  1. I've used the Harbor freight ones for years, never had a problem. I do oil the threads to keep the nut from gauling. Larry
  2. I've been searching the yards for one for the 98 Outback that I have and have not seen another one like it. Starting to think it's an aftermarket even though it looks stock. UPAP and pull the complete unit.
  3. Yep, I got everything including the bracket. Now I just need to find a good 2.2 to drop in. Thanks, Larry
  4. Nope, just pulled everything off a 2000 Legacy. Looks like it will bolt right up.
  5. Picked up the conversion kit from the UPAP about $75 for everything. I'll let you know how it goes.
  6. Has anyone put the newer 2000 Legacy Power Steering pump into a 98 Legacy? It looks like if you pulled the complete system and hoses it would bolt right in. Looks like the newer Power Steering pump does not have the same leak issues as the older pumps. Are you seeing fewer leaks on the new pumps? Thanks, Larry
  7. If you need injectors I have plenty. Complete set send to $20. You can back probe the connector and check for voltage. If you have power most likely a plugged injector. Larry
  8. Remember, with no load the DMM can lie to you. Check out www.brighterideas.com Dan's book and LoadPro are great.
  9. Yes, you can do it. It is held to the support with 2 10mm nuts. No you don't have to replace the seal.
  10. Pretty easy to pull it as previously stated. UPAP price is $60 for a complete bumper. Not bad.
  11. I'd purchased a aluminum radiator for a 2001 Impreza, I posted it here. All aluminum the only down side was it did not have the auto trans cooler in it if you needed that. Great price too.
  12. Tape will not hold pressure. I've installed early 90's radiators into 98-99 Legacy Outbacks, you just have to get the fans and the top brackets as well. Easy to find all metal aftermarket radiators on the older subarus that are almost new.
  13. She took it into one of the larger tire stores, tires, Struts. Got it back and it was worst than before. Turns out they had put the wrong struts on it, so they corrected that and replaced the rotors. A happy Subaru now.
  14. I think the bends in the muffler pipe are different and the rubber mount points are different. You may be able to make it work but is it worth it?
  15. You don't need a dual pipe, a single will be fine. If your pipe is good, you could always have the muffler welded on. Some mufflers are longer than others and may not fit in the hole. Check FedEx international, I might be able to ship you a stock US one from Colorado for less.
  16. If you end up needing a good filler pipe, let me know I have a couple and could pull one for you. $25 shipped. Larry, CO
  17. Shawn you are going to make all of the rust belt people mad. Love CO, Larry
  18. More the steering wheel, but I'll double check the rear brakes. Thanks
  19. A friend has a 99 SUS sedan 160K on it. It has a pretty good brake shimmy when stopping. Driving is fine and smooth. I checked for the normal things: - Turned the front rotors and installed new pads - Changed out the rack as there was a little play in it and I had a low mileage one (35K) - Checked for loose tie rod ends, wheel bearings, ball joints, they all seem fine. The front inner tire was worn down to the steel cords. I tried a different set of tires and rotating the tires on the car. While all of these efforts reduced the shimmy, none of them corrected it. She needs new tires, struts (not leaking but soft) and an alignment. I'd really like to find the source of the shimmy before new tires are put on. Anything I'm missing?
  20. If you can put an amp meter in the circuit, start pulling fuses 1 by 1 and see where your draw is coming from. Lots of lights share a comon ground so if you lost the ground the lights will not work. On a 97 Impreza, some younger mechanics has cut the radio harness and saw 12vdc on one of the wires. They thought it was the power for the radio, when it was really the ground for all of the dash lights. The ground was provided by the radio or ash tray light. Get the wire diagrams and see where the ground and power are for all the circuits you are concerned with. I bet there is a common wire.
