96 legacy sedan 2.2 164k my nieces car,..I bought it for my son who is turning 16 in august check out this section of the head gasket...corrosion..had more of a rust color before I power washed the engine Anyone have an idea if this is a precursor to the gasket failing? should I scrape it loose...spray a little wd-40 so maybe it does not keep corroding? Hope pic shows up

I have a 2002ljegacy that needs the P brake adjusted...the old cars (GL/Loyales) simply had the adjuster nut under the P brake lever...I liked that The newer generations have the elaborate rear drum brake set up...all for a simple parking brake:-\...the old days were so simple... Is the adjustment now done on each wheelthru the slot using the star type adjusting thingy? thanks

no need to touch the axle....just get a light down there andyour universal...it's the toughest connection to get acess to on the car I have the same car 96 OB wagon....bought for 400 with the HG condition. This was my first big job on the newer style subs. I would think you have read this board enough that you are doing all the necessary things...seals, TB, tensioners, WP, baffle plate, T stat...

so my new 2002 legacy GT has a pretty loud wind noise coming from the dr window...in the forward corner where the small speaker is mounted (tweeter?) If I push the vertical gasket seam tight against the window it gets quieter....but the slight gap there cannot be the issue as the pass. rubber gasket has the same gap and is quiet Put some masking tape over the gasket on the outside of window (same vertical seam) and it quiets down I noticed in the old owners records this statement on a dealer receipt "wind whistle left door..left door gussett out of adjustment...remove door panel and adjust gusset" I assume the fix worked -- it was when the car had 11k anyone familiar with this? thanks

70k Have a bunch of records from the original owner 30k i got the coolant treatment at 65k left side head gasket leaking and was replaced (sad that this still happens on a 2002) during the first year of ownership, one receipt states the cel coming on and car stalling--says"internal fault in ecm--remove ecm and send out for update" what does that mean--I never heard of it in jan of this year during a 60k servicing...one item states "fuel & emissions--replaced faulty AF sensor" --replacedp/n 22791aa00a $113---anyone know what that is?

the old wagon...hands down my first sub was a brand new 2wd 4 dr DL sedan with the 1.6 and a 5 spd....pretty gutless but amazingly reliable I have owned/bought& sold scores of the old GL's /Loyales 1.8's Yes they are under powered and not as comfortable as the newer legacy's....but I would feel much more secure on long range trips with that old simple engine design vs newer too many sensors and things to go wrong these days IMHO

Hondasucks You are soo right about the crank seal and the spring coming out. My first time doing it, I too thought it seemed logical to install the crank seal into the oil pump on the bench. Well, for some reason I had a heck of a time getting the seal to slide easily over the crank shaft....and the spring came out about 4 times on me. Since you ar a sub tech...help me out with a PIA problem....how do YOU get the cam shaft and crank shaft seals out??? When a shaft protrudes thru a seal, what do you use, some kind of hooked instrument?? That's the only thing I thought of but it was a total bear removing them...I was cussin and swearing and worried I was going to score the aluminum...thanks!

I have a 30 year old compression tester...probably used it 3 times I imagine this onewould be near impossible to use pn my 96 OB 2.5 What's a good brand that has the flexibility to get into this area?

Anyone had good or bad stories about them?

I figured I would never buy a sub with the 6 cyl for a few reasons...the 2.5 is powerful enough for me...why deal with less fuel economy...but more importantly...and engine I am not familiar with. But there is a nice one for sale...2001 LLB How much tougher are these to work on? (I've done HG job on my 2.5 96 OB etc)....does the 6 have a timing belt or what...how much more complicated is it (what is the service interval as this has 105k) I assume the compartment is much more cramped??? can you actually RR spark plugs?? it scares me... thanks
