winter Tires mounted on another set of rims? I'm asking because the next time I get another GT, I might get another set of wheels and TRUE snow tires that are more Narrower? Just so the snow has someplace to go. And of course is it SAFE?? Will it srew up suspension geometry? Thanks, Ted

Hi! I came across these cheap O2 sensors on Ebay. I have NOT bought any of these. This one is a 3 wire one, they have others for Subee's. I don't know what fits on your particular Subee. I'm not shure what fits in my '97 2.5 DOHC. I know I have 2 of them. I wonder if they are any good? Just my 2 pennis, SubeeTed http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OXYGEN-SENSOR-subaru-SVX-92-97-96-95-94-93-1992-1997_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42610QQihZ014QQitemZ330085022170QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

If I was concernd mostly about Ice and Snow driving. I would simply get a set of TRUE winter tires, then of course a set of summer tires. About the 80K thing....it IS the 21 Century! I hope that someone would improve tire technolgy just by the passing of time. We've had 60K tires now for decades! Besides, I think that Michelen has a 80K tire for years!

HI! I bought a set of 4, back in April. I returned them in a couple of weeks! I have a '97 GT wagon, that takes 205/55/16 tires. The Gt has heftier suspension than "Normal" Subee's. When I put these WR's on I saw an instant down grade in drive feel! I returned them! They are also only a 60K mile tire. I got GoodYear Assurance Triple treads. MUCH better! They are a 80K tire! My 2 Cents! Ted

Hi all! Well I let it sit out in the sun on it's edge. It was hot and dry (for a change) here in MAss. There was also a slight breeze. I let it sit out for a few hours, till the water stopped oozing. Then a little bit more! I took a look at the filter, it looked great, nice red oil evenly applied everywhere! Thanks evryone! Now I have to get the top half to the air box because I broke those STUPID tabs on the bottom when I took the filter out! I forgot about them!!! C YA ALL, SubeeTed

Hi ALL! Well I TRIED cleaning my K&N Panel Filter for my 2.5 GT DOHC. I haven't cleaned it since it was new 3 years ago! So I yanked filter, tapped it, got large stuff off, then I took a painting brush to it for the rest. I read the instructions over and over. So I soaked it with THERE cleaning fluid. I let set for about 20 minutes like the instructions state. I rinced it in tap water. I started doing this last eve.. I knew I wasn't going to go anywhere with the car, so the filter could AIR dry overnight on my back enclosed porch, always hot out there, it sat overniht on a shop towel. I picked it up his am, felt dry to me! So I then started putting THERE oil on it with the squeeze bottle. I did that, let it rest for 20 mins, then touched it up! So I started working on other things on my car, more intense headlight bulbs, change oil, reglue body trim. I cleaned out the air box. So then I picked up panel filter......water came ozing out of it! All the time I was cleaning it I had it flat, so NOT to confuse the top with the bottom. I never tilted it! SOoooooooooo now I have it out in the sun, standing on end with water oozing out of it! YA......oil and water don't mix!! SO! IS filter harmed?? IF I install filter with some trace of water WILL it harm MAF, engine???? HELP!?? ME STUPID!!! Thanks, Subeeted!!

Hi ALL! Well....I've had this K&N panel filter in my '97 2.5 DOHC GT for awhile now. I've always toyed with the idea of going to the slavage yard....getting another LOWER part of the airBox, drilling large holes into the box and fender well! ANYONE out there do this? Just what IS on the other side of the metal of the fender? Is there an airspace between it, and the inner fender well? Or is this idea a waste of time because I live in MAss, and in the winter ALL this junk will just make a mess of things???? Thanks, SubeeTed
