  1. we finally got started on the project in the shop heres what it looks like after a afternoon of choppin thanks Clayton for the help took some measurements of the ranger tranny , looks pretty long, reconsidering , loooking at the old Jeep tranny/transfercase, T-90 , its pretty compact. going to look at a set of tires this week they are 30 x 9.5 BFG M/T looks like move front axle ahead 6-7 inches, this will allow the diff punkin to slip up were the stock engine crossmember was, extend rear 10" , so finished wheeelbase 4" short of stock. thinking of installing airshocks in the rear to assist the stock shocks as they will now be 1/3 way up the swingarm , also maybe convert the stock air conditioner pump into a air compressor to have on board air and valves on the dash to control the shocks from drivers seat
  2. on a stock ea82 max camber is 2.5 degree ( I know its a ea81 )
  3. just go wheelin it will work. heres what mine looks like , the cross member is dropped 2 " and the struts 3-1/2 " so it has a little more camber then stock ,also the higher you go and the larger the tire it just looks more noticable , remember your building this to improve offroad proformence , it will handle worse on the freeway then it did in stock form,
  4. not sure on year , it seem lancruiser shocks work on a 3 -4" lift
  5. adding forgot colateral damage this is what happens when you stand behind a wheel thats spinning in the rocks , I was helping push 1 eyes brat and it shot a rock at my leg , looks bad but its ok , I didnt even have a first aid kit ( next time will)
  6. I guy at work has a nissan pickup with dual sparkplugs a Z motor this is the cap it uses 2 coils and this funky cap with 2 coil wire inputs we can make it work
  7. the nut , washer , and rubber snubber had fallen off the pas side radius rod , nothing broke or bent , did discover a few good scratches and gouges under the car
  8. this is what we forund we got it done last night 4 of us ganged up on it check out the purple heat distortion, wheres the fiber? heres why it wouldnt release , and the p plate fingers in/out I want to thank all the guys for the help , it drove great on the way to work today , next time we go wheelin ill have to be nicer to it
  9. EA82 with timing belts. the EA81 wouldnt work unless you made a new cam , its pushrod
  10. well after driving 1/2 the week with no release on the clutch, starting off on the starter in gear shifting grinding on the fly tonight I will be dropping the dual range fixing the problem , anyone interested in coming by is welcome , well also be looking at a ea81 hatch and make a battle plan to lift it, we should look at the turbo car and start stripin it for the sawzall surgery to take place to , maybe we should make wed evenings shop/meeting night and make plans for the next trail run for the end of febuary
  11. help where can I get a clutch disc by friday at a good price Im in bellingham WA for a EA82 4x4
  12. I thought I would give you all a update on the project heres my current thoughts as they keep evolving EA82 turbo car (got one in the shop ) shortened 20" in the middle making one door access , move rear axle back a bit , keeping stock swing arm pivot up high , and extending swingarm down and back, keep rear shock in stock placment , add a second set next to them , with the lengthened swingarm and the stock shock placement this will give it more travel in the rear, up front move the front axle ahead 4-8 " keeping stock radius pivot up high or just fab up some new ones with new pivot points, wheelbase should end up 4-8" short of stock, 6-8" lift, convert ford ranger 4x4 transmission into a combo transfercase plus lots of extra low gears, this will be behind the stock soob 5 speed dual range, run 30" tires, heres a computer generated pic:
  13. sounds more like green with moss:D maybe next time out, hope to see you on the trail soon SJR
  14. got a bunch of video , just dont know how to post it for ye all , damage report 1 eye broke a front drivers axle he just installed the night befor I cooked my clutch , it was working just fine untill on the way home on normal roads the release mech gave out , its not slipping you just cant release it , you push it in and theres a werring sound the hatch broke a front turn signal and grill, we all had a great time , the new car is awesome , couldnt of went were we went without the welded diff looking forward to next month , one of the guys mentioned a spot out near Hamilton I think skagit area
