Latest RallyCross Info from ORG
Qman replied to edrach's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Going strictly by engine and suspension set up would be boring. This why they call it racing. You take the set up you feel comfortable with and go from there. I enjoy seeing how I stand up against other vehicles and drivers. Besides, most of us that run do compare our times against eachother for bragging rights so to speak. Sometimes depending and track conditions the times vary alot but that's OK too. It is mostly for fun ayway. The option to higher fees is to join the SCCA. The first year is rather expensive but the following years is just a renewal fee. You will enjoy lower entry fees and possibly an extra run for SCCA members. I believe there are discounts set up for members at different places as well. -
Looks good from the pics. The transfer case gearing help push those big ol' meats ok? When is the tentative date for being back in Washington? Ken

I believe the cost at WCSS3 was lower because we had already retained the venue. It was just covering insurance, ORG and SCCA costs. -
Well, at least you can drive at night again.

The cheapest I found was $300+

After reading the entire post again, I see that we have gone off track. Yes, octane was brought up. And, yes, different opinions have definitely been discussed. But the point that has been forgotten is this... We should be trying to answer the question of the poster instead of arguing octane ratings and perceptions of such. This has been debated(low vs. high octane) since inception. It is fine to discuss/debate and even argue about it in the appropriate forum(Off-topic). The EA81T is not carburated. It is a computer controlled engine management sytem. Two of them actually. I think the problem with mileage is not relative to octane as much as it is to connections of components, electrical part failure. It could be as simple as having the injectors professionally cleaned. Changing the O2 sensor or resealing the motor. Any number of things can attribute to poor mileage. Good luck

For Mike and Mick. FYI, I used a mount from a Kawasaki 4 wheeler. Modified for the receiver mount. A few options,

need some clutch torque specs.
Qman replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Numbers sound right. Use the circle method to torque everything down. Also, use steps to tighten pressure plate to iron it out. Do not go to torque on one bolt before they are all snug, not tight just snug. Then, go to spec in a couple of steps to make sure you do not warp the plate. -

Rieter Pit Run, WA, January 3rd 2004 **Updated**

It wasn't that bad. We ended up outside of Index. Couple feet of snow and a complete blast. Almost lost one over the edge on a corner. Had to dig a couple out of snow holes. Snowed most of the time while we were there. Funny thing is is that it took me 6 hours to get home from Reiter pit. They closed 410 east for about 5 hours due to ice and an over-abundance of stalled and stuck cars on the hill. I ended up going around which was lots of fun with a 2wd 3/4 ton Suburban and a trailer behind it. I came home to 4 more inches of snow yesterday. That gives us a total of about 8+". Can't even imagine what Monday's storm will bring. I haven't seen this much snow around here since '91's inaugural day storm. -
Jeff, is it a manual choke?

There is a plug that rests behind the glovebox. A blue or white connector(can't remember exactly) But you can unplug it and work on it where it's warm. Chances are it's just the solder as described above.

82 brat exchange to 93 powerplant
Qman replied to tim davis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Tim, welcome to the board. You have picked something that has been happenning quite a bit lately. By clicking on the search button and searching for EA82 conversions you'll find this Search results Here's one of the lengthier posts on the subject. EA81 to EA82 swap Lots of reading but it should answer alot of your questions. If you find any questions unanswered give us a shout. -
Pull the grill back of. Check the alignment screws. If both are pointed down it may have just popped of the screws. If that is the case it will be easy. Just slip the screws back into the slots of the headlight bucket. Otherwise it may have tweeked the front sheet metal under the bolt-ons, ie, lights, grill and bumper. If this is the case then you will need to remove the grill headlight buckets(4 nuts per light reached from the engine compartment. Then you will be able to see where the bending occured and then pull it out a little. It shouldn't be that bad. Check it out and let me know what you find.

Actually, I have never seen a EA81 hatchback with cruise. The hatch's were more of the entry level car. Never seen one with PS either come to think of it. That is definitely an EA82 alternator. Pretty good shape considering it was in the JY. The effected areas will probably be best restored with fiberglass after removing the bad spots. Disty shields are really not that rare though Rory. Not trying to undermine your sale though. Your price is good if someone can't get one. I have a couple of them sitting on the wall.(but they're not for sale, sorry)

Is your mileage straight off the odo or is it adjusted for the bigger tires?

The actual term for your car is "LE Touring Wagon" or "Sport sedan". I know what you mean by no listing for it. Check for the LE and you'll find what you need on it. They aren't extremely rare but are getting harder to find. I believe the only option they didn't get was leather. They have everything else that I am aware of.

A cracked distributor cap or wet ignition will also cause these symptoms. A large vacuum leak will do it as well. When is the last time you changed the fuel filters? (Especially the rear one) Does the carb look like it is dripping when you look down the hole while it is running? When you apply the fuel does the stream look like a fine squirt from a squirt gun or does it look more like a faucet? Have you checked for the loose carb(most comon problem with Carter/Webers) as the base plates will loosen over time? When was your last tune up in general? Ken

OK, I'm good now, at least feeling better. I'll be there, just don't know about a free seat yet. -
desperate no fire on drivers side
Qman replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Recheck your wires. Sounds like you have the wires backwards on the drivers side. 3...4 1...2 Firing order 1, 3, 2, 4 Which I am sure you know. Make sure the wires are correct on the cap as well. Nothing controls side to side firing of the plugs but wire location. Good luck. -
Typical areas for rust on an 84 wagon?
Qman replied to heep70's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Same issues apply to those as well. The '80 may have a 1600 and single range though. Certain panels can be found. I know they have rockers for some of the Brat's. Used sheet metal is always floating around. I am not sure where to find floor boards.
