that is so cool. have fun with it. -Jack -
It figures that I just let my subscription run out. I dont suppose you could scan it and put it up? I read in one of thier issues (maybe 2 or three years ago) that they reviewed a 4WD wagon (maybe a 1979). It was a look back at what they had done over the past 25 yrs. I treid emailing the editor to get it, but no response. -Jack

right on. I'll look for the new pics. The "convertible section" i was refering to is under subarus of the 80s on the Ultimate subaru website. It is one picture of a chopped xt. Anyone konw if Richie's is the hatch or coupe derivative? -Jack -

that's cool. What about adding cruise, a 5 speed, AC, and swapping in a turbo? -

thanks for the pics and info. That blue one looks kind of high in the back, was it 4wd? Turboone: not to be a pain, but wouldnt your convertible pics be better placed in the "convertibles" section? I know i have been looking for a while. I'm still not sure how I missed yours though. Does anybody know if richie wants to sell? Where is he located again? -jack -
Roughton subaru-pontiac in Norfolk, VA is hanging it up. There may be potential to get some cool stuff from the parts dept. maybe a brushguard is stuffed at the back of a warehouse, or a cool set of rims is hiding under a pile of junk. you never know. They have 2 360s and a Brat in thier showroom, all of which are "restored". I guess restored is a relative term. The cars look nice, dont get me worn, but you can tell that they were put together to do just that, look nice. I heard they want $7500 for the brat. I could see asking $5000 because it is a nice looking red brat and it is a new car dealership so they would ask too much, but $7500 is ridiculous. Something about fresh paint and worn out subaru badges rubs me wrong, shoddy attention to details. But this could work out well for some of you guys. If I can be of assistance, let me know. -jack ps- I have dibs on the brat in the lot around back:brow:

I have a little 16' sailboat. It doesnt weigh much more than 600 lbs or so. I hardly notice it's there when i tow it with my 4.0 grand cherokee. I am wondering what it would be like towing it behind a brat or other subaru. I have no doubt that it will get down the road alright, but i am wondering about times when the boat has a lot of water in it and it has to come up a steep ramp. How does this work out with the unibody etc.. Also, I thought I had heard somewhere that some subaru trailer hitches basicaly bolt into sheet metal rather than into a frame. This may have just been on my 86 wagon. Let me know. -Jack:cornfuzz:

Hey, here's somthing I dont remember seeing a lot of talk about on the board when I was last active. Subaru convertibles. I do remember seeing two on ebay and there being some chatter about both of them on the list. Does anybody know where there is one right now? Does anyone have pictures of any other than the chopped Xt6 in the pictures section? I remember there being one that looked like it had started life as an early 80's hatchback. The other looked like it had been an early 80's 2 door coupe. I thought the coupe derivative looked a little better. That particular car was in connecticut if i am not mistaken. I remember that the top had been redone poorly, and the car was very cheap. It was 2 wd. Why I did not buy it I don't know. It would be cool to get a hold of one of these and hook it up with a turbo, some nice wheels and such. It would certainly be unique. -Jack

I'm back (and I need a Subaru)

not to beat a dead horse, but lets see some pictures guys. -Jack -
I have found 2 potential brats for sale here. One is in really nice shape, but i think the owner thinks it is nicer than it is. The other needs attention, but most of the important stuff is there. I was wondering about a few things: How haard is it to put a turbo engine in a naturally aspirated 86? Also, doesnt the 5 speed mount right up? Can you add an AC? What about Cruise control? Which years had the cyclpos middle headlight? Which year had just two round headlights? Thanks. -jack

Hey guys, The site has changed a bit; it looks great. I think I have finally learned my lesson about Jeeps (Just Empty Every Pocket). I was getting ready to sell mine and now the tranny is going. Oh well. I have been in Seattle and Alaska over the past 2 years working on NOAA ships. There are som many great subarus in both places! I have taken leave from work to finish school and I need cheap reliable transportation. And of course it has to be FUN cheap transportation. I am kicking myself for letting so many nice subarus slip by. I particularly wish I had bought that convertible in connecticut a year or two ago. Anyway, my present situation is this: My girlfriend's dad wants to sell thier 87 dl 2wd auto 4 door. Not really my cup of tea except that i know he has spent serious cash keeping it running. He always takes it to a subaru dealer. He has painted it and done a bunch of stuff to it. It has over 180k on the clock and it is showing rust. I was going to offer him $500 and not have to worry about a car for a while. Appearantly he wants $1000. This is what my girlfriend said. Because of my situation, i am not going to be the one to tell him he is dreaming. I has thinking he would put it up for sale and find out what the market is, and then offer him $500. But now that the Jeep is dead again, i need a car pronto. I would really like a Brat. I have some money saved, but I dont want to spend a lot. I am not opposed to something else. I was actaully getting kind of stoked on the DL that my girlfriend had. I was going to get some cool subie alloys, and tint the windows and get some roof racks and a nice stereo and just enjoy getting 30+ mpg again. I have perused the marketplace forum. If you guys have any leads or comments, let me know. I would like to get back into the subie club for less than $1500. -Jack (in Norfolk) these things rule:headbang:
