  1. Cool, looks like it was getting a little light as well. I like the last pic the best.
  2. SWEET I look forward to it. Unfortunately I can't make it down to see you guys. I'll see you soon though.
  3. I heard he was building it. I can't remember his name but he owns this one too. He talked about it at WCSS5. Tom @ Aarons told me he had picked up the running gear from him. I think it is an EJ22 with the AWD system. If he puts as much love into this that he put into the Hatch it will be awesome.
  4. If you can't get schedules matched with Alltalk let me know. I have a Suburban and car trailer that make short work of hauling Subes.
  5. Yes, you will have to notch the crossmember to get the crossover to go over a non-turbo crossmember.
  6. Thanks Adam for that info. That was going to be my response. The only way you'd see those tires on a GL is if it was a 2wd model. So, they put a load of work into that one.
  7. Rule of thumb for cutting coils is only 1/2 a coil at a time. 2 coils sounds more like 4" to me. But you won't know until you put it together. And as far as shock length goes. Just put them side by side and measure them fully extended and fully compressed. That will tell you the difference.
  8. Hey Kurt, I heard a rumor, any substance to it?
  9. '8/86 build date makes it an '87 model year so the grill is correct. The decals came from an RX all right. Carbed motor which is slightly unusual as the SPFI was supposed to replace the carb in '87. Drum brakes and incorrect interior. No diff-lock either. OBTW, it's a DL model.
  10. Very nice. How's it run? Have you had it on any trails yet?
  11. I managed to do two in my old 2wd GL10 in 30 minutes. That was wheel on the ground to wheel back on the ground. Trail changes make some difference. Terrain, temps and such will add to the time.
  12. Scott, well put. BTW, I love that movie, but, I can't remember that line. I guess I'll have to throw the video in and watch it again.
  13. No offence but you may want to check other sources. It seems very expensive set up charge. You say set up charge, what are the material costs?
  14. The kit is jetted for your application. Unless the one on EBay is for a Subaru it may not be. The adapter isn't a big deal. The Weber adapter works just fine as long as you pay attention to details. There have been many write-ups about this and a simple search should provide you with many choices and opinions. Good luck!!
  15. Basher, I was hung up on the IFS thing. It is the future and I am taking it as far as I can. Freak, that was kind of the idea. They are nissan parts and it is the first. Junkie, cheap way out? I guess that depends on your definition of cheap. Compared to axle shafts that will handle the stresses of long travel then definitely. BTW, something else to ponder. Anyone remember when a completely unknown guy from Newport Washington showed up claiming to have added a transfer case and 6" of lift? Considered blasphamy at first. Now people are lining up to do it. Open yourselves up to the future.
  16. I'll start the replies with this. They are Nissan parts. For those that don't like it, that's OK. No really, it's OK. I(we) didn't build it for you. The specs; 10" lift in the front(combination of body and suspension lift), transfer case, solid rear axle(4.37 ratio) with stock Nissan leaf springs. I will be changing the gear ratio to 4.63 or 4.88. The motor is the same EA81 that ran the Rubicon. Approx 120 hp with a high torque cam and Weber carb. 5sp D/R trans. Still haven't decided about the new exhaust. It will run 31's. There are a couple other things as well but they must be proven to handle the stresses before I let people in on them. I don't want anyone getting hurt. The reasoning behind our mods. After seeing what rigs run the most difficult trails with ease and success it was a no-brainer. Now for the nay sayers. When does a 'yota stop being a 'yota? Most run diesel or Chev V-8's. When is a Jeep no longer a Jeep? Full tube frames and altered powerplants. I expected this exact reaction. So, I am not upset by it. I knew it would be mixed at best. Most people that have seen it in person are overwhelmed and impressed by the stance, clearance and the obvious ability that it shows. BTW, get used to seeing many more. I know of at least 3 that will have the solid rear. And once it is trail proven there will be more. Thanks for checking it out. I will have more info to come.
  17. The Hatch Patrol Story It all started back in 1999. A few of us had met through the Ultimate Subaru Message board. We decided to attend a local event called the “West Coast Subaru Show”. We all drove in as a group and were deemed the Hatch Patrol by the promoter of the show, Geoffrey R. Back then we had only one lifted Subaru. That was Mike W’s Hatchback. We started talking about making a club for our little hobby. We decide that the direction we wanted to go was off-road. Since that day we have tried to raise the bar for what is expected and accepted for our Subaru’s. We have done things like rear disc brake conversions, 5 sp conversions, 6 lug conversions, radiator relocation, dual E-brakes, High performance engines, building bumpers, roll bars, installing different seat options, LSD conversions, XT6 alts, GM alts, on-board welders, on-board air. 3”-12” lifts, even V-6 swaps, and the latest, transfer case mods. Some of our exploits have taken us from the mountains to the shores to the desert. We were the first recorded and documented group of Subaru’s to take on the Rubicon Trail. We have driven the thousands of miles off-road. Seen some extraordinary country and made life long friends along the way. Our experience at the Rubicon Trail plus taking a few runs with some local rock crawling groups has lead us to find ways of increasing suspension travel and reliability. With this in mind, take into consideration the Eric Zap, John(Mudrat), Robert(lumpycam) and I have been discussing different options for the last 3 years. What I am about to show you is the culmination of those thoughts and the efforts of some very creative people. The finished product is still a couple weeks off but I have driven it(without brakes and exhaust) and I think it will make the Brat a formidable contender on any and all 4WD trails. http://usmb.net/gallery/album255
  18. Adam, that was only half done. Corky, every time I look at it the smile returns. Mudrat,... Scooby, no Suzuki running gear. The 6 lug conversion has been on it since I lifted it.
  19. Andy, those are EA82 tranny mounts. Looks like Edrach has a bead on them.
  20. I am happy to have had the chance to say goodbye face to face. Call us as soon as you land back on US soil. We'll be waiting for you. Remember, duck doesn't mean look to see what you're ducking from. See you soon.
  21. Thread and pitch are 12x1.25. I have no idea on length.
  22. This isn't a competition(so to speak). It is about pushing the limits and raising the bar. I apologize to those that feel left out. But, I want this to be done right and it will be. Once debuted there will be full documentation of it. I'm glad to see that there is still an interest in what the HP is up to. Sometimes it seems like we have made the rare and impossible mundane. It's cool to know we still shake things up a bit.
