  1. Not sure how you managed to get an imperial red 85 sedan out of my picture or signature....:-\ This car be a 87 turbo wagon in the maple beige variety... And nope the elk was a cow not a bull so no horns. Hush I'm just hoping that we can do something similar to this repair with the other one that has a minor boo-boo See my other post http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28074
  2. This is the car after some minor repairs. Hush
  3. Every one that I have ever done has had one. Just did the clutch in my son's 91 4x4 5speed and used a clutch kit from a local supplier (Bow-wow) and all their subaru kits come with 5 pieces. Disk Plate Throwout bearing Pilot Bearing alignment tool Cost to me was around 125 Hush
  4. Sorry about that I didn't check which forum I was in when I posted this. Could one of you guys move this to the new gen forum please. Hush
  5. Last nite on of the boys was out driving his crx and with a bad battery it gave up. (Driving on the private road where we live) so he came back to the house and borrowed our 97 impreza outback sport to go jump it. He says he was only doing 25-30 and it was slick and the car wouldn't steer so he ran into a bolder at the end of the road. (pics included). Having driven in the snow for a long time, knowing the road he was on and the car, I am having a hard time believing his story. I would like so other opinions about all this is anyone cares to pipe in. The road is flat, gravel (more dirt than gravel) it was snowing lightly (managed to get our 77 chevy truck out of the driveway in 2 wheel drive and that is up a 12% or better rutted grade) but I don't think it was that slick out. The car is AWD and was in AWD (ie. The FWD fuse was not in). Have checked the antilock brakes on this just last friday so I'm pretty sure that they were in working order. The only thing that I question about the whole situation is the facts that the damage is more consistant with a greater display of speed than he says, BUT the airbag did not deploy. Has anyone had experience with this type/extent of damage and did the airbag deploy?? Anyone know exactly where the front sensor is located at, and at what speed the bags will deploy? Hush
  6. Having broken lots of these I have started adding extra lengths of vacuum line and splicing in some more wire to move both solenoids to the pass strut tower where you can see them and deal with them in a better manner. Hush
  7. What I do when I do a clutch is to clean off the collar that the throughout bearing rides on, make sure the groove in the bearing is packed before you put it on. Then take the clutch disk, smear a little grease in the inside of the splined area, slide it over the input shaft, while it is on there take a rag and wipe the excess off, slide it back off and clean the outside of the spline area on the clutch disk. This puts a small amount of grease on the splines, but not enough to get on the disk. Hush
  8. Yup, Pulled the hood and fender off, Pulled things out a bit and swapped in a different radiator. The back of the headlight went through the side of the battery.... Only a month old.... so have to change that out also.... Have a different hood (stored 65 miles away) with a scoop (homemade from a snowmobile) and a blue fender. Am going to have to use an old headlight for the moment (someone pasted a bunch of silicone on it) but should be run-able in the morning. Hush
  9. Will take pictures in a little while. Traveling home last nite at 12 midnite one ran out in the road and I (thanks to 4 disk brakes) managed to stop without the elk coming through the windshield (it was airborn). It did a flip and ended off the road on the other side. Dead when it landed..... Took out the head light, hood (needed work anyways from when Chris W. took out a couple deer), Drivers fender, grill, Radiator, and fan (one on waterpump).... Kids (two boys were with me) and I are fine. Old lady came a long with her car (Colt vista) and we drug it the last couple mile to the house. Hush Need to change my sig..... Flying Banana with a bandaid...:-\
  10. BTW Your loyale is considered a old gen wagon as it is the ea82 body style. New Gen is legacy, impreza, outback, forester stuff. Hush
  11. Cougar's diagram should work for all of your system except the auto seatbelt stuff. The signal for the injectors to open comes from the ditributor and the ignitor. Hush
  12. Either way would work for me. I have access to a scanner so I could put the package into a USRM post or email able form Hush Pm me if you want my addy
  13. >> I would give you a copy as soon as I'm done with it (should be this weekend) in exchange for a couple of parts or something. IS this an email able manual? Hush
  14. Anyone ever done this conversion? Have a donor car 90 Loyale and am getting everything off of it. Computer Wiring harness (complete) Fuel pump Intake All the sensors and the maf Want to put it all on a 86 gl sedan Any thoughts? Hush
  15. Timing belt and reseal were done 4000 ago. Carb is a hitachi. Car ran fine before I did the carb, now it seems like it has a hell of a vacuum leak. Checked and double checked the vacuum routing according to the hood diagram and also a diagram in a hanes manual. Will probably pull and plug all the vacuum lines coming off the carb and intake to eliminate them as a source of the problem. Hush
  16. 86 gl d/r 4x4 ea82 engine. Was working on getting my turbo going with the intention of giving this car to my neice. Was thinking that the carb needed a kit as it lacked a little in power would do the morning high idle at about 3500, and was only getting about 23 to the gallon. Had already resealed everything and did new cap rotor, plugs and timing belt. Thought it was almost ready to go. Pulled the carb, cleaned it, put the kit in and back on it went. Ran like crap. Thought seems like a vacuum leak. Sprayed cleaner around till I was pretty sure that it was the base of the carb..... Got another carb and put the kit in it. Ran worse still...... same vacuum leak with a different base.... thought damn..... found yet another carb and checked the throttle shaft on it... nice and tight... put that on the carb and then on the car..... Ran even worse.... Sprayed cleaner around and thought that there might be a leak around the egr valve.... pulled checked cleaned and new gasket... didn't help... sprayed some more... found a intake bolt loose... thought, that's it... pulled manifold and new gaskets... Did not change it at all. Spraying inder the intake just to the right of the Thermostat/egr area effected the engine quite a bit so I though.. Damn again... pulled the manifold and put a new one on.... Still will not run..... Changed all the vacuum lines out, cleaned and resealed everything on the manifold... don't know what to try next..... Car will start, run great till the choke starts to open then if dies out.... Crank the idle screw way in and it will stay running till the choke opens up some more.... manually close the choke down when the engine is running at around 1500 and the thing will race right up to 4500..... Any thoughts?????? Please!!!??? Hush Car is red if that means anything;)
  17. Finally got my Turbo Wagon Running. 87 gl. Took it for a test drive and everything seems to work good except the trans just makes a clicking sound while you are moving and try for 3rd or 5th gear..... Seems strange to me that it would be those 2 gears and not something like 3 and 4, slides in smooth with the car is stationary. Talked to Chris W. who gave me the car and he says the trans never gave him any trouble, so I thought that I would see if anyone else has had a similar situation.... The car sat for around a year and has a new clutch. Didn't do anything to the trans at all just stuff to the engine. Hush
  18. Don't have a manual around for this beast yet (probably get one this afternoon) and am having to use a different dist. for it. Am working on a 87 turbo wagon using a 87 carbed dist. Am not getting any pulse to the injectors. Is the pulse coming off of the dist?? Original dist. has four wires and the one I'm using only has two. Figured that the other two were for the knock computer and was just bypassing the computer for the moment. Anyone know if the injector pulse comes from the dist (directly or indirectly)?? Hush
  19. http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/ke.kb.sp?kbb&&&usedCars;slp is the site to check with kelly blue book about values on used cars. They allow you to put in the condition of the vehicle and mileage to determine the value. Hush
  20. Thanks for the help guys. I did a search Tim and did come up with the link that TomRhere put up but didn't find the one you put up which had more what I needed. Sent the first post and then thought "search"..... kinda backward I know. Just wanted to say thanks. Hush
  21. Could anyone tell me the float level adjustment on a 32/36 dgav, will be setting on a 20R toyota engine. Thanks Hush
  22. We just picked a 97 outback sport up that has 305,000 all original...... Hush
  23. 91 loyale spfi 290,000 when we got it. Gave it to my oldest son for his 18th birthday. Two days later (after getting back from a visit to a different town) he is complaining of noise in the trans. Tore it out and down and found the pinion was missing a few teeth. Swears up and down that there was not liquid stupidity involved just some 4 wheeling up some pretty steed stuff and then at the top the front wheels came off the ground. Made the noise right after it landed. Hush
