I realize I am a bit late learning about Quattro San. I remember the Cannonball Run Sube that Jackie Chan drove. I also remember some talk of it on this board. I had no idea that Sube gave the car to a school in Washington to work on. I read the whole thread and I am fascinated. Regretably I can't find any pics from the links supplied. Could somone point me in the right direction? Also, why is the car named Quattro San? Carfreak- did you ever scan any of the articles? Thanks fo filling me in on this awesome, historical Sube! -Jack

Convertible update?
Jack in Norfolk replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, I am definately not sold on the stock appearance of the convertible subes, but I can't stop thinking about the potential for improvements! I do think that a nice set of alloys makes them look nicer. There is a picture of a black one floating around that has nice rims. It looks great. I think a roll bar would look cool. -
Any other Subaru folks in the area? Anyone thinking of going to Carlisle?

is there such a thing in other markets?

I saw an article in Wooden Boat magazine with plans for an inboard EA81 powered motor boat. I was wondering if anyone has ever built one.

Me too! I wonder if one would fit in the back of a brat? I also wonder what the going rate for a Fuji Rabbit scooter is..... -
was there ever an EA81T sedan?

I understood everything else but this. What is Quattro San? -
the lift is nice, but when will we see aftermarket jump seats??!!

could the air suspension from an EA 82 car or legacy be retrofitted onto an EA81 car?

Was this option available on the gen 2 cars? I have never heard any thing good about this option, but it seems cool to me. I know that you can raise and lower the old cars by tightening the struts and torsion bars, but I didn't know if the push button ride height was available back then. Is it still ungodly expensive to fix when it fails? Would it be possible to add it to a car that did not come equipped? Thanks

What about a hatch? Just curious. Also, not all of the EA81Ts were 4wd right? What did the turbo charger say on the cover? Thanks. -Jack

I'm still looking for pics. I will find them in a minute. A drop top WRX would be great! I did actually see a prototype of an Imprezza convertible on tv at a car show once. -
Sorry if I am a little behind here, but do diesel subarus exist? Are they at all similar to the models we see here? Do they use a similar block? The only diesel sube or anything like it I had heard discussed on this board was a Fuji forklift. Please fill me in. Thanks, -Jack

I will definately let him know that he is welcome to crash or call me for emergency stuff. I'm a couple hours from 95 (as I guess you remember) but will be glad to help out any way I can. Do you remember what year the Darien car was? Did someone on the board buy it? Is Andrew's the only one with round headlights that we know of? By the way (and off of the topic) what did you end up doing with that brush guard that you got from me? -

The one that sold on ebay out of Darien, that happened since Andrew got his? The car from Darien, do you remember any specifics? Color, trim line, options, etc? Has anyone ever seen another 4WD or turbo besides the Salt lake city convertible that just sold on ebay? -
I have made similar observations. I try not to sterotype, and there are definately some really cool guys who have done some unbelieveable things with the soccer mom mobile that is the Grand Cherokee. But most of those guys don't know what to make of me. My truck is old, on its 3rd motor (they said you can't kill a 4.0, I say you can't kill an EA82!), and bone stock. I guess I don't have a gripe with the gear the guys are running as much as with the attitudes. I mean if I wanted to get into a political debate with a completely uninformed ignoramous, I would go down to the local frathouse. I wanted to talk diff swaps and exhaust systems. Instead I end up hearing a bunch of jerks mouth off about how (in thier opinion) date rape laws are unfair and reading a lot of racial slurs. Not my cup of tea. Sorry to stray from the topic; SUBARUS!!!! But I just thought I should make mention of how cool I think the people that drive them and frequent this board are. Glad to see that things haven't changed.

I have been on and off of this board from time to time since 1997. Regretably I am presently without a sube. I have a Jeep. I get on the Jeep board from time to time to try to figure out how to fix stuff or find out what parts interchange. I could not help but notice a serious level of hostility on that board among many of the members. Some of those guys really have something to prove. Comparitively speaking, the Sube guys are a lot more laid back. Maybe there is something to the tiny man, huge truck theory.
