Advice diagnosing DS rear window lack of operation.

2001 Forester. It is in the closed position. I have the Haynes Manual, and I have not found the troubleshooting procedure. I have typical wiring diagrams in that book, but do not know how to find or access the components. Is there a factory manual that is not expensive for a non-professional mechanic but covers things better than the Haynes?
