  1. I have an 89 Gl wagon that i purchased quite a few months ago to build into an off-road toy. Probably payed a little to much for the car although its not in terrible shape. Long story short i lifted the wagon even did wheels and tires. I was aware the motor was tired when I bought the car as it used coolant a few trips around town proved the problem to be worse than i thought. The car sat for a while and just a few weeks ago I pulled the motor. I sourced a low mileage unit via craigslist but i guess the seller didn't really want to ship it even though he said he would as he stopped contacting me. I figured this was the next best option. I'm looking for a healthy unit lower miles if possible willing to pay shipping or can pickup if your close I'm in KY.
  2. Pulled my old tired ea82 out would really love an ej swap. I have read some on the process but just getting opinions on cost difficulty and the best way of going about it.
  3. What head gaskets and misc re seal gaskets oil pan etc would you guys recommend?
  4. Can't really input much on long term handling. I did the same on my 89 for one night because the tire shop closed before I got the other two mounted. Did drive a short distance to a local mud pit car drove fine however a small set back to having different size tires is the car can get stuck in 4wd mine did that night. Easy fix just let the clutch out in reverse and push down on the lever should pop right out.
  5. Is there any way I can shoot you a video of the cars behavior? You seem to know your stuff and I'd really like to get this sorted out I'm new to these old subies.
  6. I can also vouch for this. Autozone got the wrong axle as well bought 2 and they were both incorrect splines were to big. Ended up finding two originals on eBay.
  7. Ok I will look into this. Could this be the culprit of the gas needing to be pumped on start up as well?
  8. What's the best way to go about checking that sensors operation?
  9. I have an 89 gl that's been having this issue since I got the car. Upon attempting to start it will fire then immediately die you have to pump the gas to get it to start. If you pump the gas get it started then hold the car at say 3,000 for a moment it will stay running.Once the gas is depressed it will then idle at 1,000 rpm and once warmed up will have light idle surge im stumped. I've checked vaccum cleaned IAV and engine has had a full tune up.
