does the same thing in FWD mode. Car is a little more all over the road. Though about just replacing the rear bushing, but they are expensive. Do they come off easily? and can I put it back on if I take it off? will it be obvious that it is bad. Does the other bushing fail often? I do not know where to go from here. ' Thanks Doug

I thought that they would check it, and I asked them to, and I have had good luck with this shop before finding bad items when doing an alignment. I plan on taking the car back on Monday, for a balance and to move that tire to the rear. The clunk repeats and when it does I get the shake in the steering wheel until I slow down. Bumps do not seem to matter it just seems to start at random times, and always above 60. The car drives well and does not bounce much, but I do not know how to check struts and the strut mounts either.

I have a clunk that sounds like the front wheel is going to fall off of the car. It happens at about 65mph. Accelerating, braking, slight turns left or right have no change. Slow to about 60 all is fine. Is this a CV Strut or bushing? how do I test them? I do not want to just change it all. The shop that did the alignment said everything looked ok. this is a 1999 legacy outback. Thanks Doug

now I am very confused and need some help. I went out and checked everything I had done, and even sprayed starting fluid around when it was running to check for a leak. Everything is connected, I started the car, and it ran ok, took it for a drvie and it ran good. pulled back into the yard and the crappy running came back, and again has no power. This lis back to the same thing that started all of this on the way home one night and a quick stop into the store. Only code that gets set is p1507. idle control in fail safe.

not a good day. Should have left it alone. I pulled and cleaned the throttle body, and the IAC valve. Now the car runs like crap. Has a miss, and no power. both of them seemed to be clean. Cleared the codes, and the car does not have a code, What could I have done to cause this? Should I start a different post? Thanks Doug

it idled high when in park both warm and cold. now it seems to idle ok. I will pull and clean the IAC tomorrow and see if that fixes this issue, I will also check grounds? From looking around, sounds like that may contribute to the issue,.I work weekends so tomorrow is the first day I get to work on it.

ok, The idle is at about 1350rpm when in park and about 800 when in Drive. is that normal? or is that leading towards the p/n switch? I need to look at the paperwork I got with the car. I believe they cleaned the IAC and throttle body, as well as an adjustment to the p/n switch. and a few other things. And after their mechanic put the wrong computer in the car, I probably should not trust what he did..

So this car was running great, and I was really happy with it. Stopped into the parts store to pick up some panel clips for the car. Came out started it and got a P1507. Idle control in fail safe. Looking on line a fix seems to be the neutral switch. But I have an automatic so that can not be it. Also the car is running and sounding rough. and even seems to be shifting odd. Is this all related to this code? I am trying to see why it would start after a quick stop like that, and also if the other issues are related to it or not. Thanks

. But your pictures look like what I remember. All of those plugs. in post 6 first photo the big wire bundle on the way back to the firewall is where I found mine. I will try and get a photo tonight. and see if I can figure out how to post it. But on my car it was above those connectors taped into that big bundle. And toward the firewall. It is not any bigger than the green connectors. I tried 3-4 times before I found it and found some better pictures on some other sites. It is small, and mine was taped in the loom.

Those look like the correct wires, the plug should be near by. Like I said above, I found mine between those green connectors and the firewall on that big wire bundle above them. The connector is no larger than those green ones. I read what I guess is bad info on some posts. But that is where I found mine. I also read that sometimes they may be the same connector, in a white color.

tough choice. Been there on a couple of cars, all of them I eventually let them go, because just sitting around and making the payments was not good. I realized that I was keeping them to "keep up with the neighbor" and started looking for cars that were a fit for me. Loved some of the cars that I got rid of (85 shelby charger for one) but just had more reasons to get rid of them than to keep them. IF you love the outback so much, and could get out of the WRX ahead of the game, I would think hard about it. Car payments make for expensive yard art.

I will look at the sending unit. The smoke did not last long and was hard to tell where it was coming from, but appeared to be under the intake. Yes it is the first time the car has been driven much in over 6 months, it is new to me, and the last work the PO had done was over 6 months ago, as per the receipt. And it has sat since then. All fluids are ok, but I did just change the oil, coolant is still full as well as the PS. As this is my first Subaru, what is a separator plate?

So I took the car out yesterday and got an alignment, and took it on a long drive about 1 hr. to a pick n pull, then an hour home. After I got home, I noticed that there was smoke coming from under the hood. I lifted the hood, and it looked like it was coming from under the intake manifold? I did change the plugs and coil, and the drivers side valve cover gasket, and the oil. The car sat for about 6 months before I got it. Anything I should check? or is this just from sitting?

in looking I saw there seems to be 2 different places, one above the OBDII port, and one on the other side. above the gas pedal. That is where mine is. From the drawing I found, it looked like it would be a big connector, like obd, but it is small. Mine was above the gas pedal, there was a lot of connectors, some green that I have seen referenced. above those there was a wire bundle running front to back, and it was in that wire bundle, toward the firewall almost like 1/3 of the way. The connector is not much bigger than a quarter. If I need to maybe I can get a picture and figure out how to post it.
