Just got head gasket work done at 117k need suggestions for a good synthetic to use 98 forester 2.5 please indicate Number if its important. thanks for the suggestions in advance

Hi everyone, posted a thread last night about the temp guage running hot. Here is what i have done so far : fulshed and burped the radiator, changed the the thermostat, check for oil in coolant, checked for white smoke. When the temp is on H the coolant is cold when we opened and cheked. In normal cases the coolant should be boiling hot. I have read the threads about the head gasket, seems to me that my situation is pointing to that. However there is no white smoke from the tail pipe. Any thoughts or suggestions 8would be helpful. Thanks to all.

Just put up a thread that may be related to the same issue.Mine is a 98 forester and my mechanic has fulshed out the coolant and replaced the thermostat. the car still runs hot, however he did mention it could be a head gasket problem. Thanks for putting up ur info.

Help needed. 98 forester just bought it. Runs hot, flushed radiater new antifrieze, after a run locally the plastic reservoir gets filled up and suprts out coolant. Could there be a headgasket problem? also changed the thermostat. Good heat coming from the vents. Anyone have the same problem, need a solution. Thanks
