  1. Actually, not many hatches left in the Hatch Patrol.
  2. Very nice! Looks to be in pretty good shape. Pics are just a litle unclear to determine that though. You gonna bring it by to check it out. I may have a few parts for it as well. Depends on what else it needs. Ken
  3. Welding the back is overkill. All you need is a flat surface to allow the studs to sit flat. Drill your holes and spot face the backside of the holes. It will leave you with the same amount of material as the stock holes have. I never even welded the "old" holes closed. I was going to but haven't gotten to it yet and have not had any issues to date. About a year on them now.
  4. Just what Northguy said. I used Champion in the far away past. The isolators are/were thinner than most and you could actually crack them just by installing them. I use Autolites in domestics and only NGK's in all imports.
  5. The disty gear runs off the back of the drivers side cam shaft. It really wouldn't show anything if the belt broke. Once the pulley is off the answer will be found.
  6. Welcome and enjoy yourself. For the most part this is the finest site going and you will find lot's a knowledgable help.
  7. You can actually strip teeth off around the crank. It will appear that the belts are good but it won't actually turn the belts. You say you removed the disty to check the gear. Does the disty turn when you turn over the car?
  8. Well given that hint, it has to be an '84 Brat.
  9. I will assume it's a Subaru. I will also assume it's a wagon. The tough part will be year and body style. If it dk red, I will guess an 85/86 GL wagon.
  10. He's a good kid Tim. He'll come through. Try to be patient.
  11. Other problem would be that the EA81 and EA82 flywheels are cut at different depths. So it can't use the same pressure plate.
  12. No, the diffs are completely different. There is a company that makes front LSD conversions. I don't recall the name right now.
  13. Standard loyale/GL rear coil overs bolt right up. The fronts are a little different. Struts bolt right up you just have to decide what stance you want your XT to have. Available struts include, XT(2wd)(4WD), wagon, coupe, or sedan(2wd)(4WD). The XT's are shorter in comparison to the wagon, coupe and sedan. I would stick with the whole package from one vehicle so the stance will be even. All you have to do to the compressor is unplug it. You can remove all the stuff if you want to take the time to do so but it is not neccessary.
  14. I did it with the wheel as a pattern and it worked but I definitely like the pattern(template) idea. I think if you have access to machines a steel or aluminum one with steel inserts woulb be better. Reason I say this is the uneven surface on the backside of the hub makes setting up in a press dificult at best. Nice job though. I may have to get with you, I need to do another set. Ken
  15. Scott has thesolution for the switch. As far as the buzzing when charging. That is typical of a high amperage charge. Best to keep it under 10amps. I usually try to do 2 amp trickle charges, when I remember to charge ahead of time.
  16. Get ahold of me if you want to do it. It wouldn't be the first vehicle that left my driveway without a roof.
  17. Other than changing cams I don't really know how to get torque from the bottom end. The one down side of the turbo.
  18. Well, to use the covers have advantages and disadvantages. Advantages; Keeps objects from getting lodged in the belts. Keeps some of the mud out of the tensioner bearings. Disadvantages; Keeps the mud and gunk that does manage to get in there in there. I guess Subiemech said it best, it's a matter of preference. Intake seems to be better at speed or higher RPM's. Neither of which will benefit you in a lifted 'roo in the woods. It will make driving it on the street nicer though.
  19. The stock 3rd eye grill is for a two headlight system. The grill is larger. I used the stock grill and cutout the hole from the original grill. I also used the original timer and switch. Looks almost stock.
  20. Should also note, no grinding on the automatic bellhousing. Manual bellhousings require a bit of fit and fair.
  21. The tool is called an axle/cv installer. Very useful little tool.
  22. Interesting. Every Datsun/Nissan I come across has already been relieved of it's carb. Maybe I'll get lucky one day.
