Wire Harness for EA to EJ swap.
alexbuoy replied to ClassySoob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You will need the whole bulkhead harness under the dash. People use the fuel pumps from the SPFI EA82s and they work fine. I think my brats running something from a ford crown vic -
there is a little coolant hose under the intake manifold. check that if it’s leaking there it’s very hard to tell

My friend had “heavy duty” axles for his loyale and they were absolute trash

It would be a nightmare doing cam towers in the car. Pull the motor, only takes a couple hours at most, and while it’s out change the clutch too. No need for timing covers i would rip them out

EA81 to EA82 suspension swap lift block question
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thought i would update this. I cut my blocks at 5 degrees and camber turned out great. thanks for the help everyone -
My friend has swapped the quad lights onto his 91 Loyale. Pretty straightforward. you need the headlight buckets off the quadlights they bolt in iirc

EA81 to EA82 suspension swap lift block question
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
EA82 parts are easier to come by, i get power steering and stronger axles. I’ve got a stash of parts just in case a spindle or strut breaks. I also like the look of a wider front track, it only pushes the tires out 1.75” iirc -
EA81 to EA82 suspension swap lift block question
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the blocks will be an adapter from the ea81 two bolt tops to the ea82 3 bolt tops. i’ve been hearing a wide range of angles to make it work from 0 degrees all the way to 17 degrees -
EA81 to EA82 suspension swap lift block question
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes i will be using the complete EA82 suspension, control arms hubs etc. that’s probably what I have to do, maybe mock it up with PVC piping haha. -
Hello I have a 1982 Subaru brat that i’m putting EA82 front suspension and a 4 inch lift on. Does anyone know what degree angle i’m supposed to cut the front strut blocks? I know for EA81 you cut the blocks at 14 degrees and EA82 18 degrees. Somebody told me his EA81 to EA82 strut blocks were cut at 8 degrees. I’m not sure what degree to cut it at.

are loyales /gls making a comeback
alexbuoy replied to ferp420's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
where i live the prices for loyale's/Gl's have been going up. couple years ago nice ones running and smogged where selling for less than $500 all day. now a junk non running gl is asking $1000+. -
IIRC there is a small 90 degree coolant line under the intake manifold that you should check. mine was split causing lots of coolant to spill out on top of the block but i didn't find it for a while.

Ej22 swapped fusible links problem
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That makes sense I thought it had to do something with the old wiring not being able to handle the load.. Will do that today. And is my alternator wired in correctly? obviously fat white main charge wire is getting bypassed to go to the battery with fusible link tied in. yellow wire from alt plug to black/white on harness black/white from alt plug to white/red on harness. but reading online people have said on 95+ ej alternators you need only two wires which are the white/red for the charge lamp and the main charge wire. My ej22 is out of a 1998 OBS and it's in my 1991 Loyale -
Ej22 swapped fusible links problem
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i have my alt wired thru the original harness also. has to be something up with my charging system. on your ej swapped ea81 did you wire the big fat wire directly to the fuse link box? -
Ej22 swapped fusible links problem
alexbuoy replied to alexbuoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
OK just replaced the alternator with one from oreillys and IM STILL BURNING MY FUSES, but only under load like when my headlights are on. Not quite burning but the black fusible link gets wayyy to hot. What does the black fusible link tied into. if I pull my charging fuse, the link doesn't fry. Alternator wiring wrong? i've had my swap for 6 months running perfect! Please help i'm so frustrated -
Hesitation during acceleration after running

Doubt it's an o2 sensor. double check your vacuum lines. i'd guess it's the coil too -
Low milage 1990 Loyale value
alexbuoy replied to tjones9193's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
and i bought a 1991 loyale running and driving for $500. it was the damn cleanest loyale i've seen and the interior was perfect -
Low milage 1990 Loyale value
alexbuoy replied to tjones9193's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
realistically you'll get around 3-4k tops. nice loyale's and gl's down here go for super cheap. -
I know the front clip from an 82 brat is different from the 83+ brats. I have an 82 brat and picked up quad headlights. I've already drilled out the spotwelds for the dual lights and started to cut into the front clip, and it seems like quads will fit. Is this conversion possible or am I wasting my time?

I don't believe anybody makes preformed panels for the EA81. Best bet is to cut it out of a non rusted body. I know rocker panels can fit from the ea82 series and there is a couple sites that sells panels for loyales

Bingo pulled the 15a fuse for Charge and now the fusible link doesn't get hot. Gonma get my Alt checked and see if it's that
