  1. I've got this 97 Impreza OBS, and I've been trying to keep it running. Recently replaced the tranny, and that part of it is running fine now, thank god. Problem now is I have a vacum seal thats been corrupted. The nipple is busted off, so fixiing it now is important. I found it after having the car limp home in gimp mode. I tried to do a fix up job w epoxy, knowing its a botch fix, and is only temporary. What I need to know is, what the part is, where I can get it, and how difficult is it going to be to put the damned thing in. It location in under the passenger side intake(?) or it could be the manifold. What ever, its on top, under some stuff, and I gots me big hands, so I'll have to take stuff apart to do it myself. Or should I just take it to a shop and have them do it? follow the majic link for photos: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=10204
  2. I just recently had the tranny in my 97 OBS replaced, and along the way, the Mech. said "Your O2 sensor is broken, I'm-a gonna fix it." Fine I say, but the cars been running fine with it broken for what going on years now. If you think it'll make a difference, go for it. Well, it HAS made a difference. For the worse. After about 20 minutes of driving the car, I loose ALL power. Tourqe is gone. I can hardly maintain 55mph. The car idles VERY roughly, and at very low rpm's. In fact it has died on me at stop lights. This is getting frustrating. It was suggested that I remove one of the cables to the battery so that the 'puter will reset itself, and maybe the car/sensor will run like it used to. Is there any validity to this? Or should I simply take the car back to the Mech. and have him 'fix' it again?
  3. Hey. New poster here. I've got two Subies. Love 'em both, but they're slowly going downhill. The terrain I live in demands the Subie advantage though, so I'm keeping 'em in the family. The most serious issue I've got is with our 97 Impreza OUtback Sport. The engine was replaced after 130k because of a freak rod sieze. We got a new engine with that with only 3k on it. Cool! Thing is, we shoulda gotten a tranny w/it, bacause the old one(manual) is now on the fritz. I've got 1,2,3,5,R, and 3 is fading quickly. It won't even stay in 4th, so the car has been relegated to town errands. I've been looking for a tranny for a while now, looking from Madison to Mpls, but can't find a thing. Would any one else out there have any leads for me to follow up on? FWIW, I'm located a bit south of LaCrosse WI. Thanks!
