  1. The clutch pedal was so worn out it wasn't allowing me to properly adjust the clutch. Replaced the pedal assembly and its been fine ever since. Even with the 30's
  2. Axle carnage pics. This one was 3 days old. This made me miss the Walker run
  3. Does anybody know the Cardone part number for the 23 spline axles for the ea82? Thinking I might give them a try. Blew up another Orileys set this weekend. Even after I lowered the front end down. They where 3 days old. I'll post pics later. Also, did they make oem 6 ball front cv's for the ea82 or just the tripod style? Thinking I might make a beefy set of those but an aftermarket set I could just drop in is preferred.
  4. Currently talking to RCV about getting a better cage and race for the cv's.
  5. Bad mounts where my first thought but none of them seem bad and I can move the whole car if I grab the engine/trans and shake it. Axles, control arms, and knuckles are ea82.
  6. I'm pretty good at replacing them by now haha. And OEM Subaru axles are like $410 a piece. No thanks. For that price I would rather have some custom made. I think my most recent cv issue was actually loose steering components but only time will tell. But I'd still like to be able to run suspension lift with the big tires.
  7. Aftermarket. Import Direct Orileys house brand
  8. Has anybody else had problems with destroying cv axles with large tires? I currently have 30/9.5r15 and even with only running 11 degrees of axle angle they still keep popping and this is after I lowered it back down from 21 degrees. Before with 26s axles would last around 6 months. Now they wont last for more then 2 weeks.I know Im not the only one running big tires. This is at highway speeds for 60 miles every day. Its on my 80 gl with ea82 control arms, ej25, and 5 speed dr. Thinking about getting some custom ones built. Either from RCV or The Driveshaft Shop. Has anybody had any experience with either of these or any others? Ive seen a couple of threads about RCV axles but never an actual response on quoted price or if they where ever ordered/quality.
  9. That explains why I kept blowing cv axles with 2 inches of suspension lift and the 30's. I lowered it back down and they seem to be doing ok. I'll have to keep that in mind when I make my next lift kit. I wouldn't be caught dead in a geo haha but a different daily would definitely be in my best interest
  10. Believe me, it felt really weird typing it.
  11. I had to lower the front back down to keep from popping cv's. I went back to the original struts. Its been 3 days and no problems since. Before the cvs never made it more then 100 miles. Its a little low for what I would like but I think it works out good. Playing around with the forklift today Damn I look good Finished installing the battery box I figured the sticker was appropriate since its not your typical Portland subaru I plan on doing a little more clearancing to the front fenders this weekend
  12. Is anybody running 6+ inches of lift on a daily? Or something that sees frequent highway use? How well does it handle it? I drive 60 miles a day at 55+ to work and need to know it can be done. I need more clearance for the bigger tires haha. 6inches + ej weight is just a hair too short for 30's. Thanks in advance
  13. Drove to work today and didn't make it home. Axles blew up again... Caused a horrible shaking in the steering wheel. And now I've used up all of my AAA. Oh well. I'm currently replacing the axles and I'm going to swap back to the stock struts. I think the weird struts I have are puting too much stress on the axles. I sure am glad Orileys had a lifetime warranty on their Import Direct axles haha
  14. Absolute trash. First set lasted my a day. Second set lasted less then a week. I do NOT recomend them
  15. Its time for an update since it looks quit a bit different now EJ25D 5 speed D/R converted to dual stick Custom SJR 6 inch strut top blocks 30x9.5 Maxxis Bighorns on 15x7 American racing wheels with 3.5 inch backspacing Clearance is 14 inches at the front crossmember and 13 at rear diff
  16. All I do is break things lol. Drivers side outer bearing cage exploded on Friday. I made it to work but I had to have it towed home. changing axles is such a pain in the rump roast with this setup. I have to put on spring compressors, ratchetstrap the strut back and use a jack to compress the strut enough to install thew balljoint I got my new battery box today. Might get that set up tomorrow The recap205/65 (26's) next to the 30x9.5 Maxxis Bighorns
  17. I ordered them from rock auto and I'm not sure about their return policy's. I might make a few calls on Monday and see what my options are. If they won't return them I'll take them apart and take lots of pictures
  18. This time the driver side outer cv joint cage exploded. I'm post pics later tonight when I have acces to a computer
  19. The ea81 is 2 inches shorter on each side so I swapped to ea82 control arms witch are 1.5 inches longer then the ea81 ones. I then widened the subframe .5 inch on each side to give me the correct width
  20. On my last set of Suretrack EA axles I stripped out the splines where the inner cv connects to the axle shaft. I think it's because those splines are very small. The first time I broke it was with 1.5 inches of suspension lift, 26 inch tires, and the stock ea71. Now I have 2 inches of suspension lift, 30 inch tires, an an ej25. I've had good luck with my Orileys axles. They lasted 5 months before they started to sound bad. I've had axles get so worn out that it welt like I was driving on washboard, and I drove it like that for a week before I could replace them. Suretrack are the only axles I've had fail to the point of not being able to drive the car
  21. They don't hit the ea81 crossmember. I was taking off from a stop light very carefully because I knew these axles where iffy and I got a horrible vibration. I powered through it and it stopped after 30ft. I drove the other 20 miles to work and when I was pulling into my parking lot at work the axle tried to seize and pulled me hard right. After work I got the car towed home. Even just driving into my garage was hard because the axle kept skipping and catching and trying to pull the wheel out of my hands. I should know exactly what went wrong in about an hour or so.
