  1. Hey guys, I have a 1986 GL auto 4WD with manual steering. Is it possible to simply pull the manual steering out and put in a power steering one from either a 1987 GL or a 1993 Loyale? If so, what is involved to do so.......could a novice mechanic pull if off? I would appreciate the feedback.
  2. Hey guys, I'm going to attempt to install the 1993 Loyale dashboard into a 1985 GL.........and I've never took one out before. Anybody out got any tips or tricks to make it easier? Perhaps a diagram of the screw locations would be of great help. Also, is there anything I need to be cautious of? Thanks, I appreciate the help. Gary
  3. Hey guys, I own a 1986 GL auto 4WD wagon w/carbo (burgundy) and my mom owns a 1985 GL 4WD wagon (blue) w/carbo. I'm always on the lookout for spare parts to keep these cars looking their best, as some stuff just fails over time due to age. I'll be stripping two cars in the next week, and I'm curious on what is really worth grabbing from them. They are: 1987 GL auto 4WD wagon (I think it's a carbo) and it is also the same blue as moms car...........virtually an identical twin in appearance. 1993 Loyale manual 4WD wagon (engine type unknown) and it looks to have been repainted a tan color (as the side moldings are painted over as well). Not counting the obvious accessories I'll pull from each car, is there anything in particular I should take out and save of importance? I usually take most of the interior stuff (except the dashboard itself, some components from it though), the fenders, most exterior hardware (handles, moldings, light fixtures, wire harnesses, etc.). I'm not familiar with what changes were made on the Loyale's from the GL's, except for the center armrest........which is taller. This is the first Loyale I've ever taken parts from, so I'm excited to see some of the changes that were made visually. I'm just curious what I could use from a Loyale that would make our older GL's better in some way in appearance and quality in terms of materials used on the later models. Thanks.
  4. On the plus side..... The car is intact (except the engine stuff), so interiors and body components are what I'm after anyway. It has the 4 center wheel caps (hard to find those anymore), the white steel rims, the cargo cover, roof racks, etc. So the $150 is worth it alone for the accessories to me.................and I always take the bumpers, fenders, headlights, lens, etc.
  5. should I not worry about messing with it then, just strip the parts only?
  6. I'm not much of a mechanic, but I'm going to be stripping parts out of a 1993 Loyale Wagon 4WD next week. It's a manual transmission, where the 1987 is a automatic. If the 1993 one is a carb car, is it possible I could take those parts to put in the 1987? Just tossing out ideas....
  7. Thanks for the input gang. My goal was to strip the car, only paying $150 for the whole thing. I didn't want to do this to a car worthy of saving......but it might be too much effort.
  8. Can you guys tell what version motor this is? It's a 1987 GL wagon, 4WD model. I'm considering buying it, but don't know if I want to strip it or rebuild it. The seller says it's missing a wire harness and vacuum lines. Does anything stand out to help me with what exactly I would need to pickup? Thanks guys!
