  1. That's what I like to hear!!! Never a job too big! Anyway, adding an intercooler will yield a gain in performance. It may be decent, it may be small. But usually the addition of an intercooler on a non-intercooled engine will yield some kind of powergain. Now alot of the power you gain will be directly influenced by how easily the pressurized air can flow through the intercooler's core(CFM & pressure drop), and how efficiently it cools the air. The efficiency factor should not come into play as this intercooler has a large core. The only thing that I would be worried about is how much of a restriction will be caused by this particular intercooler. Since the turbocharger flows a certain amount of air at a specified PSI, the intercooler core can reduce this amount. While the air will be cooler, there will be less of it reaching the engine. So in effect, the turbocharger has to work harder to get that same amount of air to the cylinders. Turning up the boost can be done via a boost controller, whether you prefer a manual type or electronic. There are more types of manual boost controllers out there than one can count on both hands together. I know you can build a homemade boost controller using parts that you can get at Home Depot. The instructions are all over the internet. Only problem with them is that they have a bad tendency to create big spikes in boost(which can be extremely harmful to the engine) and do not normally hold constant boost pressure very well. Electronic boost controllers are quite a bit nicer, but they usually also come along with a not so nice price tag. They offer a bit more precision control over boost than the manual types. Just PLEASE remember that before you start upping the boost too much, you might want to think about adding an AFR(adjustable fuel pressure regulator), RRFPR(rising rate fuel pressure regulator)(recommended), or an FMU(fuel metering unit)(ex: Vortech, Aeromotive, Blox, etc.) Don't forget about adding a high-flow fuel pump. You can also add a 5th injector(cold start injector from a VW or Saab). There is a post somewhere on the USMB that explains it. This will keep the engine from leaning out at higher boost levels and higher RPMs, which in turn will keep it alive and get you some extra ponies. And when you have more air going in, you have to give it a way to escape(as I'm sure you already know). So adding a larger diameter(2-1/4" to 2-1/2") custom exhaust will increase the thermal efficiency and response of the turbocharger. This decreases spool up time and allows the hot exhaust gasses to escape the exhaust snail of the turbocharger. I hope this helps out. I'm sorry it was so very long-winded. Good luck on the project. Patrick
  2. WOW!!! I'm glad that you didn't get into any "emergency stop" situations. That could've ended up really ugly. Stick a fork in those pads 'cause they are DONE!!!
  3. No, I wasn't referring to Will's mods. I was asking Brian about what he has done to his car.
  4. I just want to take time out to say "Thank You" to everyone who replied via PM to my need for assistance. THANK YOU!!!!
  5. Aaahhhh, SEAFOAM!!! That is some of the best stuff that I have ever used. Since you are putting it in the oil, add it to the oil and let the car idle for about 5 minutes at idle speed(800RPMs). Don't race(rev up) the engine during this time as the oil will be getting thinner and you could score and possibly ruin vital engine bearings, like crank, camshaft, connecting rod, etc. Afterwards, immediatly shut the engine off and drain the oil. Change oil filter, pour in new oil and VOILA!!! Mission Complete!
  6. That is power at the wheels if I'm not mistaken(Will, please correct me if I'm wrong). Our cars make 115hp at the flywheel or crank, whichever one tickles your fancy. The numbers aren't bad considering that the engine is basically stock, aside from the timing, intake and exhaust.
  7. Dude, that is one cool dog!!! I wish that I had pics of my baby Angel. She is lab(gold in color). I miss her alot. I had to give her away before I left Texas to come to Okinawa.
  8. If you have a welder, I would suggest buying a universal high-flow cat, get some piping made and weld that sucker in place.
  9. Man, that DP looks good!!! I can't wait to get my 2.5" DP made. I already have a bellmouth 2.25" DP on the wagon right now, and I'm still running a cat.
  10. Hey, congratulations on the new car. It looks awesome. The puppy is going to be a real bundle of fun though. Remember she has "fulltime 4 wheel drive" too. Husky's are real fun dogs and they are just like Subaru's, you show them love and they will return it ten fold, just sometimes the car will be more stubborn about it than the dog will. Take it easy. Patrick
  11. Caleb, That would be fantastic. Every little bit helps you know:) . I am sure that it will have in it what I need to know. Thanks a bunch!!! You just keep coming through for me. I really, really appreciate it. Patrick
  12. Does anyone have a pinout diagram for an 88 GL-10 w/EA82T? I need to find out which wire does what so that I can hook up my Field Boxer series SFC when I get back. I need to find out where these wires are: 12v +: RPM wire: MAF wire(the one that goes to the ECU): I also need these wires as I have a Greddy Profec A that I need to wire in as well. If anyone can help me out or get me pointed in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You all for your time. Patrick
  13. You might have blown out a strut when you hit whatever it was that was hard on the road. If you bottom a strut out it can damage the seals on the piston that dampens shock when going over bumps. I have had blown struts on previous cars that I have owned and the signs that your car is exhibiting make me believe that you blew out one of the struts.
  14. Sounds like the exhaust guy has been inhaling the fumes when he welds or sniffing too much exhaust or something. I have never heard such nonsense. I say re-thread the holes and put new bolts in with a little bit of thread locker on them, and call it a day.
  15. Have you tried adjusting the clutch cable linkage? I realize that everything is brand new, so I was just thinking that it might not be in the right adjustment. When I did my clutch swap, I had to re-adjust my clutch linkage because I had to disconnect the cable from the clutch fork.
  16. Dang bud, that really sucks!!! I tell you, if some people payed half as much attention to their driving as they do their stereo equipment.......GEEZ!!! I sure hope that he stopped to see what kind of damage he did and not drive off like most idiots do. I wish that I had a second car. If I did I'd loan it to you until your car got fixed. Hopefully, your car doesn't need too much cosmetic surgery. Just glad to know that you are okay.
  17. Okay, the first off, the deal with the fans. You should have a mechanical clutch fan that is attached to the water pump snout and one electric fan. If you have two electric fans, I would assume that one comes on with the A/C. I am trying to remember what the deal was with the clock. Mine did it a while back, but I can't remember for the life of me what I did to fix it, nor do I have the car where I can look at it to tell you(I'm kinda in Okinawa, Japan right now and my car is in Texas.) The key you should be able to get from any Subaru dealership parts dept. They usually have them in stock. As far as the part thing goes, I'd suggest thepartsbin.com, as there have been a few members that have had very good luck with that site.
  18. Turbone, you took the words right outta my mouth!!! LOL I was just getting ready to say that the cv axle wasn't seating all the way. That is the only way that I could see the hub stripping out like that.
  19. Hello! I'm very sorry to hear about your recent car troubles. From what I can gather, everyone thinks that it is the timing belt and since the car is a Loyale, it means EA82(I would assume SPFI). It is a possibility, but instead of checking the driver's side timing belt, you should probably check the passenger side belt. In your description, you said that it tries to turn over, but won't start and then just backfires. That would mean that the distributor is turning, considering it is driven by the driver's side camshaft, which in turn is driven by the driver's side timing belt. If you check, and one belt is broken, you might as well go ahead and replace them both at the same time. It is better to be safe than sorry. Now another possibility could be a belt tensioner went, which allowed the timing belt to jump a couple teeth and you would then wind up in the current predicament as well. Timing would be off, causing the engine not to start. And then, there is also the distributor itself. If it went bad, you most likely get no spark whatsoever. And this is because they have an "optical pick-up" inside the distributor. Also, there is an ignition condensor(I believe that is what it is called) strapped around outside of the ignition coil. If this goes, again, no spark. So there are a few things that you can check. BTW, don't forget to check the ECU. I hope this helps. Patrick
  20. You had to remove your bumper? I didn't. I just turned the wheels toward the drivers side, and then pulled the fender plastic down and out of the way. After that, I just used my trusty angle grinder w/ 4" cut-off wheel and went to work. I used an aftermarket 3" aluminum intake for a 90-93 Honda Accord, after I cut it into 2 pieces. As soon as I get back to Texas, I'll try to take some pictures of my intake setup and post them. It looks good and works even better!
  21. I like Russell's way of thinking,"If it ain't broke, wait 'til it breaks." J/K
  22. I'm with him. If you are going to spend money on a muffler, and you want a "straight through" flow muffler, get a canister muffler(from local speed shop or good ol' EBAYMOTORS) or even a large to medium sized glasspack. Don't use a motorcycle muffler. It might not have the same sound muffling capabilities and it might land you in bad standings with Mr. Johnny Law, and you really don't want that.
  23. I tee'd mine into one of the vacuum lines that comes off of the throttlebody. It works like a charm. I'm sorry that I have no pics right now.
