so if you add a nissan transfercase with a 2:1 ratio your final crawl ratio would be 44

I keep seeing this term, "Crawl Ratio" now how is it figured out ? is it the low dual range gear x 1st gear x diff ratio ? what are the stock Soobs? what is like the ideal ratio for offroad?

Vernon WA , understand its a area were you would need a lift and tires, would like to go out maybe after the new year , whos up to it? , would be good to have a winch along and some experiance , maybe theres a few thats been up before , maybe even a Jeep or a Truck , it should be fun. WCSS8 Where will it be?
Scott in Bellingham replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
James regardless of where and when the WCSS8 will be I think it would be cool if we (the subaru offroad community) could set up some type of compitition , more specialized toward ,rally, offroad , , there could be a hill climb compitition, mud bog compitition, , rally course ,, technical course , car show aimed towards "Offroad" , etc., ect., something for everyone who likes to take thier car and skills to the limit offroad, if we get organized thier could even be a event every other month or every quarter, up and down the coast, one meet could be in NW wash another SW WA , another in NW OR, and so on , the kick off to get the interest and ball rolling could be held at the AA Factory with all its amentities Scott -

Scott in Bellingham replied to FirstSubaruGLwagon's topic in Subaru Transplants
if your good with the mig welder you could do it in steel , take the stock soobie , remove body peices unwanted, weld up a light framework, say 1x1 tubing and weld or pop rivit panels on it heres a soobie I found on a ausssie site -
Ok Ive done a little research looks like the Nissan transfercase slips right in with the same franges , I noticed one guy used a Suzuki samauri transfercase , Im doing a transfercase conversion on another wagon EA82 I have, wondering what are all the options , If I go with the Sammi case which I already have whats involved with hookin that up? any adverse problems with that choice? is there any other options maybe a older jeep t-case or ? trying to do it with a 6" lift , may end up with 8" lift, the nissan case seems a little bulky compared to the sammi case , thanks

Anybody remember ORSA?
Scott in Bellingham replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
sounds good , organized events and competition would be a good thing -
if you could get a look at a installed lift there pretty easy to duplicate, the only "tricky" part is the front strut top extention , needs to be built as to not change the stock wheel camber , you can do 2" without much work, check this thread has a few pictures ,http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46508
