I ordered mine from a local bookstore but that was over 6 years ago. Appearantly they were out of print, then they got re-printed. If you can get a hold of the isbn # you should be able to get your local library to order it for you through inter library loan. You may have to be persistant as sometimes they don't like to do this. You may have better luck at a college library. -Jack

WOW! So many questions..... Quattro San is awesome! What is that joystick? (tried to posts pic here, didn't work? Mods?) Also as for quattro san, what's the story on that trunk spoiler? And the sunroof, is that a ragtop? Where those two items available from the dealer or an aftermarket source; does anyone else have them? And finally, what's the story on the brat with the huge hood scoop; do tell!!

Questions to the Brat from 1983
Jack in Norfolk replied to edefauler's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hallo, meine Deutsche est nicht so gut. So I'll stick with English. You have a very nice looking brat! The wheels are especially interesting. I don't think I have ever seen any like that before. Can you post some more pictures? Thanks. -Jack -
The Wagon is back!
Jack in Norfolk replied to GoldDiggerRoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
:lol: When I first bought my 86 gl wagon I knew it had a coolant problem but I just couldn't wait to drive it around the block. I got in it and went up to the store. On the way home I was driving past a jogger when a radiator hose burst. It sounded just like a gunshot. The guy must have jumped 50 feet in the air. He did not have a lot of nice things to say to me. I guess it didn't help that I was laughing hystericaly (I couldn't help it ). -

very cool I'll have to pic one of those up. I snapped the heads off of two bolts on an outboard motor I have -
I don't know much about foresters. But, yeah, if you change all 4 there shouldn't be an issue with the diff/tranny. You may get rubbing and uneven tire wear if your rims aren't wide enough. Also your speedo might be off. Don't take my word for it though.

You are on the road to recovery. By the way, where in VA are you? -

This sounds like a nightmare. Although I am embarrased that VA spends the least of any state on environmental funding, at least we don't have to deal with that garbage. -

Subies in the media
Jack in Norfolk replied to mattalexx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah but that was one of the sequels, or else the sube was in a sequel. I remember it distinclty. It had an onboard video game and it was capable of driving under water and then a big rocket came out of the hatch. The real car that was used is reffered to on this site as Quattro San. Appearantly there was a development deal between Subaur and a University in Washington. Do a search. -
No, seriously, has anyone ever thought about aftermarket jumpseats for the Baja?
-
Matty B & Mudboat: wow! I had no idea people were doing that kind of stuff with sube motors. I guess I had heard of vw powered airboats so its not a stretch to work in an ea81 or 82. The plans I saw were for a small coastal crusing trawler; the total opposite end of the spectrum from these speed demons that you guys are posting. What kinds of speeds are you guys seeing? Matt b: do you have any pics?

Don't sell it. Its a fairly difflcult car to come across if you set out looking. Things seem hectic right now but it will pan out. I came sooooo close to driving up there to by that car from Moosens...... -
Old lifted brat pics
Jack in Norfolk replied to jmr052's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Very cool indeed! I don't know that I have seen an early model Brat like that lifted before. It is neat that they had lifts back then. Cool rims too. -

Very impressive; the handy work with the drill, or the photoshop job. Either way, I am impressed! -

The End of an era for the NY/NE area
Jack in Norfolk replied to moosens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So sorry for the loss of your friend. Its already been said, but it is quite true. Although he went at an early age, he did go out doing what he loved. We should all be so lucky. And as for the "end" of the Subaru Church, I'm gonna paraphrase something I heard once; "a church is not the sturcutre which houses its people, it is its people and the spirit that brings them together." Take care brutha. Try not to get bogged down in the present; the future is going to be better.
