Update? How's it go?!?!
-
As per Numbchux, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92364&page=2 this is a spring info compilation spreadsheet. It may answer your question, and its a good one!!! A bit of research and one might be able to dig up another manufacturer's spring meeting the proper dimensions. Good call.

That is a very aesthetically pleasing bumper, housing the 500's! Nicely done! And your friend's civic hatch, i love it!! If only I knew the possibilities (looks lifted w/ nice luggy tires) when i had my 91 civic.... I'd be interested in knowing how and what he did to that rig. fun stories in there I'm sure. . .

Maybe a switch on the headlight knob? Did some of those EA82 have the parking light switch on the knob? A pull and turn thing? But it sounds like the Suby parking light switch issue none-the-less

sick bumper dude!

This is SICK-easy!! and cheap!! would this fly on a new gen?? something similarly easy for a new gen, just using blocks of tube steel between the strut top-hat and the body? I'm just thinking 2 inches MAX, maybe? and you could tack them all together (instead of 3 independent lifts, one per strut mounting bolt, you'd have a lighter "block" lift) I've thought about pressing out the studs and replacing them with taller bolts then threading nuts to lift the top of my struts from the body. I know, skethy as heck, but thoughts and being a cheap-skate, not interested in the price of a full block kit for 4 inches of lift. Its the same concept really, just push the body off the top of the struts. I remember someone doing a 1/4" lift by slipping some 1/4" aluminium between the strut and the body, so this is essentially the same thing! Do you need to do any steering linkage adjusting, longer brake lines, any other issues with moving the motor away from the suspension or anything like that? If this could be translated to a new gen, that would rock some other folks' world!! HMMMMMM...

They responded that there is no distributor in The States, that peopl deal directly from them... Yeah, so i was confused about the 6 cyl thing too, since my original msg indicated i was looking for 97-99 OB raised springs. The response was what I posted, indicating 6 cyl... So again, more confusion and needed clarification... but

More on the king/scorpion spring thing... So I wrote king spring (from the contact us link on their website) asking if the raised springs were still availble for 97-99 outbacks.. Below is their response... " Thankyou for your inquiry We have Part No's KSFR-32SP (front - 6cyl) and KSRR-29 (rear) to raise your model vehicle approximately 25-30mm from factory std height. These have an increase in spring rate of approx 25%. Costs are as follows: Front Coils AUD $ 170.00 per pair Rear Coils AUD $ 170.00 per pair FedEx Air (3-7 days) AUD $ 265.00.00 per (set of 4 coils) Total del. you is AUD $ 605.00 (set of coils) Payment can be made via credit card or direct business account deposit. http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html Regards , Kris Tarrant Sales and Technical Services IT Manager KING SPRINGWORKS PTY LTD" I'll see what else I can find out about US distributorship on raised springs... But it looks like they're still available, perhaps just without a US distributor??

+3 on the wicked sedan!! Love the tires. Are you planning to do a 50-75 mm lift too?? Looks nice!! Can we think of your sedan as a sort of generational precursor to my new gen. sedan (after I complete what we're planning)?? -mark-

So going with the raised springs AND lift blocks, don't you need to do steering angle adjustments and engine mount lowering because of all the added height? I thought someone who'd done lift blocks AND king springs on a new gen had some steering linkage and brake line issues... Looks very nice!! I like all the new gen lifted soobs down under. I think the board's starting to see some in the states, but you guys have the market there!! Looking forward to pix with beefier tires!

I'll guess that took a while to clean

So i think i have the only brat in az?
superu replied to devildog78brat's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Hey, is it Ted, with a recent EJ conversion? I lived in Flag for about 6 years, but I don't remmebr seeing any lifted GLs Is your friend or his GL new to Flag? I just left there this spring :-\ -
Thanx! Yeah, bratman said it... John still makes and sells them, one at a time.. He thought he could mass produce them and got behind on orders.. Long story... as bratman said, you can find info here and there, but again, yes he still makes and sells them. I think dealing one at a time is a better deal for John... He is not a factory.

Hmm, thanks for the H-6 info and coil info... Yeah Mudrat kinda got hosed, but he still makes those bumper, alternatively look into the allied armament (alliedarmament.com) bumper, or of corse custom rocks too!! Not too savy on the GTs (though I sure like them and their 2.5 vs. my 2.2) if you originally have 16's, i know the brake calipers can be ground down to accomodate 15's (check with scoobyclimbs).. happy modding and I'm looking forward to pix!! I'm happy to share what I know and again welcome, there is a LOT of knowledge here!!! -m-

While my 1980 BRAT isn't in AZ anymore (I just left Flag in May 08), there's another late gen 1 in Flag with sweet white racing stripes on it.... The guy is a friend of my friend, and he posted it to craigslist the day after I posted mine (for a little less $$ too), but I don't think he got a taker... I saw another gen 1 in Flag with an EJ18 and 2 trannys in the bed a few years ago.. OOO, and I know of this other, white, cherry EA82 Brat with high-top shell... Man I wanted that one SOOO bad, but when I talked to the guy about it, turned out it beloged to his sister-in-law who'd passed away like 6 months earlier.... He wanted to get rid of it, but his wife was still attached... Then I moved away. . . Anyhoo, yeah you found out a good way to eek out the AZ brats by posting here in the forum... You've got the good makings for an AZ brat community thread for the meet and greet!! I miss Flag sometimes..... But Moab's pretty cool too, and we got snow last night!!! Good luck! -
I did I did, I promise! I even used the insert image button up there and everything... (I'm still figuring out this cool image stuff ) Thanks Chux!

Dirtygst, Yeah I'm interested in H-6 coils but I haven't really looked for them yet. I have a few projects/improvements in my head but want to save a little pile of side money for them... I've also heard king is no longer, though their website is still running and you can look at the 2008 catalog.. :-\ Anyhoo, I think H-6 coils will work for my struts, i don't think the front struts changed in from 97-99 to 2000-2002, but i just don't know if they'll add that much more strength than H-4 coils... I'm mostly looking for a stronger spring to push my front end/bumper back up, the modifications and modifications (modified mudrat bumper and BEEFY custom skid plate) have added a bit more weight than stock , but the strength is priceless... I've already T-boned a tracker (it got towed away...) with minimal damage to my rig... But alas, I would prefer a lift spring (like king or scorpion makes/made) to get the front end higher again, like from an inch+ lift... At one point i could clear a cinderblock (on its side) no problem with the stock OB strut swap and taller ATs, but now I might hang up in front now with the beefy skid and extra weight... See theyeti's thread () on lifing an outback with new struts and king/scorpion springs, for a touch more lift than struts alone will provide... Outback_97 also follwed this lift and posted pix in the new gen forum ("hitched up my britches"... or something like that) Good luck, and hooray for another lifted new gen roo!! -mark-

Strat, Stock 98 OB struts and coils. The first pic witht he struts (shows hubcaps too) is with the stock (185x70?x14) tires (a 24" tire).... Then the close up (also with wheel covers) is 205x75x14 (about 28") all terrains (cooper discoverer's, car tire), then the BFGs on a rim is the 27.5x8x14... I am thinking about lift springs though... My front bumper is a touch heavier than stock

:grin:great minds my friend, great minds I just posted some pix in the 97 leggy lift thread. Let me know if you want more pix, I have more of my legacy, but they're not hosted online anywhere (yet). The IMP lift is a bit different from the straight foreward OB-LEG lift. Rear strut top-hats are different in IMPs vs. FORs, so its a bit more effort. Anyhoo, here are a couple more showing hthe BFGs. -mark-
