  1. what does the computer control on the carbed vehicles?
  2. I'll pull the bulb, lol, planning on pulling the guage cluster out to paint the guage surround anyway
  3. one thing I remember about growing up watching rally was the unbleivable sound of those cars. one of the most pleasant sounds I've ever heard, what kind of exhaust would I need to make an ea81 sound like a late 60s early 70s rally car?
  4. I did a search for ecs but got no results.... I have a light on in my instrument cluster that says ECS
  5. well, you can call me a poser if you want, but it will probably never actually see any rally experience. Its mostly looks and feel I'm going for, I'm not going to build something to handle the punishment of actual rally racing. I grew up watching rally on TV and always dreamed of having a rally car, and old pugeot, or lancia, one that I thought was really cools was a mini cooper set up for rally. I've built a bunch of plastic models of rally cars, I guess what I'm looking to do is build a full size "model" of a rally car. So far I found only one pic of a subaru rally hatchback, there have to be more out there
  6. ok, I've lined up most of the 4wd parts for the hatch, but I'm thinking instead of jacking it up and putting big wheels and tires on it, going rally style instead. Any suggestions on what to do to give it a rally look and feel would be greatly appreciated. And the more pics the better :] thanks :]
  7. glad to hear your vote of confidence :] I was SUPPOSED to get it this morning, but now we're shooting for tomorrow morning :[ I could have had it any time this week except for we arent making an even trade, he's giving me cash too. I might be interested in that 5 speed if I can find a pedal box and clutch cable, clutch , flywheel, pressure plate, shifter, and all that nifty stuff. The auto trans is actually my biggest complaint about the car. Jim may want his tranny back too, he told me to hold on to it :] Jim also sent me a link to a wagon on ebay in indy, really cheap and the guy will deliver for a reasonable price, SO, if the guy comes through with my money before that auction and if noone bids on it, then I should only need to find a drive shaft. Funny thing about the exhaust, it fell off. The guy SAYS "a sheet of ice flew off of a semi and I drove over it and it tore the exhaust off" at least he went back and picked the exhaust up, LOL ummm whats a carbola?
  8. I've been thinking of how to secure a dog crate in the back of the hatch, then I started thinking, how bout just make a "grate" between the front and back, and then maybe one all the way in the back so you can open the back without opening the dog's area, and then maybe over the side windows so they can be opened for ventilation. Anybody doen anything like this before? any suggestions or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. It would be cool especially if I convert to 4 wd and lift it, I figured, it will go places that are hard to get to, then, the dog is a bloodhound, working on man trailing and scent tracking, seems logical that the too should go together, his name even has the right letters in it, LOL Carter RUben
  9. I'm going nuts, the guy called me tonight, said the money is IN his bank account, and we are supposed to meet at the bank in the morning, I'll give him my car, he'll give me his 85 gl hatch!!!!!!!! To make things better, its not an even trade, I'm making some cash in the deal, so not only do I get to pay off some bills (great timing) but I'll have about 400 to put into the sube :] Now if only I could get some sleep, hehe
  10. would they fit? I'm trying to get an idea of whether or not the roof is similar in these points, if so I'd like to get a brat roof with t-tops, and graft it into the hatch roof
  11. Fox, i should have said that I had most of the MATERIALS for the lift, no actual parts, lol, don't even have the car yet, the guy is STILL dragging his feet, said he wanted my car really bad, and he'd have the cash by tuesday, well, I talked to him last night and he SAYS he still wants it and is still trying to get the money. Said it SHOULD be today, but its getting kinda late in the day and havent heard from him yet, not a good sign :[
  12. not trying to hijack the post or anything, but I was thinking about lifting my 2wd just for the look for now
  13. unfortunately I have to think about fuel consumption :[ I'm on a REALLY tight budget and it would be my only vehicle
  14. thanks for the suggestions 86. i was asking about that particular car though, since Fox has worked on it, he might know some things that are wrong with it that I should know before I get it, things the current owner may not be telling me
  15. I dont know anyone with a justy. I dont have the hatch today, I'm hoping to get it today, worked out a trade with the guy thats got it, the sube plus some cash for my current car, waiting for him to come up with the cash, he did get it from jons though. white 85, lots of rust, no rocker panels, blue interior. anything I need to know about that car before I get it?
  16. Fort Wanye..... I'm only a half hour from fort wayne
  17. oh my god, that makes this project SO not worth it :[
  18. what kind of gas mileage could I expect from different tire sizes? 85 hatch GL 1.8 carbed auto trans what is the stock gas mileage, and how much should I expect if I ran 235/75/15s?
  19. this is too weird, two 2wd lift posts in such a short time :] know anyone near by that could make a kit for you?
  20. then there is the option of fixing up the 2wd I'm getting and sell it , then try to get one thats already 4wd
  21. darn 2wd drive at, the hatch Im' getting already has one of those
  22. which junk yards??? these things are always good to know :]
  23. I dont have a wife to name the roo when I get it, and since i'm going to be driving an 85 2wd drive hatch, I doubt I'll ever have a wife, LOL
  24. Anybody done this, or seen it done? I know this is probably stupid and a waste of time and money, BUT I have about everything I need to do a lift, except for the steering shaft (still have to figure out something with that) and I've got a shot at picking up some 6x5.5 pattern wheels for trading some parts I've got out in the garage. So it would be really close to a free deal, and I've got PLENTY of time. I like the lifted look but I dont have the money to go to 4wd
