Sorry My Bad

Gas filter is in tank not AT filter. Sounds kinda bassakwards to me. So change filter?

In regards to the AT Filter, as dash said, It's designed to last the life of the car. When pricing out the filter at my local dealer they said the same thing. My fluid is a nice red color with no leaks. I'm leaning towards not changing it out. Save money and effort. What do you folks think? Leave good enough alone or be my usual overkill self and do an R&R?

Great. Saves me some searching. Any idea as to why the fuel filters are so often in tank now? I've never understood why they do it.

Thanks dash. Been Googling and getting nowhere (prob operator error). As far as the trans, are you referring to engine compartment? Same question for the gas filter. Trans fluid looks good. Bright red and smooth. Since I don't know about the previous owners car care habits I thought I'd be safe and spend a couple of bucks. I'm taking your advice on the filter and I will do the same if I need to top off the fluid.

I just got a 2006 Impreza 2.5i wagon with an automatic trans. I understand I have an external trans filter. I can't find info on it's location. Same goes for the gas filter. I plan on getting a Chiltons but money is tight. Thanks for any help.

Just want to say Hi and pass on some sad news. Our 1996 Outback Impreza, that we have had since it was new is now a parts donor due to an accident . We are now the proud owners of a used 2006 Impreza 2.5i Wagon that I am now trying to learn my way around.
