Some people use a small pick tool...kind of like a dentists tool for scraping your teeth I tried this the first time and apend 45 mins per cam seal and was cussing up a storm Got to be careful not to scratch/gouge the alum. housing Based on recommendations here, I purchased this on ebay http://www.autobarn.net/lisleshaftpuller.html By coincidence I used it for the first time today WHAT a dream!....if it does not start moving right away...I tap it in a smig just to break it loose...then pull out If you take the oil pump out, its real easy to take out seal

Heated Seats
bgambino replied to nipper's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I thought that when I asked (here) about my 96 OB non functioning heated seat I was told it was impracical to replace them....I hope that is wrong as I would Love to have a heated seat this winter...anyone??? -
now my turn to add the the "lawyer" thing... After paying two crooked lawyers (make it 3 if you count the $7500 I had to pay my ex's lawyer) so much money....I would rather be a lawyer and bill out $250-$400 per hour...and have no clue how to turn a wrench Did we determine whether this is really a 2.2 or actually a 2.5? Roamer...if you are serious about getting rid of it, PM me

I remember reading that there are a couple of o-rings on the 2.2 that are not on the 2.5. I am going to be doing a T belt/WP/bearing replacement on my sons first car (96 2.2 legacy) I think I remember that the drivers side cam shaft seal is in a housing?...and there is an o-ring on it? is that right? And I think I read somewhere that there is an o-ring on the back side of the passenger head...? what is it there for? Can anyone confirm? I have all my parts from 1st suby (thanks Jon!)...but I need some stuff for my 2002 2.5 and thought I better get these o-rings (I despise paying the stealership) thanks guys

Great thread...LOL Goes to show how selfish people can be these days The "ME GENERATION"...it'a all about ME and MY rights.... Fine...let's say you don't want to wear seat belts. If you kill or maim yourself, I don't give a crap if you want to be a moron..knock yourself out But the fact is you pinhead...your selfish "freedoms" WILL affect others....your poor family will have to take care of your limp vegetative body for the rest of your pathatic life..(ruining theirs) And your $100,000,000 in operations and continued medical care affects all of us in driving up our costs Never mind if you come out without a scratch and ruin the lives of someone else (due to not wanting your lights on) Can't you see that your pride and selfishness is getting in the way of sound reasoning...and concern for your fellow man? What about the greater good? As Bob Grant used to echo...the world is sick and getting sicker....

thanks OBW99 I should have mentioned that mine is not a twin cam ,,,,and thank god for that because I'm not going to buy the special tool they say is required... I tried google searching for the end wrench artical for a 2.5 SOHC but no luck I sure would like to know the secret for finding it (do you have to belong to a special secret society?LOL) I'm still not clear tho if the SOHC also has those shims or is it simply like the old OHV subys....that was easy

Someone shared this link from endwrench.. http://www.endwrench.com/pdf/engine/FtEngineOverhaulSp98.pdf I went to the EW site but cannot locate this article simply by doing a search..? I wanted to get the same article on the 2.5 liter Specifically about valve adjustment procedures Anyone know how to find articles on there? Do you have to be a paid subscriber or something? thanks

I have a 2002 GT 2.5 and I want to do a valve adjustment. Anyone have the FSM procedure they could email me (Private Message me) Do you think this would be in Haynes? Also...why do I not have to adj my 96 OB 2.5 and I have to adj a newer (more improved?) model??? I used to have to adjust the old GL/DL OHV models I owned....

my 02 suby GT 2.5 When the engine cools down...the lower radiator gets sucked flat...like there has been a vacuum drawn... It's almost like it wants to such coolant back in from the overflow but its blocked (I'm not saying it is...its just that it would seem that way)--it should be sucking from the overflow tank and not collapsing right?

I'm driving my 02 Legacy GT home tonight and I thought I saw a flash of light a few times near the radio...then I saw it...it was the ring of light circling the ignition switch...it flickered on/off a few times...then stayed on. When I got home and shut car off, it stayed on...checked it 45 mins later and still on...sheesh! Anyone got ideas??? thanks

Thanks 2.5 and jermany I said "non-turbo" because I was not sure if there was a turbo that year Yes SOHC I am surprised a manual adjustment has to be made...I thought the wave over the years was to go with hydraulic lifters thus no need for adjustment Looking forward to the diagrams BTW....my DOHC 96 2.5 does not have these adjusters...so this seems like a move backwards in design...

screw adjusting type?...not the shim bucket arrangement in the 98 OB 2.5?? Is this anything like my first suby...my gutless but reliable 1980 DL 1.6 overhead valve engine..it had lock nuts that you would crack loose and then use a screw driver to make the adjustment...pretty easy. If this has the shim/bucket deal, I'll take it to a mechanic And is it 105k or 30 k intervals,,,we seem to have differing facts here.

Thanks Nip...LOL I figured I could count on you It just got OEM plugs...maybe I should check if they are the right type (check the receipt) I hate pinging Nip...you must have done a valve adjustment no? Is there a procedure anywhere? And can you explain again what the knock sensor is for if not for valve ping
