  1. What's the mileage? Piston slap is not a huge problem. Does it go away when up to temp? I'm sure GD has more info for you.
  2. Nothing but good things: https://www.superrupair.com/ http://www.strictlyautomotivedenver.com/ I use to work with Rick and Emily at CCREngines.com Shawn worked there as well for a time. CCREngines has changed hands. The new Owners seem good as well.
  3. All the power windows I have worked with have been hard wired! Not enough draw to need a relay.
  4. Good used hub will fix it all. www.car-parts.com will give you a good idea on $$ and availability. Pick one from a rust free area.
  5. The sooner the better. End of June for sure. Yes, Colorado Springs, CO It's a roller right now and kind of have to keep it that way until it's ready for the crusher.
  6. I hate to crush it, but they didn't offer me much at the you pull and pay. Great White body. I've posted in a couple of the forms, see pics for details. What do you need?
  7. You can always put the thermostats in a pot of water and bring it up to temp and watch them open. If you have a bottom radiator hose hot, you have flow through the radiator. Proper coolant is a good thought and pretty cheap.
  8. Update 12/24/2021: Subaru extended warranties on 2012-2018 models to cover this part at least until 10-31-22. • 2022 Update. Key ... This "fix" bypasses the park-range switch that often fails in 2015-2018 or 19 Outbacks. My wife's Outback has not had a key stuck since I put in the jumper wire and no dash lights have come on (the key was getting stuck regularly). The only risk may be that you can now remove the key with the car in drive, neutral, etc. If you can't live with that risk, then you better replace the switch per Subaru service bulletin # 16-112-18R (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/201.... This same method may be able to be applied to other Subaru models. Many modern Subarus use a similar wiring harness and wiring color scheme within the shifter console. If you want to try it on your own car, do so at your own risk. Also, remember to make a video so we can all benefit from your effort. 9. Cleaned a the connectors. I tried slaving in the old Trans switch, no change. I pulled the shifter apart and could see the switch. The shift lever was moving too far FWD and the SW opened again. Pull back on the shifter and it works as it should. Engine is running well. I just need to find a CAT to stop the exhaust leak.
  10. Never throw away/recycle Subaru Parts, you will miss them! New 98 has a hole in the CAT. I recycled 4 of them a year ago and now I need one! Anyone have one around? Second, the Key is stuck in the ignition. It will not come out. With the old trans it was fine. I think that switch is in the shifter and not part of the transmission so I don't know what would have caused it. Troubleshooting to do. The engine was dirty as can be. Headed to the car wash with degreaser. It's much cleaner now but developed a stumble. I put the proper NGK plug wires on it as it still had the DOHC 2.5 wires. I may just let it dry out while I'm off on Holiday for 2 weeks. Time to clean the garage!
  11. Anyone need parts off the Core Trans before I turn it in? Your pay shipping from 80919
  12. Pull the plugs and see what they look like. NGK copper core plugs and NGK plug wires.
  13. Matching trans out of the COS You Pull and Pay yesterday with only 109K on the car. It looked like it threw the T-belt, so hope the trans is good. It was not hit hard so I suspect it was in the yard for an engine failure.
  14. Grip Force Clutch kit and Fly Wheel off EBay, Works great! Back on the road.
  15. I picked up a 98 Legacy Outback with an Auto Transmission. There was a ton of play in the CV axles and it was rolling in park. Turns out the front differential retainer ring case was cracked. Sticking out 1/4 on the bottom. I've never seen that before. It has a 2.2 swapped into it already. Single port exhaust so I'm guessing 1996 - 99. Anyone know the transmission interchange years/models off the top of your head? I'll get the trans # to verify once it's out. Thanks, Larry
  16. Hopefully Dad has an OBDII reader for her and has taught her how to use it. Easy to clear.
  17. One driveline shop I called said they could not surface the dual mass fly wheels. Ordered a new Clutch kit including a fly wheel.
  18. I picked up a 06 Impreza OBS 2.5, Manual Trans. The car made a Brrrrr sound when first taking off or letting off the gas. Other than that the clutch and trans seemed fine. I pulled the trans today and the Fly Wheel is the two piece version. Not the solid. I think they call them dual mass? Can the Dual Mass fly wheels be surfaced. I thought I had a spare solid fly wheel but I could not find it in stock. Get the original surfaced? Buy a new solid fly wheel? Thanks Larry
