my lifted subaru always makes me late...
Roobaflu replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I thought maybe he was late because his car was like mine SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW I do get a lot of people looking at the wombat (lime green 85 hatch with 3 inch lift, still on 13s), but they are usually laughing or saying "that is so stupid", I like the occasional look of utter confusion when people have NO idea what it is -
and what is a duty solenoid???
-
its coming from the light on the ecu itself I was running without the ecu but without the ecu I can't get the idle below 1800 rpm :\
-

-
maybe I'm reading it wrong... one long flash, then 4 short flashes

temp gauge or overheating
Roobaflu replied to Roobaflu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that didnt fix it :\ I thought for sure that would have done it. But I started the car after it had been sitting overnight, and the gauge was reading halfway at startup, that CANT be right, lol -
temp gauge or overheating

I pulled the Tstat out just to check, and it still did the same thing, maybe the radiator was so cool because it was 35 degrees out -
Attn photoshop guys!a small request please

I tried but I can't get the shade of green quite right. sorry :[ -
ok, on my 85 carbed engine, there is a computer module under the steering column, EXACTLY what does this control.... my car started cutting out tonight, sputtering, stumbling, whatever you want to call it, while I was going down the road. If I unplug the puter, it runs fine, with the puter it cuts out. ????????????

tonight on the way home my temp guage went all the way up. 35 degrees outside, cruising along out in the country. I pulled over, shut it down, popped the hood, the radiator itself was cool, the hoses were warm but not really hot, the engine was hot but not really hot, I could put my hand on the valve covers without burning myself. I grabbed a bunch of rags and opened the radiator cap (I know bad idea) and it hissed about like when you open a soda can, that was it. the radiator was full. I started the car back up, the temp guage was halfway, sat for a minute, temp guage didnt move, as soon as I pulled out, the guage went all the way back up. I really dont think I overheated it, but I'm not sure. does it sound more like the guage? or the sender?

its an absolutely gorgeous color, he posted a link for it -
if you use a heat gun to GENTLY heat the edge of the fender it will somewhat soften the paint and decrease the likelyhood of paint damage. Just dont get it too hot or you're going to blister the paint off obviously

did the DL's have ea71s and the GL's have ea81s or was that just on the hatch?
-
it was a bad ground where the sending unit meets the tank, thanks everybody :]
-
I'm going to fix it, but I need to drive the car until I get the cable
-
ok, broke a speedo cable, on an ea81 d/r 5 speed, stock tire size, in 5th gear, high range, what rpm should I be turning at 55 and 65?
-
and what a nice weber it is :] your setup in the brat looks AWESOME Tom
-
I want to tidyup the engine bay for one. And two, I dont think the vacuum lines are routed quite right, it doesnt run the way it did before the engine was pulled. Miles guessed at at some of the vacuum linesI'd love to go with the weber, but I can't afford one
-
back in my rx7 days, there were really decent write ups on removing the copious amounts of vacuum lines on the top fo the engine (the rotary guys called it the rats nest) is there any such write up for doing that to an ea81? not just for elimating vacuum lines on the engine, but also elimating as many as possible on the carb

6 lug wheels on your subaru(the easy way)
Roobaflu replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
around here, you dont' have to go to a machine shop or off road shop to get laughed at, all you have to do is go to the parts store -
I've got 84 Mazda RX7 seats in mine, the work great for me :] and I agree with the comment about craven's console, I like the way that looks, ea81 with an ea82 center console. So I copied, hehe, since I converted my auto to a 5 speed and used a tranny from an ea82 I already had all the interior parts, I even modified the aread between the dash and console so I could put the stereo there you inspired me craven :]
