  1. When you first turn the key on, you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds to build pressure. If you hear it run, you should have fuel coming out the filter hose. You can always pull the air box off the throttle body and put a cap full of fuel in the throttle. Put it back together, it should start and run for a bit.
  2. GD are you running Amsoil and Amsoil filters? What interval do you change them out at? Thanks, Larry
  3. I've always been a change it ever 3000 miles with a quality oil and filter and check ever gas fill up - $20 or so. How many are running Amsoil is $8 - $12 a quart and the filter is $16. So say $66 for an oil change. Are you running it to 100k for the next oil change? What's your experience? Better half now has a 2006 Forester. Thanks, Larry
  4. I have good front hubs in Colorado. Sometimes the axle CV joint fails internally so the axle shaft is turning but no power is being transmitted to the wheel. Have someone put it in gear while you watch the axle from above and off to the side. Is the axle turning? If so it's most likely the outer CV Joint. Get a Subaru axle. Larry
  5. Talked to the scrap yard supervisor. He told me they don't do a think with the cars they scrap complete with good airbags. He said the shredder didn't care.
  6. 95 may be an aftermarket system. Have you pulled the door panel to see? You could pull the fuse when you park it and then see if the battery drain goes away. That would isolate it to that system.
  7. I've scrapped lots of Subaru's over the years but never thought about what the yards do with non-deployed airbags. I have several passenger and drivers side airbags that I'm going to recycle. I searched the web and found a few options but other than deploying them with 12 volts - 30 feet away and then just sending them through the metal recycle centers not much. Thought I'd ask. Thanks, Larry
  8. If you end up needing one. I have an 07 Legacy Outback CAT. The engine had 42K on it. $200 = Shipping from 80919
  9. I have cam gears and everything you need to put it back together to see if it runs. Shipped from CO, 80919
  10. I'd pull the cam gear and see what's up. If the cam froze due to lack of lub, the engine most likely is beyond hope. Dig a little further, drain the oil and check the filter for metal. Miles?
  11. MPG comes up every winter. Owners allowing the car to warm up, and gas that does not have all the summer additives contributes to lower MPG.
  12. Is it building pressure in the coolant hoses when the engine heats up? Are the Heater hoses getting hot on the fire wall? Couple of easy things to check.
  13. Are you sure it's a Factory system? If so there should be a reset button connected to two brown wires. Have to press and hold the switch with the key on. If it's and aftermarket system, I pull them out and restore the wiring to normal. More problems then they are worth IMHO.
  14. Take your 95 2.2 and drop it in a 98-99 Outback that needs a motor. It will be like a new car and last another 10 years.
  15. Clean and or change the Mass Air flow sensor. Used Subaru one is fine. Make sure the ducts and tubes off the airbox are in good condition and tight.
  16. The resistor pack is under the glove box in the air ducting. Two screws and a connector.
  17. They are a pain and it's hard to install them as well. On installation you have to compress the strut with a jack to line up the bottom bolt hole. Box wrench and a BFH to get the nut broke loose or a long breaker bar.
