(Yes, I read the sticky) 27" SSRs On Loyale Without Lift?
Scott in Bellingham replied to thatswhatshesaid's topic in Off Road
to fit o the rear :the mud flaps will need to be removed , trim bottom corners and roll the whole edge about 1" , as you beat on the lip it will naturally want to roll under about 1", for the front it will require quiet a bit of beating at the rear where the body starts, the fender will also need trimmed , once all done show us a picture SJR -
if you get a small winch also get a pulley (or block) so you can double the strength, also so you can pull around corners, I used my 8000 lb ramsey last time out, it wasnt for me but the guy with the brocken hub in the Isuzu trooper, I set up with bumper against a tree and used the pulley to get inline with him, we used all 80 ft of the cable, go bigger if you can, there will come a time when you will be glad you got the bigger one SJR

Cant do it anymore
Scott in Bellingham replied to Turbone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good one Rob Im not disapointed, I would much rather se that machine of your in your hands having a blast with it on the trails, Its to tell the truth a relief your keeping it, even if i got it for a good deal, it would still require a day to go pick it up then the parts and labor to fix it then, I would still have way to many projects going and not get out and enjoy them as I should, I have this disorder of such I get excited and start new projects when the old projects are in no way of being finished or completed ,when you do get that beast going we need to plan a all out super subaru offroading event so all this web wheelin compitition can see some truth as the rubber hits the trails, :banana:SJR -

Im still learning myself, it also may be different in the US , -
Im building something similar to this based on a legacy wagon componants , figure it should be strong enough ,will be extra light , will be running 31" tires ( yes had to move the struts up to clear ) only time will tell if the axles will hold up

has anyone broke an ea82 axle or legacy axle ?? , reason I ask is Im wanting to know the limits of these parts , the newer legacy/impreza stuff looks pretty tough , but are they??
-

my plans are to take a Legacy and use all the important stuff and the firewall with the vin number , and build up my own vehicle with lights and all and use the legacy title if done properly you could get it inspected and be issued a new title and license for the road, like a old car hot rod or kit car people do it all the time

Heres mine 87 GL 6" SJR lift 30 x 950 Kooks EJ 2.2
-
I run my diff at 1" slope front to back over stock had no issues in over a year
-
I would use a EJ engine hooked to a Dual Range Transaxle , legacy running gear is strongest and good brakes with larger tires,
