  1. Good question, but frankly, they don't answer all my questions. They really banter back and forth with dates and figures and created confusion from a good idea. I've been REALLY interested in importing an Aussie D/R AWD tranny for a few years. In fact I have gotten MANY of my questions answered directly from Phizinza. But, I've been away from the forum this summer a LOT, then came on today browsing other avenues I rarely visit, like the retrofitting forum. And lo, found all these recent threads on the same idea I have been quite interested in for some time. As such, I was just hoping to get a little consolidation of the most recent info from the involved parties and organizers, for myself as well as for clarification for others interested and involved. That's all
  2. Hello all, I am VERY interested in southern hemisphere D/R tranny for my USA 95 Legacy 2.2. I have many inquiries bouncing around on this board then today found 5 threads (http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103665...........Ian; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103495; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103567; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103720; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103125; http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=103665&page=2) describing a working deal between many USMBers and a new poster from NZ (kiwishooter). Unfortunately, as often occurs in web forums, there has been a LOT of misunderstanding and snarky spray bouncing around. Sorry to read that, but so it goes. As I indicated, I am VERY interested in a D/R full time AWD tranny. These forementioned threads describe D/R trannies from late model legacies, some with center locking capabilities (there seems to be some disagreement on this actuality), but ALL are dual range and would bolt up to our USA EJ vehicles. I (speaking solely, but perhaps for others) would like to see if we can get these multiple threads consolidated to one place with the most up to date info. Sounds like (and please correct me if I'm wrong) USA buyers would be paying around $400 (+/-) for a D/R EJ-fitted AWD shipped from NZ to LA. More if shipped to Seattle. My personal interest is in final drive gearing and in low range reduction gearing. Please correct mt if I'm wrong but I understand these trannies to be: 5 speed manual 3.9 (or are they 3.7) final drive 1.19 low range gear reduction Thank everyone who's interested (like me), and perhaps if this gets consolidated into ONE recent thread, title it something with *cumulative info on D/R EJ trannies shipped to USA, updated as of (insert date)* Thanks again to everyone involved, especially to kiwishooter for the offer to share NZ D/R with te US and Grossgary for footing much of the spray, to the friend in IN for offering/agreeing to be the financial mediator and to the shop in Seattle for agreeing to be a US receiving port. Again, count me as interested in D/R AWD transmission to bolt-on to my EJ22, pending gearing and low range applicability.
  3. Hey JesZek! Good to read from you again! Do you remember my brother in law Erik, from our visit to Honduras? Wel he buys cars here and sends them there to sell there. I wil put him in touch with you because I am sure he can help you out in finding a good car not too expensive. He sent his mother a 2001 legacy sedan auto. (not many autos in honduras, in fact he suby dealer was very excited to see it).
  4. Hey The Yeti, yeah, i've seen this post, in fact i've referenced it to others here as well. Its part of my inspiration, but i'd like feedback from owners. Your thoughts and impressions of the springs when compared to stock, similarly with the GR2s vs. stock. and of course photos are always nice I know there are others out there, but this thread seems not to be reaching them thanks, -mw-
  5. It (so I'm told) disconnects the battery connection as for long term storage, also functions as a safety 9when monuted appropriately) as a safety device, and a theft deterant. I've found that some juice still goes to the battery when this disconnect's key is removed, i.e. when "disconnected" i still get the door chime, but won't turn the motor over. Seems good except when it doest not maintain a ground when the key is in and operating 9as to complete the ground curcuit). so it goes.
  6. Turns out it was a bad ground. I had installed a neg. ground disconnect switch and think rally-ing it may have gotten dirt /dust in there and made for a bad connection. I deleted the switch and car fires right up yay for running car, boo for battery disconnect switch

    ozified??

Is this on a first or second gen Suby, or are you rolling a new gen Suby?
  8. Looks nice, ESPECIALLY in the snow I would love to see more pix AND BUMP for the rest
  9. Twas my first thought also, if it turns it can't be frozen. I suspect starter. Jumping did nothing more than it does on its own, voltmeter and battery charger/tester indicate Battery is good. I suspect starter. Hmm, tell me more about the solinoid. This a an EJ22 in a 95 legacy. I rally-xed last weekend, good FUN runs (perhaps vid and pix to post in the rally section later). Wife left site, drove 3 hours no probs, then check engine light came on so she stopped it and got towed home. I got back checked it, engine oil low, but not dry, coolant low (as in couldn't see fluid when cap removed), so added about 1/4 cup H2O and pushed air out of upper rad. hose, coolant level fine. So, good battery, gas, some oil, turn key, get click and "slow" urnf crank. 1 maybe 2 turns but no more... We have a 93 IMP also, so i'll pull the starter from that to try that first, but i think this weeken may be spent under the hood We'll see though. Off from work ALL next week, but wife's friends from grad school coming to play with us this weekend and all next week too Thanks for chimin in so soon GG!
  10. Hmm, so how does a seized motor behave? Anyone with experience in this please chime in. I've got a good battery and plenty of fuel, low but some oil but when turning the key, I get the started motor click, a struggled "ern" crank but no fire.. I REALLY hope i didn't weld my motor.
  11. It was GOOD times!! my first rally-x and LOVED IT!! They're a good group and want to do more stuff. Check 'em out on http://www.utahrallygroup.com/ They should post pix of this event soon, I imagine. I'm going to look for hosting places down here in Moab, and I'm sure they'd be psyched to get other places around the state too. Know of any? let 'em, know..
  12. Slickrock is a riot! Give a shout if/when you come down. Mt. biking is fun, Fall ealry winter in Moab is NICE!!!
  13. Right. Yeah, i saw that just after i posted the question Dooh, going to miss yet another one! Been wanting to get up there since 7!
  14. Baby lion's back is east out of moab up the sand flats road, past lion's back (LOTS of you tube videos of this one, one on particular with a bronco coming down WITHOUT brakes), and just past Hell's revenge, just before the parking lot for the slickrock mt. bike trail.
  15. Bump. When is WCSS, and where?

    97 leggy lift

Oh, mine's a 95 legacy sedan that's been on OB struts and springs for 5 years. Ditto, no probs and sitting higher than OBs, especially on the 27.5" tires. I'm just thinking of going with king/scorpion's raised springs when I replace the struts with the KYB GR2 outback ones. But I'm told there are other things to do to a non-outback car riding on OB struts so you don't F-up the axle geometry. I'm looking for pix of new gen rigs on king/scorpion springs or their raised springs and with and without additional lift blocks. I've got some pix of my sedan floating around here and there if you're interested. Thanks though.
  17. Taking or giving. Oh, stop that! sorry dood, couldn't resist. Ya left the door WIDE open on that one..
  18. A call to all you rolling on king/scorpion springs in your new gen rigs. Regular or raised springs. I'd like to get your input, comments, cheers and jeers of those springs. Please illucudate if you're on factory struts, KYB GR2s, lift blocks what kind of tires you're rolling, all that good stuff. I'm REALLY interested in a straight comparison of stock springs to king/scorpionsprings and those with raised springs also. Its likely most of you are on GR2s also, but that's probly just down the road for me anyway so probly a wash.. Thanks and pix would be FANTASTIC too!

    97 leggy lift

Revisiting old threads... Did you get your rig lifted on struts and taller tires? If so do you have pix? I'm still sittin gon spring ideas. Leaning toward scorpion springs maybe raised scorpions, but also thinking about a 1" lift block kit too... I think there are som other OB subframe parts to get which hel reallign axles with the OB strut lifting.. Anyhoo, interested in your progress..
  20. just browsing old posts. Did you ever get the scorpions, or raised scorppions? I'm interested in them as well and want to get reports of their riding characteristics... thanks
  21. revisiting old posts today... Do you have updated pix with beefier tires, or are those the final tires on this rig? Can you give some driving impressions of stock springs compared to raised scorpion springs? I'm told they're WAY stiffer, like washboard road driving off road... Interested in scorpion spring ride and raised spring ride.. thanks
  22. Checkit!! http://www.utahrallygroup.com/rallyx-sched.php Utahn's unite!! Anyone else interested in checking it out?!! It looks fun so I'm going to head up with a Flagstaff friend who wants to break his new car
  23. Revisiting old threads today. I may be visiting some SLC JYs in a couple weeks so I'm interested in wha all I might need. So is this all i should look for in beefing up my subframe and suspension to be more outbackified, and lower my axle geomoetry to allow for more raising, with lift blocks or springs? Thanks!
  24. Nice dood!! I should look you up next time i visit the folks in K. Falls. good work
