  1. Hi I've got a 91 Loyale 5 speed 4wd that has been making a slight clicking sound when turning. Thought it was just a CV joint maybe. Took off the front wheel and put it up on blocks. When I put it in gear only the front left axle moves no matter which way you turn the wheel! The right axle isn't moving at all even right where it comes out of the transmission! Could I just throw a new right axle in there? Maybe the splines are stripped? Help! I need this beast running to get to school. Thanks, Bobby
  2. I've got a 91 loyale 5-speed and I've narrowed down my problems to being a disfunctional fuel pump. I'm wondering if I can put an aftermarket inline pump on or if I should just bite the bullet and shell out $140 on a new one? Money is tight but I do want it to last a good while and be reliable because the car's my daily driver. Thanks, Bobby
  3. Ok thanks. I've been reading that you can put a fuel pump from a late 80s ford f150 on there and do fine. Does anyone have experience with that? They seem to cost 25 vs 200 bucks!
  4. Hi, I've got a 91 loyale 5 speed. A couple weeks ago I was coming back from school late one night and all of a sudden it had absolutely no power. I started stalling just to get up a hill. Well I finally got it on a flat it could only go about 45 mph and not go into 5th at all. I thought for sure a head gasket must have blown but the oil looks fine. Took it to a mechanic and he said the fuel pressure was 2 psi...could the fuel pump be shot? Seems weird that it would go out all of a sudden. Help! Thanks, Bobby
  5. Thanks for the replies! I will definitely try and figure out the EGR problem before I do anything else. Could an old or dirty O2 sensor affect performance even if it's not setting off a trouble code?
  6. Hi, I'm new here so sorry if this has been discussed before but I haven't seen too much on it. The question is how do I get the best mileage out of my 91 loyale? I just got it and it gets about 25mpg. I know that decent but I'd say it should be better considering it's such a light car with a 1.8L that only puts out 90HP. I've read that disconnecting the power steering at give +2 mpg? The check engine light does come on but it's giving code 34 which is the EGR solenoid. The way I understand it that should only effect idle performance? Are performance chips like the one in the link below just a joke? http://www.gainmpg.com/performance-chip-for-subaru-loyale Thanks, Bobby
