Heater problems (Update) help 1992 loyale
Dawes posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hi i posted a while back about having heater issues in my 1992 loyale. So i put the oem thermostat in and in made quite the difference my cars temp barley got above the operating temp now it gets to almost halfway on the gauge. So the heater works a little bit better but its still not hot... now im looking for input on where to look next, maybe heater core? it gets warm (keep in mind its 4 degrees where i am.) but just not hot. thanks!- 6 replies

i use 10w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter. ill have to check it out with the cooling system last winter i burped it several times and flushed heater core getting same temp out of both hoses and it was still cold...

just did some reading on an old post on the heater and gonna try getting a thermostat from the subie dealer, and checking out that fresh air inlet line behind the glovebox and see if that helps if you have any other ideas let me know.

Yeah i replaced the cam tower seals with OEM ones when i did my headgaskets. itd probably help if i had them machined and did a better gasket job. didn't cut any corners on the headgasket itself though. One more question? my heater is awful, car doesn't over heat, fresh thermostat and blower motor. but sometimes when i shut down the car it makes a bubbling noise...? any ideas on solving my heater issue and does the bubbling correlate

So i have a 1992 loyale, i replaced the head gaskets last winter. and im starting to get scared that im gonna have to tear it apart again. It leaks very slowly from the camshaft housing and valve cover, and has a tick when the motor is cold. My question is should i grow a pair, rip it apart and fix it or should i look at other options?

Hi I have a 92 loyale (with a/c) I have had problems with the alternator ground wire having a bad connection... And I'm guessing you all know how that turned out. Fixed that and I had bad alternator symptoms once again. So my question is.. After I test the alternator I'd like to replace the wiring is that something I can buy at an auto parts store.. Or should I just add new connections and hope it won't happen again? Thanks!

Curious about that 6 cylinder...? I don't know a whole lot about these engines so I'm just unsure where I would buy the drivetrain and how much it would be? Or which one to choose

So back to the swap... The ea82 is about 85hp. If I end up doing a swap I'd like around 150-200hp, so I'd probably need to do transmission, steering, suspension, and ecu... So what id like to know is what would be the best route to go for motors and parts... Or if it would even be worth the trouble

Id love to just save up and buy an sti but... They don't have a whole lot of ground clearence and I do a lot of off road driving. Now most people would just say buy a truck... Don't like gas trucks don't want 14mpg and don't want to deal with the spoob that comes along with buying a cheap diesel. And my loyale does just fine off road

I'm a mechanic so if be able to do all of the stuff on my own. I don't know though is it really worth spending a lot of money on an n/a ej I mean I'm not sure how much power that would really add...? input?

It's a 92 loyale ea82

On the edge of selling the car or swapping it... Is it worth it? Price range estimate? I already know mostly everything would need replaced
