  1. and I should add that it runs great for 30 seconds until the black fusible link gets too hot
  2. Hi all, i have an ej22 swapped loyale that has been running great for the past couple of months until now. I keep burning up the black fusible link. Thinking it has to do with the ej22 harness that i had trimmed. What can cause the black fusible link to burn up? Bad grounds? Shorted wires? any ideas where to check would be great. TiA
  3. For seals your gonna want to do oil pump, oil pan, valver cover, and cam seals at the minimum. Resealing the engine is really straightforward. Oil pan I wouldn't use those cork gaskets, use Permatex The Right Stuff. Don't get those cheap reseal kits too, i've had good luck with Felpro. Might as well do timing belt too.
  4. I've spent this whole day on researching about improving travel for EA82. Not trying to make it long travel, just trying to gain a couple more inches of flex. IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS ON INCREASING REAR SUSPENSION TRAVEL PLEASE CHIME IN!! I'm not very knowledgable in suspension stuff, so if I sound like a complete dumbass now you know why A popular upgrade for ea82 rear suspension is swapping in 4runner struts. So I did some research on the 4runner forums and found that a common thing to do was putting in Bilstein 24-188265 (part # for tundra, need to find tacoma) shock absorbers in place of the front struts. These shock absorbers are adjustable providing 0 - 2.75 inches of lift (so no more rear lift blocks???). The 4Runner folks use taller springs in bilstein shocks to gain a couple inches of lift. Fully extended the bilsteins are 18.7 inches. Not sure the inches of a fully extended EA82 rear shock is, but I am sure this is an improvement? If I were to put these into the rear end of my 91 Loyale will it even work? I'm thinking if 4runner shock absorbers fit than these bilsteins have to work too.. So onto increasing rear travel. If these shocks extend more than Loyale shocks (I think) than it has to increase flex at full droop. What else is limiting the rump roast end from flexing? I know axles will limit you but if I do this I plan on dropping the rear diff enough to compensate for the flex. So are -the bushings going to tweak not letting suspension max out -shocks still not going to extend enough Is this going to work or am I a complete dumbass?
  5. sounds like an axle to me. even if you replaced it "new" with a parts store axle it can click out of the box.
  6. if you drop your subframe 1.5inch is standard for a 2 Inch. 90-94 legacy steering coupler will work
  7. GLoyale and GD you guys are a huge help!! I hooked pin 85 to ign on and 17,18 to ground and it started right up!!!!! Thank you guys so much for your help! To do: 1. Figure out the fat vacuum leaks 2. Still have to figure out the FPR (only have it connected to constant 12V) 3. Figure why when key is out on off ign is still on
  8. Thanks for the replies everyone. Here is the pinout for my ECU My harness was stripped by a reputable person, but I do not know how well the job was done (said a couple wires he didn't know what to do). Right now the wires going to pin 81 (at/mt identification), 17,18 (control systems) are not connected to anything. Should those be grounded? I know the relay itself is good for the fuel pump, i have 3 different ones that I tried. I'm going to try my ecu in another car tomorrow to see if my ecu is good.
  9. The single spade is for the temp sensor on the dash. The green connector is the one for the ecu. The green connector is the one that controls fuel, and with a bad temp sensor for the ecu it will be hard to start a warm engine. don't quote me on this i don't remember on the top of my head
  10. Yes OBDII and came from a car with manual ABS. Haven't thought about anti theft, as the harness did come with a high end alarm... It is pretty much a headache I've literally triple checked all of my wiring, grounds, and everything seems to be where it should be
  11. Hello everybody I'm a newb at harnesses, so please bear with me. It's a 98 outback sport ej2.2 going into a 91 loyale. Harness trimmed already by ADF. Both power wires coming from the EJ fuel pump relay (FPR) are showing 12V constant, and i do not hear the FPR click when ign is on. Obviously thats not good, should any of the wires coming from the FPR be grounded? Another issue is when I have the fuel pump connected to constant 12V it won't start. It starts with starter fluid no problem. Injectors are getting 12v, but the ECU is not sending the ground signal! All of my grounds are good, I can not figure it out!! TL;DR Fuel pump relay power wires constant 12V. Injectors not firing, not receiving ground signal from ECU. please help my head hurts Be as blunt as you want, anything helps
  12. i wouldn't go over 27s either. i have 29s on a 2 inch lift and it really sucks. rubs like mad after a lot of trimming and it kills the power
  13. My white 1991 subaru loyale 2 inch lift and a dual range swap. that car has definitely seen better days. I also have a red 1991 loyale, super clean and bone stock. i've been thinking about lowering this one
  14. keep us posted on how the HD axles do. I've broken too many axles they aren't honoring my lifetime warranty anymore
  15. I've heard people having success letting it soak with penetrating oil for Days. You might want to use some heat too, but be careful there is a rubber seal where the diff stub seats. Axle cups are pretty strong, so you can give some solid hits with a hammer around the cup. If all else fails, break the axle down to the cup and remove the diff stub thru the cup and find a replacement stub and axle. Had to do that once and it was a PITA
  16. Also check the maf, mine would do the same and found out the maf was unplugged
  17. I'm running aftermarket lifetime axles on my Subaru and they blow. The other day on the freeway my axle felt like It seized and it jerked my steering hard to the right. Every other week they break but oh well they are lifetime warranty. Someone needs to make a better axle that doesn't blow up!!
  18. You can redrill the 6 lug toyota rims to 4 lug really easy. I did it in my garage it took an hour for all four
  19. I've never done a hg job, but I'm willing to lend a hand. I'm located in the San Fernando Valley
  20. Power is horrible which is expected. Can't get over 65 on freeways. It would be very hard to do any trails if steep, unless you swap a dual range. Out of all the things I've done, swapping a dual range was the best
  21. I have a 2 inch lift with 235/75/15 mt tires and I have a good amount of ground clearance. Almost as much as my 4Runner on 31's
