I replace the PCV, it may be due again but I don't think so. I've not yet done the plugs; I have a set in the garage (OE NGKs), but I don't have the tools to change them. It's a very difficult job, at least compared to the ones on my RS which are a cakewalk. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4142 Fuel filter I'm going to do this week, if I get a warm enough day.

I posted this over on LegacyGT.com, but they recommended I try here. So, here goes! ----------------------------------------------- Hey all. My wife has an '01 LL Bean H-6, has about 120K miles on it. Great car, we bought it with 68K in '05 from Per Schroeder, the editor of Grassroots Motorsports. Very nice car, no issues really since we've owned it. Several months ago, we were at a stop sign and accelerated to go through the intersection. The car seemed to lose all power, then quickly got it back. No repeat behavior until last night, we were within a couple miles of our house, on the way home from Ontario, a 6.5 hour trip. Same thing, at a stop and accelerated out into the road. This time, it lost power and all the dash lights came on, and it stalled. To me this seems like it must be a dying alternator? My wife says that sometimes it takes a little longer to start than usual, I've noticed that a couple times, but not always. It starts and idles at a seemingly normal 1500rpm. I'm aware that auto parts stores often can do alternator tests for free, so I'll try to do that on a day off. If one is needed, do you guys have a recommendation for a brand? I'd rather not buy from Subaru due to the expected cost, but I could be wrong. Don't need high performance, but I do need reliability. Also, I've not done alternator work before, so other than obviously having to undo the serpentine belt, is it hard? Very weird, and extremely inconsistent. Thought maybe I could get some help. Thanks. EDIT: I've also thought about maybe it being the fuel filter? I have a new OE one but haven't changed it out, yet. =S2=

Cool. We just moved here, in Feb. 2004. I grew up and lived in New Hampshire, until then. Except for one year in Iowa. -Chris -

I live only about 10-15 minutes from Carlisle, so I can recommend a place or two... It's a common restaurant, but Red Robin is a good spot for burgers. The one in Carlisle is right off of the highway (I-81), in a large parking lot with a Target, Old Navy, and department store. Lots and lots of space. http://www.redrobin.com/home/locate.aspx Carlisle Crossings 236 Westminster Drive Carlisle, PA 17013 717-258-1030 Carlisle is a cool little town. Red Robin is outside of downtown, along Rt. 74. -Chris -

If I still lived in Davenport, I'd be there. My wife went to Palmer, 1999-2002 for her doctorate. I lived there too, for the last year. Have fun, guys. -Chris -
Thanks. The Outback's mod list is short: Baja Turbo rear swaybar BF Goodrich Traction T/A-V tires Satisfied Pro OE brake pads Hella Supertones dual horns Momo Subaru A/T shift knob My RS' list is considerably longer, so to make my life easier, click here: http://www.rs25.com/forums/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=538 I'm hoping for a WRX swap by Christmas! Engine only, except for a MadDad Whisper 2.5" axleback, a 2.5" midpipe, and maybe an open-source tune. I'd like to get a subtle exhaust for the Outback. SPT has one for the 2000-2004 Legacy, guess I could think about that, if it fits. -Chris

Hey, all. nkx sent me a couple PMs, over on NASIOC. I'm free Friday 5/18, and my wife doesn't have her office open on Fridays. So!! Technically, unless something comes up, we can bring at least one car. Maybe two, if my wife wants to bring hers. The Outback is an '01 H-6, looks basically stock except for the Supertones, but hey.... it's another car. So we'll see, I'll keep everyone posted. -Chris

[updated 9-4] clunk when accellerating
Siper2 replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My apologies. In my fix suggestion, I didn't realize what car he was driving. I know nothing of GLs, so I'm not sure what the problem may be. Thanks for your Emails, though. Definitely try Brian at Subaruwrxparts.com ... He definitely may be of help! -S2- -

Could be the rear diff, too. Sounds like it... They have a tendency to clunk under hard shifting. Solution is to either shift nicely all the time, or get a differential locking kit from Whiteline. -S2-
