6 Lug Steel
Loyale w Cheese replied to Loyale w Cheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've found these close to home...and the price is right. They look like they have a pretty high offset but it's hard to tell from a photo. Ad says they come off of a mid 90's GMC...thoughts? https://kalispell.craigslist.org/wto/6092066218.html Cheers -
6 Lug Steel

Right on guys! Thanks for the input. I'll have a look around the local yards to see if I can locate a set of Isuzu or Mitsu rims. Torry 33...glad to know your close! I actually just had the head gasket blow on my Loyale..Bummer. I'm having her fixed...I would have loved to tackle the EJ conversion however I just don't have the time or space to take my time. Let me know if your out this way! -
I've recently completed a 6 lug conversion and am running toyota 15x8 aluminium rims with what seems to be 4.50" backspacing. They stick out a bit so I'm wondering if there are older steely's that would get me closer to stock wheel location.

Engine Niose
Loyale w Cheese replied to Loyale w Cheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It could be the outside temp. It's been a bit warmer over the past couple weeks...which is when I started noticing it. I can deal with the noise especially since I'm seeing much better mpg when it's not below zero -

Thanks Dave...I don't think it's exhaust but it could certainly be U-Joint or Center Bearing. Is there a way to check before replacing? -
91 Loyale w 2" lift - 205/75/15 - 6 lug conversion I've noticed my engine seems to be very loud when running 60-70mph. There are no real vibrations and everything seems to be working fine...it just seems really loud - louder than I remember it being previously. Thoughts?

Loyale Rake
Loyale w Cheese replied to Loyale w Cheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Happy New Year guys! I was able to do the 6 lug redrill as well as install the 2" lift from Anderson Design. I'm revisiting this thread due to the fact that my rear tires are very very close to the front of the rear fender. Is there a way to adjust? It will rub every once in a while when cornering. 2" lift - 205/75r15's I'll post photos ASAP -
6 Lug Redrill - Hub Removal
Loyale w Cheese replied to Loyale w Cheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Excellent guys...Thank you! Planning on starting the project in a week or so. I'll try and document for other inquiring minds for the future. -
I'm planning on a 6 Lug Re-drill for my '91 Loyale. I've found quite a bit of info on how to do the re-drill. My question is on removal of the Hub's...Is there a write-up on hub removal or are there any tricks to removing to hub? Are there any parts I'll need to replace for re-installation? Cheers

Yes thank you bumblebeast I've read through ur posts and have found them very helpful. I'll keep the post updated. To be honest I'm worried about the rear camber. I'll post photos and info on my lift and camber. -
Loyale Rake

Just got back from the yard. Got the steering knuckle and also picked up an armrest center console! The only thing it's missing is the flip up top. Might make one or ask if someone in the forum has one laying around. They only had one GL and it didn't have the adjustable rear struts. I went to a few yards and one guy told me he crushed about 100 old subys last year....ugh. -

I'll keep a look out for the adjustable struts. It's not a huge deal like I said I'm going to move forward with everything and id I'm not happy w the ride height I'll make an adjustment. Just for info sake....what years should I be looking for in regards to the adjustable struts? -

Right on...Thanks everyone. I think the plan will be to install the lift and do the 6 lug conversion then see how she sits. If there's still quite a bit off rake I'll explore other options. I'm off to the salvage yard to pick up a 90-94 legacy steering shaft. I'll also keep an eye out for a 85-87 GL with the adjustable rear struts. If I can find them I might just pick them up as it would be nice to have some adjustability. I should have the lift by mid week and hopefully get everything on next weekend. I'll see what I can do about posting photos of the process for others. Thanks again...you guys are a wonderful asset to new Suby owners. Cheers, Jason -

I'll be installing my 2" lift in a week or so and wanted to ask about cutting a bit off of the rear spring to even out the ride height. I've read a few things online about it being fine to cut a spring as long as its Tangential. What are your thoughts on cutting a bit just to even her out? -

Hahaha...got ya. Yea I'm sure I'll want to go up in the future but this is my daily driver with the weekend being spent cruising dirt roads finding new streams. I'm certainly going to extend the steering shaft and also use the lowering blocks. What size lift did you settle on? -

Excellent...thanks guys. I've been looking at Anderson Lifts and Patrick and I have gone back and forth regarding the best option for me. I'll review the link from Bumble and see what I can put together. I appreciate it! -
I've got a 91 Loyale which sits well lower in the front than the rear. Were these built with a bit of rake? Or could my front springs or struts be shot? I'd like to lift it but would like it to be a bit more even so I'm considering a 3" in the front and 2" in the rear. Thoughts?

ea82 6 lug offset
Loyale w Cheese replied to Loyale w Cheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just called and salvage yard has most everything on the list. Quick follow up...which would stick out the farthest? Also I'm open to recommendations on which would be best. Cheers -

Awesome Kwiknez...thanks for the quick response! -
I'm planning a 2" lift and would like to fit 27" tires on 6 lug steels. Does anyone know what model trucks to look for in the junkyard for the rims? I'm concerned that the wheels will stick out way past the fenders. Cheers
