  1. Will do. I'll keep you guys posted. I may sell it to get a brat once I get her all fixed up. Dunno yet :-)
  2. I want to eventually get a lift kit and a safari rack. Would also like to get a brush guard for the front. The biggest thing right now is taking car of the floors. Can't have sandy mud water comming up through the floors all the time :-). Would like to swap in a dual range if I can find one, as I still have the bell housing that came on the JDM motor with the. I'll have to find what all it entails in swapping it out.
  3. I don't want the car to look like a boy racer tried to ************ it up. It draws way too much attention :-). It's covered with Mudd now. Some people would cringe if they saw what I was doing to that paint.
  4. I don't even pay attention to that thing. When I get some time, I't getting mounted under the hood or tossed in my tool box.
  5. It's got a b & m shifter too. That and the gauge are going. Like I said before, I think the guy who had it thought he had a 60hp race car. There is no way to touch up that paint ... so It's gotta go. The car is close to the eastern panhandle in WV. Mineral County. It came from Winchester VA, then my neighbor bought it and I traded him an old minibike for it. It had a dead cylinder when I got it. We got a JDM motor off of ebay for it and my GF's brother installed it for me over a few hours last weekend. Car only has 52 thousand on the clock , but has some rust in the floorboards from sitting as long as it did. If anyone has carfax. let me know. I'd like to see where this car is from ..
  6. Stock 13 steelies. 155 80 r13 Douglas X-Track tires. For the light offroading that I do, these suit me fine. At least until I get a lift kit.
  7. The paint doesn't look that bad, but due to some of the rust spots on the drivers door, I'm gonna have to paint it. It's definately different looking.
  8. I am trying to come up with a name for the car. I was leaning towards "Grimmace" because it looks so much like that fat hamburger eating fool.
  9. Yeah. I really like what the guys over at Hatch Patrol do with their cars. Too bad I'm probably one of the only hatches left in running condition on the east coast. Don't see too many of them around here that haven't completely rusted to bits.
  10. Yeah .... I don't know what the previous owner thought he was driving..... I'm going to coat in either flat black or olive drab once I get my other car next weekend. I have to fix some holes in the floors too. Went trudging through a mud puddle today right after the pictures and water came up through. The puddle was hell of a lot deeper than I thought. The water was almost clean up to the air cleaner. I backed out of that as fast as I could.
  11. Pics fixed - I linked directly - warning - they are huge! The new frontal shots ( with the terrorist hunting permit ) show the positive camber that I was talking about in a previous post.
  12. Here are a few pictures of my 1980 DL hatch. Got the JDM Motor in it and running a week ago. This weekend I took it on a few little trails. http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0001.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0002.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0003.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0004.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0005.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0006.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0007.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF0008.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF00099.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF00343.JPG http://www.thundervalleydirtdrag.com/subie/DSCF00345.JPG
  13. The car only has 53k on it. When I take it in for the alignment, I'll have my mechanic take a look at it. The previous owner bought tires at sears a few years back and they have on the slip that it needed shocks. The one tire on the left front side had some uneven wear on the outside, but I think the guy hit a curb and never had it aligned ... the grease cap was missing off the wheel. Nothing looks bent underneath. It does need aligned. How much camber is normal?
  14. After looking at the front of my newly revitalized 80 DL hatch , I noticed that the front wheels were both angled slightly inwards toward the bottom of the motor. Looks like it's time to replace the shocks on the front. Anyone have anything in mind? I just bought all new tires and will be doing some light offroading on trails. No lift, all stock. 4wd.
  15. What is the best way of adjusting the mixture and idle on the stock carb? Do I have to plug up any hoses and pull the air cleaner off or can I just adjust both screws?
