  2. That's in the ball park. The new owner will be looking at 1200 - 3000 to get it back on the road.
  3. Did you get the coolant temp sensor plugged in? Both of them. One is for the dash, the other for the ECU.
  4. The big rubber tube that connects the filler tube to the tank is about a 1/4" thick hose. Not that it couldn't fail but it's not likely. I"d gas it up to just under full. Then take a 5 gallon gas tank and with the car jacked up, fill the tank. It will give you a good view of tank and filler tube. Easy enough.
  5. Where is the car from? If AZ I doubt it rusted out. Filler tube most likely. Also check the fuel pump. Someone may have done a poor job of replacing the gasket on top of the tank. Or fuel line up there.
  6. At one time, I picked up bronze bushing from Ace Hardware. They worked out well.
  7. Here you go, a bit of work and keep that 2.2 reliability and ease of maintenance. 94 Legacy $1200 https://westslope.craigslist.org/cto/d/montrose-1994-subaru-legacy/7113282509.html
  8. AT Light Flashing 16 times on start you have a code. Also take a good look at the rear diff and make sure the half shafts are fully seated. It take only about a 1/4" of outward movement for the axle to disconnect from the drive line. All that power going no where.
  9. Used engine from UPAP. Can take some time to find one. Things I look for: - Hit hard so you know it was going down the road - Good condition otherwise, lets you know the owner took care of the car - Oil pan pull the plug and check the condition of the oil that's left and no metal in the pan. Yes, it's a roll of the dice, but they give you a 30 day return and for <$400 you can have and engine, new T-Belt, gaskets and be on the road in a weekend.
  10. Should be able to call a Subaru Dealer with the VIN. Talk to the parts dept. They should be able to tell you which Crank gear it has.
  11. You can confirm, by pulling the crank sensor and looking down at the trigger teeth of the crank gear. One style has few (5) large teeth. The other style has many small teeth. If both engines are the same you are good. If not keep your original configuration by swapping the crank and driver side cam gear over.
  12. Check the small single connector on the back of the starter. Did you turn the engine over by hand? I suspect the first, since you are not hearing a click.
  13. I've had a few Foresters that have had the coolant line coming over to a little oil cooler that sits between the block and oil filter.
  14. Classic Head Gasket Leak. When cold, it will hold pressure. When it's hot, the compression gasses are pushing the coolant out of the block and into the overflow bottle. Many time the coolant will not be pulled back into the coolant system. Check the Radiator level in the radiator when cold. Any oily black stuff in the overflow bottle confirms the HG leak. Drop a good 2.2 in it and go.
