  1. Its been a while, but I seem to remeber a guy on this board named SteelyDel who made some EA82 brushguards. Also, Scorpion in Austrailia used to have them on thier website http://scorpionsubaru.com/retail.htm I don't know if you can find SteelyDel, and I seriously doubt that ordering one from Down Under would be cost effective, but at least you know that they exist.
  2. I've gotta say that I liked the Simpsons cameo better. But good looking out as far asposting this one.
  3. Nice car. Where do you find the time machine to go back and get one like this?!
  4. Very nice subaru! Congratulations. These are getting harder and harder to find in that condition on the east coast. In regards to the Coil, didn't somone on this board say that Napa makes one that is the same as the old Accel when it was made in the USA and it is still good; or something like that? Somebody set me straight if I am getting this wrong. Thanks. -Jack
  5. I also agree with the power issue. Sure its fun to say I have an huge amout of HP coming out of my rig (esp a sube), but its not the point. I do most of my offroad driving on the beach and in the mud as there arent any hills or rocks around here, so I guess mine is a slightly different perspective. Even so, I pass a lot of stuck full size Chevy's and Fords with monster tires and monster engines in my stock 4.0 Jeep. Those guys that got stuck probably couldn't keep thier feet out of the carb....
  6. Awww man, I just couldn't bear to look any more. The thought of all of those great solid cars getting sent to the crusher is just too much. You gotta wonder if any of those old wagons are the split rear gate type like Andrew has. Also, there appeared to be an ea81 wagon in that rare blue that Sean had. What a shame..... Not to mention all of the other cool old cars that aren't subies....
  7. Dude! Did you see the Brown Gen 1 wagon with the graphics on the side in the background? Also, what was the orange car back there? Looks like a wagon.....
  8. I don't kill spiders. I would make an exception in the case of a black widdow or brown recluse. Spiders kill gnats and mosquitos, making them ok in my book!
  9. With so many cars available that are genuine junk and have been since they rolled off the showroom floor, it seems to me that running a sube in a demo-derby is not that far off from putting a big sign on your head that reads "I'm a moron". If you can't do anything more with the car, leave it for someone who can. Its not like the junkyards are teeming with old subes (at least not around here). It would really disturb me to see a subaru run in one of these events. The fact that this board has thrived for so many years is proof that subes are not just another economical import. They are wonderful, well engineered, unique cars that are being recognized for these qualities more and more. Some day when people look back at those subes in demolition derby, it will be like if we looked back now at oval window VW beetles being chopped up and abused for some dumb tv stunt.
  10. I'm down. I have spent a fair amount of time on the OBX and never need much coercing to head "down south". You guys may have to tolerate a Jeep amongst all the Subes however. At present I do not own anything Fuji.
  11. When I read the title of this thread, I thought that you were just listing synonyms.. Just kidding.
  12. No offense bro, but prepare for a lesson in humility. I had an 86 gl 4wd wagon. I have never done autocross, and i don't know what your compettition is going to look like, but my girlfriend used to think it was so funny to roll up next to me in her 87 golf (8v, AT) at stoplights and just obliterate me off the line. It was never even close. That was when we were in college. Its always fun to get a car on a track and see what it will do though. Have a good time and don't beat her too hard. She's not a race car and she's getting pretty long in the tooth.
  13. does it have the Diff-Lock? Very rare, very cool item. Also, is it, by any chance a Touring wagon? The touring wagon has the bump in the roof and has more overhead space than the standard wagon. Both very rare features. Regardless, it sounds like you have found a nice car. I had an 86 gl 4wd wagon. It was not a turbo. It had the dual range. In hindsite, if I had not been so hard on it off road, it would have lasted longer and stayed in better shape. Its your car, do what you want, but consider being gentle and just enjoying the heck out of snow days, gravel and dirt roads, and maybe some moderate beach driving.
  14. I have thought for a while now that it would be super cool to turn a subie wagon into a woody. It has been so long since I have seen one. But I was thinking of an ea81 or 82 car. I guess the case could be made that since yours is rare it should be left original. I think the woody paln looks cool though!
  15. Yup, that's what I used to do on my Sube. Also, I would advise you, if at all possible, to make friends with a mechanic. I never get stuck for BS like this anymore.
  16. Just wondering if anyone here knew if Richie had made any progress on bringing the convertible back to life. Does anyone else here have one that they are fixing up? I'd still love to find one for sale. In the mean time, I am always on the lookout for new pictures etc...
  17. Lost Water was in Christiansburg, but I remember he had a blow out sale and then I forgot what he was doing... But he is in the neighborhood of Fincastle if nothing else.. Sorry if this is a day late and dollar short.
  18. that thing is awesome!!! I wonder how much he was hoping to get.
  19. how about hose pics? what color is it? how many miles? would it run and be drivable with the wheel bearing? does it burn oil? any other probs? any particularly cool features? Alloys? sunroof? stereo? I used to have one. It was a great car.
