  1. I picked up a clean Colorado Rust Free Impreza 2 door today. A couple of minor dings. Interior is clean, tan. Crank up windows. Great running 2.2 and auto trans. I'd be happy to drive it anywhere. If the swappers did not want the engine and trans, I'd keep them. Did you ever sell yours Subaru3? In Colorado Springs 80919. I'd deliver for the costs of the trip. GD you have a customer out in Portland looking for one? Larry
  2. Soak all the studs with PB Blaster or something. They break easy. In Rust Free Colorado, I'd just hit the yard and pull Subaru parts. Aftermarket Pumps are junk.
  3. Fuel Pump Relay under the dash is also a possibility. Check for voltage at the pump connector under load. You can jump the pump there with a battery as well. If you get a pump, get a Subaru Pump, after markets are pretty much junk.
  4. copper core NGK plugs are all that's needed. Subaru or NGK wires and standard NGK copper core plugs.
  5. All the ones I have worked with have been a little hose clamp with philips screws. I have seen some locking fuel lines on newer cars they require a cheap tool to release them. Like the ones pictured below.
  6. Better half's Forester has water in the headlights. I've picked up a replacement set, but I was looking to see if anyone had luck repairing the composite headlights. Thanks,
  7. I have a complete gauge cluster in COS. I don't remember if the clock was working or not. PM your email and I'll send you some pics when I get home. Larry
  8. Heuberger Subaru in Colorado Springs - I've bought many parts from them. Good discount off the counter price. Buy Subaru Parts near Me | Auto Parts near Castle Rock, CO (bestbuysubaru.com) They use to have their own parts website but things have changed. Same discounts but now its only on parts that are shipped. I can't order online and then walk into the counter.
  9. I always found it easier to to change out the complete hub, but that's in Rust Free Colorado.
  10. Yes, pull the engine it will make the jobs much easier. Reseal the rear breather plate behind the flywheel when you have it off. Don't mess with the rear main crank seal. The Subaru seals last forever. It's the breather plate that starts leaking.
  11. My 2000 Impreza will not handle a heavy load when it's hot. Towing or mountain driving. Otherwise the temp is steady as can be. I've replaced the radiator with a full aluminum radiator. Thermostat replaced. Water Pump is good. I'm going to flush the coolant system this spring. Run cleaner in the engine a time or two.
  12. 2005 SUBARU OUTBACK WAGON AWD VERY CLEAN LOWER MILEAGE!!! - cars &... (craigslist.org) HG done, looks very clean.
  13. Sad that Subaru lost the reliability we use to know and depend on 1988 - 2006 or so. When asked if I should buy a new Subaru I tell folks nothing newer than 2006. We know about the DOHC HG issues and a few others. Watch the Temp gauge, steady as can be and about half. Check the fluids at every fill up. Take care of your older Subaru and it will take care of you.
  14. Good Day, I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I'm retired Military (USN), retired Aircraft Maintenance Training Instructor. I have lots of house construction experience, from the foundation to the roof. Lots of Subaru swaps and maintenance done. 15_ 2.5 DOHC to 2.2 swaps done. This last year, I helped a friend and relative build two garages in Wisconsin. Hot shower and hot coffee in the AM and a cold beer in the evening is about all I need. If you have an interesting location and need some help, let me know. I have flight benefits so I can fly on the cheap most anywhere in the world as long as there is an open seat. Hawaii, EU, Canada.... I love to travel. Larry
