  1. Rear Sway Bar (RSB) quick disconnect upgrade for the off-road enthusiast! Two 14mm wrenchs and a 15mm wrench (leverage arm on one 14mm), PB, 3/8" by 2" clevis pin and "R"clip Best $2.73 mod for awesome off-road articulation!!! (PS: the other side is already installed)
  2. nice! Sounds like you're training for an iron-butt ride I know there's one that comes through Moab
  3. AAh, thanks! It looked funny but I couldn't figure how... I didn't compare to my legacy, I just swapped and assumed I had the end links on correctly when I took off the other one. I see what you mean though aboiut proper positioning... I'll probably have to pull it from the brackets to get it in there, but still should be a snap. I'll have to do it late with hand tools after the wife's a sleep thanks!
  4. Love the gas pump sticker!! (Patagonia?) When I saw the letters for the parkway I defaulted to reading it as "PBR"
  5. So I have a (lifted) 95 legacy. I've swapped its 15mm RSB for a gen 1 OB's RSB (18mm), thus I had the stock legacy bar laying around. Here's the fun part. I was laying under my wife's 03 OBS and looked at its measly 13mm RSB then thought, "Hmm. . . I wonder" So I grab the old 95 legacy stock RSB and hold it up. . . . remarkably similar I thinks!! So today, having her car in the garage since she took the legacy beast to work today (kid seats were in her car instead of mine today I jack it up pull of the RSB from the 03 OBS and line it up with the 95 legacy RSB. . . Mounting identical, bend for exhaust in the same place, a little longer bend in the legacy one for under the spare tire well, but hell they both have a spare tire well there...why not! With a couple 14mm nuts and bolts off and two 12mm SB mounting bolts off, I pulled it out and put the 15mm Legacy one in there. And LO, it mounted right up, with no contact on the bottom tire well!!! SOOOO, in summary, a gen 2 legacy/gen 1 OB RSB will mount up in a GD-GG (2000-2007) impreza body! Therefore, an easy RSB mod in these imprezas is to go from the factory (mine's an OBS wagon) 13mm RSB to a legacy 15 or even better, a legacy OB 18mm RSB!! retain the end links with the donor RSB and its bushings, but you can even keep your IMP SB mounting brackets. SCORE!!

  7. clip from a lil cruise yesterday and a little flexing (I finally disconnected the FSB)
  8. here's to add to my previous post. This is a front (legacy style) strut and a taller (OB style) front strut side-by-side shorter legacy on left, taller OB on right See how the lower spring perch site down lower/closer to where the strut mounts in the steering knuckle?

    MOAB RALLY!

The rally cross is a 2-day event and anyone (with a street-legal vehicle) is welcome to run one day, either day or both days. Its fun AND an[other] excuse to come to Moab!! :-) So yeah, come on down/over/up for the rally to watch, participate or even just hang in/around Moab for the weekend.
  15. Utah Rally Group is hosting a rally cross in Moab, Utah USA September 7-8, 2013!! All makes, models welcome! Its the first event to be held in/around Moab (with more to come), so its pretty grass-roots and low key but Come one come all! On-site camping will be offered with full services and lodging available in Moab (about 20 minutes south of the event location). Check-in with URG for info and registration. For more information check out Utah Rally Group or visit the FB page at www.facebook.com/groups/utahrallygroup :woohoo: Moab attracts a hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, most visiting Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The natural and beautiful landscape also attracts a high concentration of outdoor recreation opportunities in stunning natural settings; activities included (but not limited to) the following: 4x4 — Multi-day camping trips in Canyonlands National Park on the White Rim Road, and Extreme 4x4 at Sand Flats Recreation Area (home of the famous Slickrock Bike Trail), among seemingly limitless other areas Whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Colorado River. The area's most famous sections of the Colorado are West Water Canyon which is upstream from Moab and Cataract Canyon in Canyonlands National Park which is downstream. Canoe trips on the Green River Mountain biking — Hundreds of miles of trails easily accessible trails Road biking — The annual Skinny Tire Festival is held in Moab, including a century ride Rock climbing — A true international destination for climbers BASE jumping — Legal in many areas near Moab Hiking and backpacking — Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, and thousands of square miles of BLM and national forest lands surround Moab. Slacklining/highlining — World record for long highlines was performed here (a new slackline park has just been installed) Stay tuned, I'm also working on coordinating a Subaru get together with [semi-]organized drives/trails and info on things to do, places to see and go. It may overlap with this RallyX weekend. . .
  16. from where the strut bolts to the steering knuckle (for the front), if it's an OB or forester strut it'll be a few inches from that bracket to the bottom of the "champaign glass" cup (lower spring perch). if it's legacy it'll only be like an 1-1.5" between there. see pic, mounting bracket at bottom, and spring perch (in profile it kind of has that inverted funnel shape) BTW, where are you measuring to (rear differential, bottom of the body, front bumper, etc.) from the ground? and are you on flat/level ground? 8" from this measurement seems reasonable for a legacy. When they measure "minimum ground clearance" I think it's from a catalytic converter or maybe a CV joint going into a hub. . .
  17. if it wasn't so GD far away!! keep on keepin' on!!
  18. whoa dude! Rolled the foz, and sold the OB? Glad you're okay G! Got the foz back cheap, big plans and a good spirit! all good things friend! BTW, why'd you sell the oB? I agree with the chop it into a brat concept!! Phizeza's is the best photoshop I've seen of the concept )aaand it's lifted .. ciao
  19. what aresyour measurements from rear cat to ground, rear diff to ground, front and rear top of fender wheel arch to grounda and hub to top of fender (top of wheel arch) front and rear with that setup?Thx
  20. R200? what's that? Aren't sccobs either R160 or R180? And I hear ARB is workingon a 180 locker... Please educate me on the 200 bit? Also a little lost on the locking hubs mod. . . . what would that do for you? I've had my (front) spindles and bearings apart but haven't seen the front torn out of a real 4x4 to get the locking hub deal. . . always great to read your inspirations K! and as always, great fab and build work! Ciao
  21. that's hella droop in pic 3!! 2" strut blocks on OB struts right? So that's disconnected FSB huh? hmmmm, nice!
