  1. The seats in my 86 Brat are a little beat (specially torn up drivers) and was wondering if there were seats i could use out of a different Model/year Subaru ?
  2. well i picked her up and drove her home..besides the exhaust leak,speedo bouncing (had rough idea how fast i was going..lol) and throttle cable/or linkage sticking a bit (didn't effect driving,just idled high when clutched or in N) she drove awesome.no shakes or pulling.i think bearing need greasing,notice a little bit of a squeak (braking didn't effect it but speed did) didn't realized she didn't come without power steering..i got so used to every vehicle i've driven having it..i'm looking and was like..wth,no power steering pump..lol oh,it must have sat for a bit,i looked in the dash vents and noticed bedding for some varmint..that'll have to get pulled out real soon..
  3. ok cool,thanks for the heads up about ordering parts.i may also need a speedo cable (haven't checked connection at trans yet) mainly cause speedo bounces quite a bit at slow speeds (bounces less at about 40,i think if it's working then) and odometer and trip meter isn't working.. (so basically it has more then the 128K but haven't a clue how much..) (maybe if i test drove it,i would of noticed the speedo,trip and odometer issue..) I drove it home (about 40min drive) and besides throttle cable/linkage sticking a bit (will idle up to about 2k while stopped and clutch in) and manifold gasket leaking (manifold pipe at bend) is banged pretty bad (probably caused excess pressure to blow out gasket) it ran and drove very well considering.. here's some more pics..i Love the T tops..(safety latch on pass side needs to be fixed (pin's not lining up) but i great shape.one back slider has been replaced with plexi..gonna need replacement before winter..
  4. it's a 86 with a little under 128k,4spd with D/R 4wd,light blue with one silver door.rockers need some attention but body is in good shape.interior needs some work too (ripped drivers seat,loose dash pieces (but all there),radio works and i found a nice surprise in glove box..owners manual in really good shape. oh btw,for some reason the clutch pedal is pretty low,i barely have to push it down before it catches/releases clutch and also hits the floor..i really hope it's not cause clutch is just about gone..

Well..i received a bad new text the other day.i think the work the Jeep needed scared him off (needs body work,shift control solenoid,X-member bolted (with new bolts) cause it's just welded on,etc) Looks like i'll most likely be going for the 97 Leg gt wagon a friend has.he still needs to finish work on it though (wheel bearing,body work).sure it has the 2.5 but i know him and a subie mech friend did head gasket a couple yrs ago (new timing belt,seals,etc) sucks about the Brat but maybe it wasn't meant to be..

Thanks for the info about the EGR light.. the only bit i saw was on the pass side rocker towards the front.unfortionatly it was raining and to wet to completely crawl under it but frame rails and floor looked good along with fenders.pass door had been replaced (different color) now i'm waiting to hear back from the guy.gotta figure out how to do the swap.(getting the brat to my house,know about signing reg over to each other) i'll have to do it when town clerk is open,get ride to TC with his reg,X-fer my plates to it then go back and get the Brat..good thing he only lives a few towns over..
  8. i'll have to price a egr valve if i get it (kinda up in the air,waiting to hear back from the guy).probably shouldn't be to bad of a price.. yeah,the amount of salt they use on the roads here is terrible..they plow leaving a thin amount of snow which freezes over then have to dump tons of salt which rots the cars if people don't wash it off during the winter months (or come spring time..)
  9. Nice looking brat.i do like that rear bumper.. i'm working on getting my 1st brat (have owned many GLs,DLS,leggys,loyale and even a GL-10 turbo).though mines a pretty stock 86,no mods yet
  10. well i checked it out and it looks pretty solid,he paid $2,500 a few years back for it and does wanna do trade.only rust i saw (to wet and low for complete inspection of under side) was on the rockers (i've seen worse,like my Jeep..lol). she has only 126k for mileage.the one thing i was kinda hoping for was dual range but just single..no biggie..dang,i meant to snap some better pics.. i love the T tops though..oh and surprisingly,the original Brat decals (along back of cab area) are still there (faded but there..) just trying to find the right day to do swap.. btw-would a bad egr valve cause idling issues ? i happen to notice light on dash was on while it was running..
  11. i live in N.H. sharing pics with you guys/gals will probably be the 1st thing i do..it's been about 2-3yrs since driving/owning a Soob..it will be nice. deep in my gut,it just feels right owning one..
  12. yeah should of mention mechanical parts..body is in excellent shape according to the owner.will be checking it out tomorrow morning (they also wanna check out the jeep..) slightly giddy,always have loved the looks of a brat,but never got chance to get one before..will have to compose myself by 7am tomorrow..lol

  15. ok,that's what i thought.. now i just gotta wait for the guy to get back to me about year,pics,etc.. it'd be sweet finally getting back into a subaru.. Jeeps are to expensive..

I currently have my 97 Jeep Cherokee listed for sale on Craigslist for a day and was planning on buying a friends legacy once it was finished (hopefully timing it so when i sell,the legacy was ready) Well,after reading 5 out of the 6 emails about my Jeep..i read one from someone asking if i'd be willing to trade for a Subaru Impreza..they didn't say what year and no pic but i sent reply asking for year and pic cause that's a trade i'd definatly be interested in doing (depending on condition,though the Jeep isn't in perfect condition) i also had two people ask if i would trade for a sled but need a replacement vehicle instead of recreational one.. Question is.. There isn't anything different that i should look out for with Imprezas that wouldn't be looked out for with legacys ? i would assume it would just depends on the year it is..
  17. if i remember correctly,the hill holder cable attached to same bracket the clutch cable is (just going opposite direction of clutch cable using the hole below the clutch cable,the cable end is somewhat in the blue circle..) ..i haven't had to adjust one so i am not sure how..i just disconnected mine cause holder was binding up causing brakes to heat up..

  20. the 97 Leg gt that i'll be getting has a hydralic clutch..myself,it felt weird...push it in so far then it'd drop..in-gauged quickly though..
