  1. Just wondering what these might be worth assuming all 4 center caps are there. I am also assuming that they are in fair shape. It was dark, but the rest of the car was kind of rough.
  2. oops. I've been out of Seattle for over 3 yrs now and I guess I no longer wait for people to qualify it by saying "Vancouver,BC" even so, I would venture to say that NC and WA state laws are probably pretty different. I guess I wouldn't really know. I managed to stay out of trouble in Seattle. In the Outer Banks (NC) it was a different story
  3. Do remember which engine it had? I know that Suzuki marketed a sporty version of the swift. I think it was called the GT or the GTI (not to be confused with a VW). I remember being told be several car guys that it was quick. I also remember seeing a concept in Sport Compact or Motor Trend of the "Suzuki Speedster" or something like that. It was white and had no roof but two rollbars and body molding shaped like headrests (like the old AC Cobras). I guess I'm just wondering if any of this technology can be used on a Justy. Then you would presumably have all of the good go fast stuff and have power to all four wheels.
  4. I'd really like to see the old sport comact article on the RX.
  5. Has anybody done any cool updates to the headlights on these cars? I wasn't sure if anyone had tried to do any projector beam type stuff or any of those ropund ones that look like the ones on a BMW etc.... I had seen this done to an old (93) grand cherokee on the jeep board. Just curious. -Jack
  6. glad to hear things are shaping up. I know it had you ticked off for a while.
  7. When time and money are pletiful I'll be right behind you (or in front of you as the case may be)
  8. Hmmm.... down in Nags Head, NC the local PD had an undercover Mustang GT with some go fast goodies on it. The license plate was "gotcha" or something like that. The undercover cop driving it would drag people off of the stoplights and then stop them and write them a ticket for racing. Someone went to court and fought it saying that it was entrapment. The judge agreed. Now no more undercover drag race busts. At least that is the way I heard the story. I know that many laws are different in Canada, but it might be something to look into.
  9. Awesome pics! The guy in the TR3 is my hero. Running around in a convertible in an ice race There were a couple of old saabs and the volvo 1800 wagon was sweet!!! Paul, you need to go out there and show the other vintage compettitors why european cars don't win rallies anymore I realize that that last line is largely debateable, and I defer to anyone who wants to have at it. I don't want to bicker, but a littlle friendly compettition from an asian car seems like it would be great!
  10. When I was at JMU the campus police had an undercover outback wagon. The blue lights were in the back windows and on the dash. That was 7 yrs ago. I was wondering if they have gotten any more common.
  11. Is there a preferred engine to swap in amongst the syncro community? I saw a killer syncro westy the other night. It was lifted w/ bfgs. The engine was hanging out below the compartment and had a fabbed guard bar (not a plate, but more like a brushguard made to bolt under the engine) protecting it. I was just wondering if this was a Suby or maybe porsche or audi. It looked like the owner had put a lot of $$$ into his ride.
  12. small and light is good, but I thought that the ability to wind the engine up to 12000 rpms would really make it compettitive. I was just wondering if anyone here could verify if it ran the same engine as the car my mechaninc was talking about. Another thing I just thought of is, I wonder of the hotrod Suzuki swift (dohc 2.2) would mount up in a Justy??
  13. Thanks. That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. BTW, I meant "motion" when I said "directional" wheels.
  14. Does anyone on this board know anything about this place? I havent been in there in yrs. I drove by tonight and noticed a couple of ea82 cars and one ea81. Most were in junked condition. I was just wondering if anyone knew if they would sell parts off of the cars or whatever. There was a complete looking gl10 sedan on the side. I wasn't sure if it belonged to someone who worked there.
  15. I just saw an xt (might have been an xt6, didnt look close enough. It looked like it was junked an I was thinking I could get the directional alloys off of it. They looked like the same ones I have seen on normal ea82 cars. Are they the same lug pattern?
  16. I had a mechanic in Harrisonburg who raced an old 325i in the scca events at Summit Point in WVA. I remember for a while he and his partner (who had an mg with a ford tempo v6 in it, i think it had a blower) we ticked off at this guy who kept winning in a Suzuki Swift. He said that although the Swift was a tiny engine (I think it was the 3 cyl and not the hot rod swift gt) the driver was winding it out to like 13k rpms like a motorcycle. My mechanic said someone was talking about calling for a breakdown of the engine. Anyhow, if any of that is true and my facts are not all convaluted, I was wondering if a 4wd Justy (which I thought shared the Suzuki engine) might make a good race vehicle. So, if I am wrong about the 3 cylander's capabilities or the engine in the Justy or anything else, please pardon my ignorance. I have scanned thru the recent Justy posts but admittedly not paid that much attention. -Jack
  17. Great pics! Lokks like fun. BTW, your wagon looks sweet!
  18. If anyone is interested in buying one of these rare cars, Colin Edge has one in the classifieds. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54255
  19. I always see a lot more subaurus in general there than I do anywhere around here. There are a bunch of EA cars on the road. Many of them are in good shape despite the tough winters they get there. So I thought he should be able to find something that will fit the bill. His driveway is quickly becoming a formidable mud run. With this mild winter they have had a lot of mud. Its a testement to Hondas that he can get up it at all. A 4wd sube would do it effortlessly. And if he got a wagon he could load it up with firewood too rather than stuffing the trunk and backseat of his honda. He said he didn't want a truck because of gas mileage so the subie is a natural fit.
  20. I'm just wondering what the used Subie market is like at present in Boone, NC. My brother needs a replacement for his accord. Preferably 4wd. I am pushing him towards a subaru. Just wondering if any of you Western NC folks know any particularly nice old gen Subes available. Thanks. -Jack
  21. Hmmm.... I'll have to keep my eye out for the fog lights w/ covers in junk yards. It seems like I saw them a few places when I got mine.
