I heard the other day from a fellow from Georgia that by law, the jumpseats in Brats had to be removed. I had never heard this before and was wondering if anyone else had heard this. Also, is anyone familiar enough with VA emissions law to know what would be legal as far as true dual exchaust? If there were seperate pipes, one from each manifold, wouldn't each pipe require its own catalytic converter? Would an 'H' pipe be nesescary? What exactly is an H pipe anyways? -Jack

that would also be sweet. As for project wannabe discovery, i was thinking about putting gps with a monitor on the dash and have dvd screens in the back of the headrests. i dont know if you could put little jump seats in the back like a land rover has, but those colt vista wagons had 3rd row seating and they arent that much bigger than a sube. These are the things i think of when I am supposed to be working.

Australia Breed Of Subaru =)

I guess i just wouldnt lower any 4wd truck on principal. it obviously inhibits the off road potential. I could see lowering a 2wd sube or a car for handling purposes, but that's just me. Besides, they look so cool lifted! -

:temper: or something. -
I've seen something similar done to a grand cherokee (my present ride). it looked really bad though. I think it was done by a conversion van company. They added an extra high top part to the roof and the windows and extra sunroof. I think there is one an ebay. They called it an excursion or something. Anyways.....

no offense to the justy guys on the board (are there any?) :cornfuzz:
-
yeah, you might, because if you could actually get a justy up to a decent top speed, once you hit something, you would indeed be dead.

a long time ago I had an 86 gl 4wd wagon. I saw a car just like mine, only it was the touring wagon and thus had the high top roof. I though it would be awesome to get one of these and take a sawzall and cut out some little windows in the roof over the back, just like the ones on a Land Rover Discovery. Then you could also install dual sunroofs. What do you think? -Jack

you know you want it, just get it. think of it this way, if you dont, it will probably go to someone who doesnt appreciate it and it will be dead or crushed in a year. now that I have booked you a guilt trip, go get that sube. -

very interesting. I wonder if there are any old subie nuts in Japan... -
it would be sweet to get one of those cages they put on the bajas and the nissan 4 door pickups. You lower your tailgate and put these things on the end and get an extra foot or so out of the bed. I thought that someone would have made one of these for a brat by now.

Brat vs. Baja

Can you blame them for not offering a dual range tranny in thier all wheel drive vehicles marketed to America? I would love to have one too, and the lack of them is one of the reasons that have lost interest in subarus since the outback. But look at it from a marketing prospective; Most americans who buy off road capable vehicles have no reason to own them. I can walk outside right now and count hundreds of soccer moms driving around in huge suburbans and excursions with one hand on the wheel and the other holding the cell phone to the side of thier head. This is your typical suv, awd, whatever you want to call them buyer. I know that subes sell well in the rockies and the northeast and places where it snows and you may actually need the extra capability. That is why full time 4wd/ awd is so popular. Its a no brainer! Which is fortunate for the dumb@ss who just shelled out his anual income for an escalade because , he/she has no brain! And even if you have one of those super cool headsets for your cell phones, like the ones the people at McDonald's wear, you are still going to have to take your hand off of the $8.00 latte from Starbucks if you were to shift into 4 lo. It would be awesome to be able to buy a trail ready subaru in 2003. But regretably car manufacturers are moving further and further away from niche cars. The Jeep Rubicon is a good exception, but again, subaru already has one status car, the WRX, and that is a lot for a company that has just overcome its quirky, reliable, oddball image in the eyes of the mainstream. And now that GM has an interest, you can bet that they wont be letting any Jap trap steal thier thunder in the truck market on these shores. Its unfortunate, and I think that making a subaru with more off road capability than gold trim would be cool, but I cant blame them for selling what they sell. Don't blame SOA, blame your suburb dwelling, status symbol addicted, yuppie fellow country men. Who knows, if this Bush recession continues people may need more economical status symbols and the Baja may one day see its full potential. *Disclaimer- sorry if I offended anyone who has a 4wd with no good reason to own it, soccer moms who drive big huge trucks while talking on the phone too much at the wheel, anyone who spends more on a car than they made last year, people with those cell phone headsets, people that like paying $8.00 for coffee, people who like gold trim on thier "off road" vehicles, suburb dwellers, yuppies, or anyone else. these are just my sick, twisted opinions. -Jack:madder:
