  1. The ignition system from rotor to plugs is brand new, and I have visible spark. Going to look into timing this weekend. Hopefully sparkyboy can help me out. I'm pretty well versed in ea81 but I am at a loss with these turbos and such. My daily is a Spfi ea81 that I converted, but timing that is far easier than this dual belt system, ive never even pulled the covers, so I have no frame of reference and don't want to make things worse. Gotta hit storage today and dig through my fsm set for my ea82 stuff
  2. Couldn't get it to turn with starter fluid, checking timing and stuff this weekend, the fusible links are good, I'll go through the fuses. The gas is definitely old, so I'm probably going to try draining the gas and putting fresh in, if the pump will drain the tank then I know it works, gonna replace the fuel filter while I have it off, I feel like it should start I just don't know what I'm not seeing. Have cash saved for the mechanic if anyone is feeling froggy locally
  3. It's got spark and it stopped running after po got a new battery for it, so I'm pretty sure the timing is fine. It cranks and sparks just won't turn over. 4 shops locally have said they don't want to bother looking at it and I'm trying to keep my homie from just selling it. It's in Golden by the coors brewery. Neither of us really have time to dig into it without a little more direction 86(?) rx coupe turbo(might be an 87)
  4. Grabbed a j/y control arm and need the wheel bearing swapped before I install it. Also the knuckle came from an 05 automatic, spline count is the same right?
  5. And not going ej, unless my 03 fozzy is totally fucked, then I already have the motor, would need everything else though. I got lots of free parts with the car, don't need a race car, just something tough and dependable. I also already have a 5sp and lsd for it, so I'm gonna stay ea I'm sure
  6. So I currently have 150k on my motor, waiting on a settlement from a car accident, currently a stock ea81 running spfi. I have a delta cam and 020 shaved heads and spfi pistons chilling in my bedroom. Want to get the most out of the coming ea81 head job with the parts I have. Thanks for the responses. Gd told me that changing the duration on the cam while trying to run the fi system would not work as it's pretty much designed for certain specs and not really tune able
  7. Only reason I asked was I had been sort of advised that it wouldn't work by one of the gurus, looking for people who've applied it, or tried to. Seeing if I wasted money getting a delta cam
  8. On an ea81, hydro lifters? Will any part of this combo work? Opinions?
  9. Got it running, found a beautiful write up for doing the alt and how to bypass the voltage box, then just hooked up the coil and fire! Since it has sprung a Leak in the heater core hose, to be fixed around turkey day
  10. So I'm out here doing what Subaru Scott suggested and swapping out for a gen 2 disty, so if I'm deleting the box off the coil where do I connect this disty? Second, I just replaced the alt with one from my 2nd gen, what modifications do i need to make to delete the rest of the voltage regulator?
  11. That still doesn't explain why the voltage regulator us getting so hot, but I'm thinking since the fuel pump is switched on the dash I should be able to ditch the voltage regulator and do the maxima alt swap, swap the disty for an ea81, and then theoretically I shouldn't have any problems out of it right? Ior am I missing something that these components do besides the obvious
  12. By second gen you mean ea81? I have a couple here at the house I'm pretty sure are both good, thank you for the advice
  13. Well at least to tinker with it until a donor pops up can I get pictures of the coil wiring and the factory fusible link setup? I'm just hoping I can get it to run to move it
  14. Totally spaced, it's a 79 4wd ea71 with electronic disty
  15. Also it appear the battery drain is the oil light on the dash even when the key isn't in, I do have 12v to both sides of the coil as currently wired which is better than yesterday...
