I picked up a 93 Impreza 1.8 153K. It runs fine but the coolant was full of oil, 99% oil. The oil does not have coolant in it, its clean as can be. Initially, I thought one of the quick lubes missed serviced. The PO said, that was not the case and the engine was using oil. They kept it full of Oil. Has anyone seen this? Head Gasket? Thanks, Larry

I found the correct wire for the signals, bottom aft connector on the kick panel fuse box top aft wire. If I power it from another fuse the signals work fine. By taking apart another fuse box, I found two other wires coming off that CB. Now I just have to figure out what the go to. Thanks for the suggestion. Larry

I have a 93 Turbo Legacy Sedan that the turn signal fuse blows as soon as the key is turn on (top aft fuse on the drivers kick panel). Funny thing, the emergency flashers work just fine. I need the FSM wiring, as the Michell's and Chiltons I have seem to be wrong. I've disconnected the turn siganl switch - fuse still blows I've disconnected the Emergency Flasher Switch - fuse still blows The only way I've been able to get it to stop is to disconnect the connector coming off the fuse block, top aft. If you have any thoughts, please send the advice and or wiring diagram. Thanks, Larry Lmdew@hotmail.com

Used parts are BBW unless they have a return policy. Then they will only give you another used part, may be good, may be bad. Labor is always at your expense. If the garage was not inside the trans, they didn't do anything that would cause torque bind. Does it go into the FWD mode when the fuse is installed?

coil help
lmdew replied to subestyle18's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
The coil is 3-4 1-2 If 1&2 are not sparking try the other ECU. I just had the same thing happen on a 93 Turbo engine swap, we got the wrong ECU in and it would not run and there was no sparke on the front coil of the coil pack. -
I have a line on a good 93 Impreza with bad headgaskets on a 1.8 engine. I'm looking for a USMB Member who may be willing to repalce the HG or drop in a good used 2.2. I'm in Colorado and I think it may be cheaper to get it fixed there and then drive it home. If you've done this type of work on Subarus before or know of a good private shop in the area please let me know. Willing to pay for parts and your time. Thanks, Larry Lmdew@hotmail.com

Manual you can put the trans in 5th and have someone hold the brakes. Auto, you can put a punch in the flex plate through the inspection hole. Either, You can pull a plug have the cyclinder on the compression stroke and then fill it with oil. Or push rope in to the plug hole. If using oil, put the plug back in and torque the bolt (125 ftlbs) then remove the plug and turn it through a few times to push the oil back out of the plug hole. Its messy but works. Inspect the pulley, shaft and key for damage, fix what is damaged.

Non - interference. No damage should have been done to the valves or pistons. You should not torque against the new t-belt. I use segments of the old one and a strap wrench to hold the cam pulleys when I torque those bolts. The main crank bolt should go to 125 ftlbs. You can torque it by locking up the flex plate on the auto or in gear on the manual. Just pull the belt back off and line up the timing marks and put the belt or new belt back on. After a few, you're a pro.
