  1. Sounds like the wrong bolt in the Starter position when he changed the transmission. Single washer, ground bracket, starter, trans and into the block. You could pull the bolt from the yard if you have a self serve yard near you.
  2. That Link should go into the Tech Articles. Someone put a lot of work into it! Thanks for sharing. 79, 83 & 84 1000SP - all sold now. Larry
  3. Get a Motive brake Bleeder. They work Great! https://www.amazon.com/Motive-Products-European-Bleeder-Pressure/dp/B0002KM5L0/ref=asc_df_B0002KM5L0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198100799464&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=902790476625103202&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014471&hvtargid=aud-801381245258:pla-380942840295&psc=1
  4. 99 Outback 5sp with a 95 2.2 engine swap. 96-2002 Impreza OBS Easy to work on! 2.2 keep on going and going. Easy to find parts when needed, which is not very often. < $4000 - cheap insurance.
  5. The rest of the system CAT back are the same. Look at your O2 Sensor placement. They do vary year to year.
  6. Cheap lift drive one wheel up on the curb. Snow may have those covered as well. Love CO. 54 today. Sweet might even make a Junk yard visit just for fun.
  7. What did you find at the latch tab inside the car under the dash? Shoot a pic.
  8. If you want to measure lengths and send pictures I'll see what I have. 80919 is my zip for shipping.
  9. The cable runs under the radiator support from the drivers side. Could pull front wheel and inner fender and you'd see it. Last resort.
  10. I thought they were spring loaded open. But you could always safety wire it in the open position once the cable if out of the picture.
  11. I'd fist check and see if the cable is on the lever attached inside the car. If so, have someone push down on the hood when you pull the lever and then pull up the hood. If the cable ball end is not attached to the lever under the dash, you could just pull it with a vice grips. If neither of those work you will have to get into the grill area to pull on the cable or unbolt the latch 12mm bolts.
  12. Just disconnect the cable from the clutch throw out fork. That way it will not close the HH valve. If you make sure the valve is open, it's out of the picture.
  13. I most likely have a complete exhaust for it in Colorado. Shipping is not cheap but neither are cats. What's up with yours that you are changing it? Did it come from the rust belt?
  14. You most likely have a single port exhaust on the 96 2.2. You can find the aftermarket Y-Pipes and they are pretty good. Cats you can't get from the yards anymore, but can find them used. I have a few in Colorado Springs, CO. Mid and rear exhaust pipes can be swapped out. Just need to match the length.
  15. He had it checked by the local Subaru Dealer and they said it needs a short block? Well loved Impreza for sale, needs new short block (timing belt went out). Has brand new Blizzaks (less than 3 weeks old), brakes / rotors done 2 months ago. Car is in great shape except for the necessary engine swap. Great project for someone with the know how. https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/colorado-springs-06-subaru-impreza/7053573916.html I'd think bent valves but a block? I don't know the newer ones like the old 90's so I thought I'd ask. Thanks
  16. The HG on the 2.2 are not much of a problem. I would not do them unless you know they are bad. Check out www.car-part.com I'm sure you will find one with lower miles.
  17. Tax write off is just what the Charity sells the car for. With the higher standard deduction, most folks don't get to claim charity donations anymore.
  18. I've found may at the You pull and pay yards. $40 complete. You could try www.car-part.com and ask them if they are KYB, no leaks and good top mounts.
  19. Have a good Drivers side Fog. $15 + shipping. If your in no rush I can bring it to PDX the next time I'm there.
  20. I'd spend some time checking the rear diff/half shafts and the rest of the drive line before pulling the engine. Time well spent IMHO. Drain the trans, see what the gear lube looks like and if you get chunks. Hope it all goes well.
