  1. I attached youtube link to video of issue. I was changing the front driver CV axle of 2004 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. I was wondering if I pulled the male connector out of the transfer case (or maybe just transmission I dont really know) out. Because there is a lot of movement and I could not seem to push it back in to where it locked. I also didnt put much force on it. I am hoping this is not the case and that this is normal although I know that probably isnt the case. Either way if anyone knows or sees anything in the video or pictures that would be helpful. The car isn't worth much at all and I would rather just buy a different car than pay someone to work on the transmission. I did have to put the axle and wheel back on to roll the car in neutral a couple of feet and it seemed to work, but with the AWD the tire will spin if pushing the car. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. I also wanted to know that since it pulled out and I probably rotated the axle before I noticed this problem is there any chance to get it realigned myself if I need to or is just a small amount enough to completely through it out of whack.
  2. For starters 2004 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport 2.5L So a while ago a mechanic told me my boot was torn and he was correct, but I did not replace it at the time they just repacked it since I did not drive the car that often. It would make a popping noise when turning Right (normally when I accelerated through the turn). I should have addressed it earlier but did not since I didnt drive the car that much and had other things to spend money on. I finally got around to replacing it and got the part (see below) from O'reilly's, I think it was the right part the inner joint cylinder was a hexagon shape not round. Assuming it was the right part since they didnt look completely similar (same length but slight differences. Gear on the outer joint seemed a bit wider than the original.) the one i bought was re-manufactured. At first this seemed to fix things and I felt good about it. When I turned and accelerated through turns there was no more popping. However, the next day when I was turning Right again (and this was the passenger side I did the work on) making a somewhat fast turn and accelerating at the same time I heard about three pops though not as sharp as before and the check engine light flashed about 10 times before turning off. I was about 4 blocks from home so I drove back and parked it with no more CEL warnings. In all the time I dealt with the previous popping there was never any problem with CEL warning. I have not taken it up to Autozone or anything to get the code but will after work. I was throwing it out there for help on what to look for. It was dark but I did not really see any fluid leaking at the inner joint connection. Thanks for any help.
